  1. This guy reminds me of Mao swimming the Yangtze river at 80. Only with out people holding him up under water.

  2. Someone mentioned that his shirtless pics are like the gay softporn of the 40’s.
    Shirtless men.
    Shirtless Pooty.
    I dunno…

  3. I would like to see the producers of the “Mantracker” TV series offer Putin a spot as a guest tracker. It would give the series a big boost in viewership, and I’m sure Putin would be good at the role, and likely enjoy the experience.
You don’t have to care for his politics to appreciate the fact that he’s not a wuss. I mean, who would you rather sit down and have a beer with, Putin or Obama?

  4. @ gordinkneehill, Putin, even though I am not sure where he is leading Russia. Russians have no knowledge of how democracy is supposed to really work as they only had a few months of it in 1917 and a semblance of it during the last twenty years. I guess in another generation we might know.
For now, I think he is a strong leader who might keep the mafia in check, then again he might be part of the mafia. Time will tell.

  5. All Hail Czar Vladimir the first!
His strategy is to show himself a a virile leader of a powerful country. Expect to see even more Russian disruption and obstinancy in foreign affairs in the near future to complement his image. Expect meddling in their near abroad (the ‘stans, Georgia, Poland, Ukraine), and in Africa and the mid-east.
The country may be a ciminal fascist syndicate led by a KGB/secret police apparatchik, but he is determined to recover the glory of the glorious past of Imperial Russia and the USSR.
Who knows? It may actually provide some pride to the russian people and make them reverse the alcohol fueled demographic suicide.

  7. Common Kate SDA – This is like posting porn pics for SDA troll Alex!
You should lock him out for a fee to watch, you know he’d pay up.

  8. This sort of resembles the socialist Obamba campaign, no? Remember the no-shirt beach shots that gave the left such excitement.
What’s with all the commies and naked old men?

  9. Possibly in the Russian language, “I lost my shirt” has a different meaning.
I hope to God that Harper doesn’t emulate this in his campaign to make us a second Arctic Power.

  10. Putin is presiding over a crumbling state with an unbelievable decline in population in the near future.
At some point, eastern Russia will become western China, either via a going out of business sale ( unlikely ) or de facto Chinese annexation.
Putin must be delusional, because surely he isn’t in power just to empower a few kleptocrats? Or is he really at heart just an oligarch wannabe? These, and other pictures of Putin the man are only a few degrees away from the Russian oligarch and his miniature pet giraffe in the DirecTV commercial.

  11. From Kim Zigfield at … Larussiophobe:
“Right here on our blog, Russophile maggots like Kevin Rothrock and Anatoly Karlin repeated the Kremlin mantra that this would never happen. Now, they stand exposed. We condemn their mendacious treachery, as they sought to do all they could to blunt opposition to Putin making this move and thereby facilitate it. Now, these venal scumbags will turn around and say: “It doesn’t matter, Putin always had power.” We would laugh, if we were not so busy weeping for what was once Russia and is now the USSR.”

“More and more Russians will want to leave, and sooner or later the Russian government will have to stop allowing them…”

Saddam, Hitler and many other dictators were the same.
It’s all part of being a ‘Living Legend’ and developing a personality cult.

In some countries the leader’s statues and portraits everywhere is such a commonplace tradition it doesn’t get special notice.
Also, if the leader’s personality cult really catches on, the cult followers want the leader’s statues and portraits everywhere.
The atmosphere gets to be such that the leader has a father/child relationship with his people and because the people don’t have a tradition of independence they like the idea of a strong caring father running their lives from the nation’s capitol.

  14. Now there’s a man that could use the Kramer “Mansiere”.

haha, you could also call it a “bro”…

  15. Nah they are pecs….
Remember that Soviet Olympic weightlifter….who looked like he had man boobs and a beer gut….until he picked up the bar-bell….it was ALL muscle….

  16. Don’t worry, Knight – he’ll never take your place. You might not be much of a looker, but your rimjob technique is truly divine.

  17. Alex >
Heh heh heh, my gaydar went off like a New Years Eve in SanfranSicko fireworks display when I saw this posted. I knew you’d be “peeking in” with one hand on the keyboard in short order.
You people are the reason western society is collaping and Islam is taking over. Maybe not such a bad thing after all really.

  18. The pictures at the link posted by Mike are good.
I’d say that Putin is not a really skilled horse-
man, not in Ronald Reagan’s category, but probably
enthusiastic. He seems most comfortable in martial
arts and with firearms, probably because of extensive
training in the KGB. The photo of the interior of the T90 tank
was interesting, and not easily to be found elsewhere. Putin is certainly no wuss; and there is
probably some genuine enjoyment in all of his activities. What a difference from Obama!

  19. Taekwando black belt; new blonde bimbette trophy wife; metallic-coated one-way sunglasses; shaved bare chest; Prancer the Stallion … Dare I say it? This guy has a serious case of Macho Derangement Disorder.
(SIGH…In Muscovy, they make anybody a tyrant nowadays. Czar Ivan the Terrible-now THERE was a tyrant! This is just Czar Vladimir the corrupt, thuggish beta male.)

  20. Thanks for the photo link, Mike in Calgary.
It’s quite interesting what type of public images are being presented by Putin (who I’d much rather have a beer with than Obozo) and beta-male BO. Then again, with Putin it would probably be endless shots of vodka if he’s like most Russians I’ve known.
I suspect that Putin’s macho public image is partly designed to try to get Russian men to put away the vodka and do something instead of drinking themselves into an early grave. As small c conservative noted, Russia is in a demographic nosedive. Like Quebec, they’re a population that’s forgotten how to breed. Likely Putin is very aware that Russian military strength is likely maximal now and will only decline as the pool of military recruits gets smaller and smaller as the Russian population declines. Thus, it wouldn’t surprise me if Putin does make some military moves now while the US has a girly-man TOTUS and the European portion of NATO has shown itself incapable of military action in Afghanistan and Libya.

  21. @ peter “Possibly in the Russian language, “I lost my shirt” has a different meaning.

It is my understanding that the Bronz statues of Taliban Jack will have enhanced boobs (including those lining up to be the next leader) to die for!

  22. You know, I have a theory about this population decline. According to the BBC, in 2003 “Russia is currently estimated to have nearly 13 terminations for every 10 live births, and the highest abortion rate in Europe after Romania.”
I have a theory that most people model their lives on movies and TV shows. Putin probably thinks he’s James Bond. It might be worth noting that Tae-kwon-do has a reputation for being an entirely showy martial art. The girl who beat up the vampires on Buffy the Vampire Slayer was trained exclusively in TKD, because it looks good on camera; in terms of actual fighting… Of course this could be one of those things I’m wrong about, and having said that I’ve no doubt incurred the wrath of legions on TKD ninjas. You may never hear from me again.

  23. I’d rather see Harper shirtless ANY DAY, than the pallid, untoned Putin. He gives, “keep your shirt on,” a whole new nuance.
Nothing like a robust capitalist to improve my mood.

  24. Off the top of my head I can’t think of any politicians I’d like to see shirtless, but then I’m heterosexual.
