Let’s now look at a magnified version of this graphic, blown up so that we can see how they handled the Briffa (orange) reconstruction. As sharp-eyed CA readers observed, if you squint closely, you can see that the Briffa reconstruction was chopped off before its end.
Indeed, they did not simply “hide the decline”, their “hide the decline” was worse than we thought. Mann et al did not merely delete data after 1960, they deleted data from 1940 on…

The “inconvenient truth” is that climate change (CC) is a stealth strategy for enormous, disingenuous long-term, structural tax increases. “CC” will evolve around an economic Ponzi scheme that will be an enormous new source of tax revenue, transfer billions of our tax dollars to undeserving often corrupt countries, demolish tens of thousands of high paying manufacturing jobs, transfer political power to global governance and bureaucracy, injure productivity, and finally will be a devastating disasters for our children’s standard of living. This scheme is elitism at its very worst with no affection for the millions of Canadian workers who earn their living in industry, not to mention the working people who will pay more for industry’s products and higher taxes; this scheme is little short of criminal!
Countries that participate in any version of a Cap, Trade & Tax wealth transferring, and tax increasing scam will witness a tangled web of new bureaucracies, and job-slaughtering regulation as well as increasing the price of all goods and services including gasoline and electricity. The increase in the price of Canadian goods will make them less competitive in world markets. Canadian producers will suffer in export markets and domestically in competition with goods imported from countries that do not impose high implicit tax on CO2 emissions. The results of course will be massive manufacturing and service industry job losses leading to a much lower standard of living for us and especially our children. In fact, a 2009 study by economists at the California State University at Sacramento found that the implementation cost “could easily exceed $100 billion” and that the program would raise the cost of living by $3,857 per household each year by 2020. So much for the so-called free green lunch!

the margin of error for proxy data and recorded data are so different that you realy can’t (or shouldn’t) blend the two, and the changes in recorded data make any graph suspect. This type of BS in the “climate science” is slowly coming to lite.
