61 Replies to “How ‘Let’s roll’ became ‘Let’s roll over’”

  1. The new line of those who side with the terrorists is that America ” overreacted “, which tells you something about the compassion of the left. The terrorists should be hunted every minute of every day, until the last one is dead.

  2. IMHO the 9-11 memorial at ground zero should have been a sphere at least 8 stories high. And the “ground zero mosque” should have been told that due to zoning restrictions that apply only to them, their building could be a minimum of 3 stories high.
A giant billboard on the top of the sphere saying “let’s roll” would make the imagery complete.

  3. As I write in my new book, 9/11 was something America’s enemies did to us; the 10-year hole is something we did to ourselves – and, in its way, the interminable bureaucratic sloth is surely as eloquent as anything Nanny Bloomberg will say in his remarks.
If anything was shovel ready for building the Twin Towers site is it.
I really don’t think Americans did it to themselves.
If the Left didn’t exist, it would already have been rebuilt.
Put the blame exactly where it belongs.

  4. Just watching the opening of the Blue Jays game, they showed the Jumbotron screen, with the tribute to 911.
On screen, they called it a ‘disaster’.
While technically true, why are there so many afraid to call it for it was?
The only term appropriate is ATTACK.

  5. The rolling over continues as this piece of pap from the Calgary Herald indicates
    http://www.calgaryheraldom/news/9-11-anniversary/Imam+feared+family+after+terror+attacks/5381888/story.html
The fearful Imam in the article is none other than Syed Soharwardy who many will recall filed a human rights complaint against Ezra Levant for publishing the infamous danish cartoons.
Better yet, The Calgary Herald ran this same article on two consecutive days(Sept. 9th and 10th) under different titles.
    http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/9-11-anniversary/Calgary+Muslims+lives+forever+changed/5379577/story.html
I long ago gave up on the MSM but a young fella from Nova Scotia who works and lives with our family recently subscribed to the CH.
He will be canceling the subscription tomorrow morning.

  6. Naming the fascist Islamic attackers for who they are and what they represent is practically absent from regular discussion. That’s pathetic. They are real, evil people and they must be defeated unconditionally.

  7. Morlock = Islamic Jihadis boys, Obama regime and the Hoffa type Unionistas
Eloi = Westen world Surrender Monkeys … that would be us.

  8. The left spend so much time telling us to shut up or we’ll offend the self same Islamists that killed nearly 3000. We aren’t allowed to say that millions of Wahhabists and Salafist around this planet would do the self same thing as the 911 terrorists if given the chance. The left keep stating it’s a small minority, yea right millions of potential Jihadi’s is now a few. New math really really stupid.

  9. Abe, did you know H.G. Wells was a virulent Communist? Little known fact. Kinda puts “The Time Machine” into perspective.
Islamists are a bunch of boy-molesting hillbillies. Without Paul Krugman they got nuttin’.
WE are the scariest people on earth. Just look at the way the Lefties freak out every time one of us speaks up.
Morlock meets nicely sharpened garden spade. Splat. Hand spade to dumb@ss Eloi, keep walking.

  10. syncro,
    This stuff amazes me.
How do you turn an attack on us into sympathy for someone that
    1) Either had nothing to do with anything (i.e. innocent muslims that have no sympathy for islamists)
    2) Or has sympathy with what happened and therefore is not deserving of sympathy
Drives me nuts. The only people that mention blaming all individual muslims are those who are seeking to prevent a proper identification of who was the cause. So this isnt a case of those who blame islamists casting too wide a net but in fact those trying to protect or sympaize with islamists who seek to hide islamists amongst the less religous and fanatical….a ideological human shield.
If you know who your target is you arent afraid to name them, since you know the difference. Its thise who cant idenitfy them that seek to soften and hide the naming.
The West was attacked, remains under threat and lets not forget that. Once you agree to that then a fair debate can be had on methods and stratgey. But we are still apparently struggling with goals and mission. no wonder this takes so long.
Obama is absolutley an example of this. He does seem to believe that islamists are extreme representatives of a legitimate grievance….as opposed to being illegitmate manifestations of an illegitimate complaint.

  11. DanBC: I have seeb 9/11 referred to as a “disaster” elsewhere, invariably in articles by liberal writers. It’s no accident. They are deliberately using a word that is usually used in the context of some unavoidable natural catastrophe, like a hurricane or earthquake. That way it sounds less like a deliberate premeditated act by an enemy. Subconsciously or consciously, they are trying to divert your mind from the cause of 9/11: Islamist extremism.

  12. Just watch cnn today, and the puke-fest on Fareed Zakharia (or however you spell his name)..muslim sympathy..blame the US..blame over-reaction,blah blah. Then clips of Wolf Shlitzer trying to demonize VP Cheney this a.m. Unbelievable.

  13. Oh yeah, our own cbc’s Evan Sold-out Solomon refers to response to 9-11 as the “so-called war on terror!” last week.

  14. Big Hollywood style production today – were we entertained?
The fact of the matter is that since 9/11, Muslims have been more untouchable for security screening and public criticism than ever before. If the UN gets its way, soon any criticism of Islam will be punishable by prison sentence. In fact already in Canada criticism of Islam by white people is punishable via the CHRC, at minimum an undesirable and destructive life altering experience for most.
Since 9/11 when Americans asked for more protection from Islam, they have been met with a complete Orwellian rule of law by their government. Muslims rarely get searched in an American Airport, yet little children primarily white are frequently felt up and humiliated to tears as are other clearly and obviously innocent American citizens.

