Exactly. They were constantly evolving while everyone else was playing catch-up. Early Beatles is very different music from mid-60s and mid-60s again was different from the stuff at the end, just before they broke up.
There are legions of one hit wonders and bands that had several hits which all sounded the same, but not the Beatles. They were always ahead of even their own game.
