Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Kate! The first rule of the Canadian housing bubble is “do no talk about the Canadian Housing bubble”.
The market value of Moore’s property is around $2,000,000. The assessed value is 50% of the assesor’s estimate of market value based on a two year sales study. The taxable value is defined as the lower of the Assessed value and the Capped Value (CAPPED value is determined via the following formula:
(Prior year taxable value – losses) x [CPI or 5% (which ever is lower)] + additions)
Given the state of American real estate he likely paid around $4 million. Big haircut.
Stop spoiling my fun.
Done
He’s single-handedly keeping two Burger Kings, three McDonalds, a Kentucky Fried chicken and a Domino’s Pizza outlet in business. What more should one man be expected to give?
No oceanview in Saskatoon……
DanBC, are there any houses built on Cranberry Flats?
Better than the conspicuous consumption going on in Atlanta.
Hmmm … I’d take the fat boys “cottage”.
Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías has offered to barter an exchange of the OWS demonstraters that want to live in a Communist Country. He has folks in Venezuela that want to live in the USA.
It’s a win-win for the FAT BOY & his ilk
This wouldn’t be the same Michael Moore who wrote “Downsize This”, would it?
Oh, I get it. He’s giving the finger to the greedy rich capitalists just to show that you don’t have to be born into wealth to become one of them.
“He’s single-handedly keeping two Burger Kings, three McDonalds, a Kentucky Fried chicken and a Domino’s Pizza outlet in business…”
Hehe, I thought you were going to say…..in his basement.
Needs to be big so he can fit inside.
Compare either to a dumpster in North Van…
I have a lawyer friend who owns a relatively modest and older home in north van free and clear – bought it for 400000 about eight years ago – now 1.8 million. Still haven’t talked him into selling buying a very nice place in Orlando and having 1.5 mill in the bank…
Remember when that “great” Hollywood actor Martin Sheen/Estevez was wailing away with the homeless one night and the next night the homeless showed up at his Beverly Hills mansion, for a place to sleep, and he had to have them police escorted away? Remember when that Einstienish Ted Danson stood up in 1989 and said we had 10 years to save the world from the ozone hole, or as…le in his case? Remember when Merril Streep stood up saying mommys sending apples withe their children’s lunch were endangering the child because of alar on the apples? Yes these people are stupid narcissistic gullible hypocrites that the stupid media run to for “knowledge, then fat Oprah helped install the greatest narcissist of all, Obongo as pres. Look at the checkout line books covers only people, look at the front page of the newspaper on the rack, don’t buy them, you are only fuelling the mass stupidity
Nice Saskatoon home, but I can’t tell from the photo if it has electricity or indoor plumbing!
Black Mumbles
and he has one of those Johnny-on-the-spots being trailered along behind him whith a permenantly attached honey pumper
chutzpahticular at 1:15 AM: DanBC, are there any houses built on Cranberry Flats?

Or bare-ass beach?
Actually guys, that is Moore’s SUMMER home. He’s got another place in NY. But he’s not the 1%, oh dear me no, perish the thought.
OCCUPY MICHAEL MOORE!
But in Saskatoon you can make a living.
Has Moore offered to let the people occupying the cities to crash at his place? It looks like it could sleep 100.
Sask better not repeat the mistake Albera mad in not restraining an over heated economy. No one will sell a decent paid off property in an unheated market to move to a market where they must take a mortgage on an out house just to have a roof over their family’s head. No net gain. That means the work force you import will be transient…will rent not buy and leave the moment the boom flatens out leaving employers scrambling again to find skilled labor.
The real estate spiral was the major cause of Alberta’s skilled work force being temporary – don’t make the same mistake in Sask.
@Scar:
Or about 5 Moores. (grin)
I suggest that everyone cash out of Saskatoon and go retire in Michigan. You may be richer than you think.
I’m guessing Moore’s carbon footprint of that house is as big as he is.
Occam- Good advice, but you know, in your heart, no one’s listening.
That garage with house attached in SK is apparently worth three times my fine home with spare lot in leafy Montreal suburb 5 minutes walk from a national park.
Go figure.
Ya but it’s Saskatoon!
Occam >
“The real estate spiral was the major cause of Alberta’s skilled work force being temporary..”
What no one seems to understand very clearly is that the “temporary” workers especially foreign workers never left!
It’s a one way street into Canada, soon follows the extended families and eventually the whole Third World village. Alberta is chock full of unemployed foreign bums after the boom, you see them loitering around everywhere on normal working days.

OCCUPY MICHAEL MOORE!
The guy is so fat, hes got his own zip code-
32889 (fatty)

Central Lake? Thought he was on Torch Lake? Torch is flat-out beautiful!
“According to public tax records, Moore owns a massive vacation home on Torch Lake, Michigan — one of the most elite communities in the United States — in addition to his posh Manhattan residence.”
Michael Moore can practically see Canada from his porch.
But he hasn’t seen his genitals since he was 23.
The Saskatoon home ($900,000 – really?!) looks like it was carved out of a single piece of obsidian.
I won houses in both Saskatoon and Calgary, now I am no Michael Moore (I am taller and slightly thinner), but who expected my 1900 sq ft home in Harvest Hills (that’s in Calgary) to be worth less than my 1200 sq ft house in Fairhaven (Saskatoon)?
Of course, my wife has a job here, while she didn’t there after being laid off on 2009.
