Spanish authorities are investigating the recent deaths by poisoning of more than a dozen dogs in Lérida, a city in the northeastern region of Catalonia that has become ground zero in an intensifying debate over the role of Islam in Spain.
Not sure that debate is going to solve this problem:
Local residents say Muslim immigrants killed the dogs because according to Islamic teaching dogs are ‘unclean” animals. Over the past several months, residents taking their dogs for walks have been harassed by Muslim immigrants opposed to seeing the animals in public. Muslims have also launched a number of anti-dog campaigns on Islamic websites and blogs based in Spain.

In response to the “lack of sufficient police to protect the neighbourhood,” 50 local residents have established alternating six-person citizen patrols to escort people walking their dogs…

My friend recently built a house in the southern Philippines. His wife grew up there and tells him that Philippinos(non-Muslims) detest Muslims as neighbours. Anything visiable to the public is a garbage pile. They do not cleanup their own messes and are very aggressive in public places. ie they will not make way for others. If they are walking 4 abreast they will push any on comers aside. Religious based violence is very common. Bombings and shootings are routine.

Up until about 3 months ago,I worked in a housing project in Calgary where pets were allowed,cats were fine,but dogs,even those little Paris Hilton things,were discouraged.

No baloney — Ohio has caved to a lawsuit by two Muslim prison inmates and banned pork for all prisoners in its jails.
Dick Isler, executive director of the Ohio Pork Producers Council, says the state’s pork farmers and processors are vowing to fight the ban.
The lawsuit was filed by Muslim death row inmate Abdul Awkal, who is scheduled to die in June for killing his estranged wife and brother-in-law in 1992. He maintains that the prison system’s failure to provide halal meals — prepared according to Islamic teachings — is a restraint on his religious freedoms.
Awkal said in a court filing: “The issue of eating halal meals is especially important to me because I face a death sentence. It is important to me that I follow the requirements of my faith as I approach death.”
Joining Awkal in the suit is Cornelius Causey, who is serving 15 years to life for murder and aggravated robbery.
The suit, filed on behalf of the two inmates by the Ohio Justice and Policy Center, maintains that it is not enough for the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction to offer vegetarian and non-pork meals, which are available to inmates. The inmates assert that all their food must be prepared in a specific fashion — for example, animals must be butchered by slitting their throats and draining their blood — to conform to Islamic beliefs.
JoEllen Smith, spokeswoman for the department, said removing pork from the menu eliminates the possibility of pork coming into contact with other foods during preparation, according to The Associated Press.
But the state argues that providing halal meals would be costly, given the current budget situation.

Islam is borne of Arabic tribal culture and looked upon by other cultures within Islam as the one to look up to. The who’s who in the hierarchy of its peculiar fundamentalism.

Sasquatch,I noticed that pork problem a few days back.Prisoners do have rights. They have the right to eat,and not to be abused.
If they were so concerned about their religion,they wouldn’t be in prison in the first place,and that goes for those who demand kosher meals also.
I am waiting for a group of islamic inmates that are inside for theft related crimes to demand a little bit of amputation,it’s only fair.

My personal opinion aside, we’ve seen this kind of irrational behaviour with helper dogs for the disabled. It certainly is no one’s business if someone owns a dog or not. Unless the dog is rabid or has attacked a child, the only muzzle should be on the soft-minded who cannot appreciate the value dogs have.
Also, Koreans don’t eat dogs. There is a dish called ‘boshuntung’ which is made from a special breed of dog and is prized as a sort of macho thing but, by and large, Koreans have dogs as pets and helpers:

Yes, of course they are ok in my books. Although I do admit I much prefer useful, utilitarian dogs over the ornamental kind. Not the nasty ghetto security ones, but well mannered hunting dogs, sled dogs, Seeing Eye dog’s etcetera…..

The surveys need to be broken down a little to better – Bites on criminal perpetrators verses owners, verses stranger, verses child, verses cultural “inner city” dog fighting etcetera……..

Even the cute, doddering Corgi living on 4th street in the second-floor flat with the widow Smith does work for Mrs. Smith. Real work, too. He warns her when people are entering the building’s lobby, and with different alert-barks for different arrivals: the mail-man gets one bark, an unknown intruder gets another. He’s a ratter, too.
And, if that’s not enough, he provides her with interaction and companionship. In short, a good working dog like Mrs. Smith’s Corgi assists in maintaining her security and self-reliance long after her husband has vacated the marital post.
But, according to this latest, were the little fella to stray into the wrong neighborhod, these Islamo’s would kill him. ‘Cuz some imam said so.
BTW: Knowing that Islamists’ have a tendency to veil their intentions (ie. taqqiya, sp?), it is not unreasonable to assume that the reasons they give for banning dogs in Shariah-controlled parts of Spain are, too, bunk. Readers are left to guess whether the ‘official’ proffered reasons for banning dogs, or my admittedly unsourced guess, might be more correct.

Me thinks that when Muslims get enough demographic numbers in North America to get the “guts” to act out like they do in Liberal Europe, will be in for a nasty shock.
Nowhere else on the planet will you find as many people as physiologically predisposed with the idea of personal liberty and freedom. This is something Islam or even most Europeans to a lesser extent do not understand.
The Liberal pandering, restrictive rules, regulations and laws set out on behalf of Islam by western governments, will not aid them and their war on the west as effectively as it has in Europe, too be sure.

Simple! keep the islamists locked up in their yards. Any loose burka must be on a leash. Since they don’t use toilets or toilet paper, make them carry pooper scoopers and poop bags. Of course, if they can’t assimilate, take away their goats. That will totally ruin their sex lives.
By the way, why does the government department of redundant reduncies require that post offices have signs that say “no dogs allowed, except seeing eye dogs”? Do they think the dogs can read?
