Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I would like to say that Elizabeth was seriously b!#ch slapped in that video.
Who is that guy? And how can we get him to run for office?
Spot on, sir.
Why Don’t ALL Republican Politicians Talk Like This? What’s their incentive to?
He was a little off on who pays for roads. That’s mostly paid for with fuel taxes and excise taxes. However because spending in the federal trust fund is higher than revenues out of these, the federal government is periodically raiding the general fund.
Yet the infrastructure is still behind, literally tens of thousands of “structurally deficient” bridges in the federal network. Pet projects such as walking paths and high speed rail should not be funded by the federal trust fund – or at all federally – since these are local jurisdiction.
However even removing all of the little pet projects the fund is deficient in the long term. This is one of very very few areas where I support a modest increase of taxes so the general fund no longer gets raided. However an even better option is to turn the federal network over to the states and allow them to fund it, since the federal trust fund isn’t distributed properly or evenly to the states to begin with.
A great little speech.
RayK,theie incentive would be to explain reality to those who just don’t get it,simple altruism.
“Why Don’t ALL Republican Politicians Talk Like This?”
Because they’re mostly spaghetti-spined idiots too busy bending with the slightest breeze to have any moral convictions?
About those roads… At least this is how it works in the city I live in. The developers of lots pay for building the roads. It’s built into the price of buying property.
“Why Don’t ALL Republican Politicians Talk Like This?”
Because we haven’t earned true leaders just yet. Everything is falling apart around us but not enough of us are starving and suffering so like Phantom points out, platitudes is what mostly comes out of fake Conservatives like Romney or Karl Rove for example.
But with popular movements like the TEA party, things are starting to change. Gingrich is the most articulate thus far on the subject at hand…So is Ron Paul in many instances.
When people suffer enough, they will seek the truth. That does not necessarely mean they choose the right “solutions” though, thus figures like Stalin or Hitler come and go once in a while.
Unlike Europe though, there is still hope for the USA…The heartland is still majority center right wing Conservative.
Studying human nature is the best path to true freedom IMO.
That was great…haven’t heard of Elizabeth Warren…should we know her?
james…that is a ‘subdivision’ road you refer to. Once established, municipalities maintain them. All highways and city streets are built and maintained by taxes.
“Yet the infrastructure is still behind, literally tens of thousands of “structurally deficient” bridges in the federal network.”
I read at the place called somewhere that by taking two years off on new construction and employing the freed resources, the structural deficit would be fixed. Mind you building a new bridge makes a better election plum that fixing an old one.
The fact of the matter was that Obama took money (not yet raised) from the 53% to fund his stimulus program and gave it to the teachers unions and public service unions (police and social workers) to maintain the entitlement, while the industries (other than UAW industries) got very little. The bailouts went to their crony capitalist friends that feed of the real producers. Money went to Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae and the financial institutions that finance the governments social experiments. The real engine of the economy has been bullied into being used as the whipping boy of the leftists. Many people on the right believe in what the individual is saying but are intimidated by the media and feel that theirs is a majority view. Fortunately new forces such as Beck, Coulter, Steyn, Limbaugh, Levin, Palin and the TEA Party are proving that the view is not a minority belief.
One of them IS talking like that. His name is Newt Gingrich.
An interesting graphic to go along with the arguments…

Yes I know they are maintained by taxes afterwards. But they are initially built by the property owner. Remember folks, businesses pay property taxes but have no vote in municipal elections. In the cowichan valley here on Vancouver Island there’s a pulp mill paying over 60% of the municipal taxes!

I agree ‘Kate’ and I think this above link is a very apt description.
Oh, the lefties were (whip out the brain bleach) practically m@sturbating over that little speech by old academic commie Elizabeth Warren, who was running to take “Ted’s seat” away from Scott Brown the last time I checked. Everything she said is quoted in the above video so there’s no need to link to her thank you Jeebuz very much.
Lefties are funny. They think they’re smart but they’re actually stupid; the think they’re sophisticated but they’re actually naive and childish; they think they’re noble but they’re actually greedy, narcissistic, amoral and vicious.
James and bluetech>
In our municipality the developer pays for the road infrastructure into and in the development and when these are completed to proper specifications the municipality takes over the maintenance.
@Mamba – your second paragraph says it all; lefties are incapable of what we blithely understand to be an innate, human-defining ability to think freely, to examine ideas in light of new information – all stuff conservatives have always taken for granted.
They’re just…not…capable. They would rather belong to a Hive and let the “thinking” be done by late-teen and twentysomething career Marxist propagandists – mainly because they’re all too busy raking it in with both hands themselves in various professional and trendy careers.
That was a good rebut of toad claims. I am amazed how all Socialists claim that the middle class “Taxpayer” includes THEM; they avoid paying taxes at every turn. They need to show tax Receipts…The term “We” does not include those that don’t pay taxes
I also do not consider anyone that takes a Government check to be part of the Middle Class. In order to be part of the Middle class you have to generate a revenue stream of wealth. The worker @ Walmart, the Auto Worker, and McDonalds are all part of the middle Class…

Yes, its true that -recently- Newt has been talking the talk. Going back to May however, not so much.
That’s my main problem with Newt. One minute he’s talking tough on the OWS idiots, next minute he’s sitting with Nancy “The Gargoyle” Pelosi doing a Greenpeace ad. In 1994 he was The Man, then pretty much drifted off into RINO Land for a long time.
