  1. An Aransas County (Texas) judge is in the spotlight after his (then) 16-year-old daughter videotaped him delivering corporal punishment. The girl, who suffers from cerebral palsy, had illegally downloaded music and games on the internet.
    From the YouTube comments:
“NOthing, he disciplined his childe, that’s it”
“That ass whooping was nothing, at least they was nice enough to use a belt instead of an extension cord or hanger. Obviously she wasn’t too disabled to record all that or steal. I’m on the judge side cause by 16, she should know better. Discipline your kids…I (and others) had worse ass whooping. Punk ass kids today.”

While I don’t agree with their overall politics, As a Canadian I can certainly appreciate they had the Canadian ethics to stand by their constituents as representatives of the people, knowing full well that they would face the wrath of “The Party”.

I for one will e-mail each of these gentlemen to express my gratitude. I hope that anyone else who values a representative democracy with politicians willing to have the guts to go against the unpopular dictates of “The Party” would also express support for their stand.

  3. re. EBD @10:02 – she’s 16? That’s… creepy. As is shouting “I’ll beat you into submission!” I also can’t help wondering exactly what message the judge was trying to convey by yelling “f*(king!!!…” repeatedly while flogging his daughter. Something to do with raising her right? Not a big fan of hitting with a belt, either.
Why didn’t he just take her computer away?

  4. For those that don’t know, Raine was a CANCON music artiste, with some Cheranna band, that I don’t recall. They came along in the post-grunge waive of ‘teen angst’ rock. Whatever.
He made his fortune only because of an EVIL corporation (record company) and gubmint mandated content.
and this makes him qualified to tell us financial decisions? Mope and Pail thinks so.
But he has flown all over North America visiting his comrades at the Mockupy campouts…that’s mighty rich of him…

  5. hope he purchased enough carbon credits to cover his global warming a** during his travels…

  6. This Raine guy, and OWS, have a couple of legitimate points, namely Wall Street defrauded the American Taxpayer of billions of dollars.

    I’m with you on that!
But a couple of skunks campaigned on killing C68 and suckered their constituents into voting them in. Northern Ontario NDP MP Charlie Angus and Nova Scotia NDP MP Peter Stoffer, both political whores, rolled over and showed their yellow bellies as soon as Jack pronounced the word. Interestingly, you’ll now find them as the big, caucus dicks! with party leadership ambitions.
(Never even tried for that one…just kinda wrote itself!)
What kind of shyster can look his constituents squarely in the eye, when they both know that their word means nothing? it’s all about prestige and power and ego (and pension), I guess!

  8. re EBD @10:02 – the father spanking his child in anger. The language. No love shown for his daughter. It’s all so wrong.

  10. That supposed Liberal party ad – that was a hoax, right? “release the mongoose”?! Geez, that’s almost as inspiring as a sh*t-shoveling puffin.
    Very funny to watch though.

  11. An Ottawa school has cancelled Rememberance Day because they don’t want to scare the kids with the vets stories of how they fought and died for the rest of us.As a vet myself,I cannot wrap my head around this.I have the honour of fighting for this country, and of having one of the survivers from the Great Escape of WW2 speak at my granddaughters cadet banquet. The kids were not scared, they asked more questions then any of us adults. It seems to me the ones scared are the adults affected with the Liberal disease. How can a school justify not teaching about our history?

  12. “Wall Street defrauded the American Taxpayer of billions of dollars.” – SDH
I don’t believe this is the case. Government controls the purse strings of government. Corperations will try it on and see what they can get from the government, but it is politicains who decide to cut the check. The OWS croud seem to think that the answer to this is more government.
A more realistic approach to this is a smaller government with limited power. If politicians don’t have access to money and the power to write checks to their friends then they can’t bail out their friends.

  13. minuteman,
Check out the MERS system, foreclosure fraud and inherent evil of CDSs.
Generally it is the criminal bankers within the government who are making the decisions to bail out their friends, not the elected officials.
The elected officials are willfully ignorant/stupid/corrupt.
You’re right that OWS would probably fizzle out if the government decided to forgive all student loans and gave out some other goodies,
but just because I don’t agree with their solution doesn’t mean they haven’t correctly identified the problem.

  15. War vets, poppy under siege
http://www.torontosun.com/2011/11/03/war-vets-poppy-under-siegeIn Toronto and Hamilton, human scum steal poppy boxes filled with donated money to help war vets and their families, leading up to Remembrance Day on Nov. 11.
In London, a war vet coming in to man his poppy station at a local mall finds a cartoon describing Canadian soldiers as “hired killers”.
In Ottawa, a high school cancels a two-decade old program in which vets share their war-time experiences with students and show them the equipment they used, because of a decision to ban “tanks and guns” from the school, even though no tanks have been displayed and the guns are inoperable.
That this is happening in the year Canada ends its 10-year military mission in Afghanistan, in which 158 of our soldiers died, is a disgrace.

    *IMO:
I said a few yrs back to a friend of mine (34yrs ppcli) & my son in-law (22yrs rcr 1).
“Iam waiting for a certain politicaly/socialy (former NDP canidate) nutbar on city council to request that the singing of ‘Onward Christian Soldiers’ on the Remembrance Day program be deleted”. As we would not want to offend any non-christian in attendance, would we.
And when we parade again i will say it to them again as iam sure its going to happen one of these times, if not that person then someone else.

DDOT Drivers Refuse To Work: ‘They’re Scared For Their Lives’
“Our drivers are scared, they’re scared for their lives. This has been an ongoing situation about security. I think yesterday kind of just topped it off, when one of my drivers was beat up by some teenagers down in the middle of Rosa Parks and it took the police almost 30 minutes to get there, in downtown Detroit,” said Gaffney.

“President Obama came, he saw, he insulted.”
““Obama insults Sarkozy,” blared the headline on one French website, taking umbrage at Mr. Obama’s wayward remark at the G-20 summit here about the physical appearance of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Mr. Obama thought he was making a gentle joke about Mr. Sarkozy, host of the summit, when he congratulated Mr. Sarkozy and wife Carla Bruni on the birth of their baby daughter on Oct. 19. Instead, Mr. Obama caused a minor international incident.
“I want to make mention that this is our first meeting since the arrival of the newest Sarkozy, and so I want to congratulate Nicolas and Carla on the birth of Giulia,” Mr. Obama told reporters shortly after his arrival at the G-20, with Mr. Sarkozy at his side. “And I informed Nicolas on the way in that I am confident that Giulia inherited her mother’s looks rather than her father’s, which I think is an excellent thing.””

“Ontario loses 75,400 full-time jobs in October”
“TORONTO – Ontario’s job numbers for October are scarier than anything Halloween produced.
The province lost 75,400 full-time positions, according to Statistics Canada’s labour survey released Friday.
On the plus side, 36,600 new part-time positions were created.
“Ontario’s employment declined by 39,000 in October, with large losses in full-time partially offset by gains in part-time,” StatsCan said.
“The unemployment rate in the province rose 0.5 percentage points to 8.1%. Over the past 12 months, employment in Ontario has grown by 1.5% (up 101,000 jobs).”
The dismal October numbers come at a difficult time as the minority Liberal government prepares to head into the legislature later this month to put the brakes on spending.”