  15. While I’m not concerned about Baptist rioting, what’s us with this?
    |”The memorial service at the Washington National Cathedral (transferred to another venue after an “act of God”) is typical of arrangements by America’s self-loathing governing class. Evangelicals and Catholics were not invited into a sanctuary where, in addition to the progressive bonzes of Episcopalianism, we find a progressive rabbi, a progressive Hindu priest, a Tibetan “nun and incarnate lama,” a progressive imam, and a singer from Afghanistan. The U.S. president will tour all three attack sites, emoting abstractly, while likewise avoiding any traditional American reference.”
What no Tea Partiers? Oh, that’s right, it’s a peaceful event; it’s about not being divisive, so they’ll have to left out.
    http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/9-11-anniversary/After%2BSept%2Bfleeting%2Bmoment%2Bclarity/5384023/story.html
Pretty good article, worth a read.

  16. Sammy,
Although it isnt what Solomon meant I actually agree that it shouldnt be called the war on terror…..thats war on a tactic….but the alternative is too unpalatable to Evan….War on Islamic Extremism…..or even War on the Religous Fanatics that Attacked Us.
If you cant name the target its hard to know what you are supposed to hit.
The squishy middle and left would prefer to call it “a knee jerk over reaction to a likely justified attack on the cause of global problems”

  17. As far as education, notice the similarity of the Japanese denying the horrific atrocities of their troops during WW2 in classrooms? Most Japanese today view themselves as innocent victims of the war and nuclear aggression.
Why does the western Liberal left take the same stance as the Japanese with our students on 9/11?
Answer – because they are the perpetrators of the crime, ideologically & spiritually if not actively through propaganda, financial and political support. They open the gates for the barbarian hordes from the inside, all the while telling us to relax, things change.

  18. That Krugman bit was appalling.
How filled with hate must a soul be, how black must a heart be, to publish such a thing?
I might be inclined to forgive him if this were an overheard rant at a cocktail party, but this was his considered, written opinion that he and his editors chose to publish.

  19. Stephen
Too true on both posts. I’ve seen the ideological shield up close and personal…
…And if a society lacks the collective stones to name the enemy, the enemy has mostly won.
I say mostly because not everyone is a collectivist…

  20. Tom Paine >
At least Krugman supports the Affirmative Action & Nobel Peace Prize Presidents killing of Libyans, and an expanded war in Afghanistan, so he can’t be all that bad could he?

  21. Krugman has finnaly fallen off the pier into the deep end.He reminds me now of Margolis. Both have left the reservation of sanity into the desert of imposibilities. Looking for a mirage of socialism that is solid. As well a peace moombeam when it comes to Islamists.

  22. There is a “cartoon” by Murphy in today’s Vancouver Province that is almost as offensive as Krugman’s column.

  23. ” The fact of the matter is that since 9/11, Muslims have been more untouchable for security screening and public criticism than ever before”-Knight 99
    How true.
Whenever I read a stroy about the horrors of the airport screeners checking a grandmother or a child,I smile.
Invariably the people who react or comment with disgust,(my co-workers included)will be railing about the intrusion of gov’t,big brother, etc.
I ask them why these people should not be singled out for extra screening and they invariably reply,” because only a fool would think that an 86 year-old great-grandmother(as if her reproductive skills matter) would be a threat.
The next question I ask is, ” Then who would be a likely suspect to undergo further scrutiny?” Invariably they shut up,or answer “well certainly not an elderly woman,or a child”.
Profiling works, political correctness does not. One saves lives, one endangers lives.
The boy scouts had it right,” Be prepared”.

  24. Watching CNN coverage of ZERO at the pentagon…..
looks more like a campaign stop, than a solemn remembrance, with what looks very much like trucked in partisan’s with a ‘rock star’ welcome, (whoops and shreiks).
    Unbelievable….

  25. Sammy: “Just watch cnn today, and the puke-fest on Fareed Zakharia (or however you spell his name)..muslim sympathy..blame the US..blame over-reaction,blah blah. Then clips of Wolf Shlitzer trying to demonize VP Cheney this a.m. Unbelievable.”
This is why I no longer watch CNN. It’s either all about race or it’s portraying Islamists as victims. Fareed Zacharia is an apologist for Barack Obama.

  26. Chutz (if I may call you that)..you forgot to mention, the gay agenda of cnn as well.I just could NOT stomach to watch more than 10 min of the crap they put out there today.

  27. The coverage of the visit to the Pentagon by Obama and wife on Fox was very revealing.
Obama arrives to exactly those whoops and screams ala rockstar arrival ( completely inappropriate and insulting )
He quickly lays a wreath-stands back-and THEN-while the band plays Amazing Grace-walks over to his ‘fans’ and begins shaking hands-with cameras clicking-
These were clearly ‘trucked in partisans’ as said in a post above-as Megan Kelly stated ‘the families are inside awaiting Pres, Obama-
Also in the crowd-sprinkled about, cameras in hand were a few in military uniform-
I know NO military who would do that during a memorial service playing of Amazing Grace!!
To Fox’s credit they kept the camera on the flag draped over the Pentagon during the playing of Amazing Grace.
A couple of shots of Obama and Mrs. Obama just before-and immediately after made it clear that they worked the crowd throughout the whole playing-just another campaign stop to them-
even using this sacred occasion to advance his re-election campaign.
Paul Krugman has it right that someone is taking political advantage but he points his poisonous
finger at the wrong culprits, and he knows it.
To have Obama in the position of attending these memorials is nothing short of sacrilege.

  28. I’ve avoided all TV coverage of the 9-11 memorials. Grima Wormtongue is everywhere, and the West has become King Theoden.

  29. 9/11 wasn’t a “disaster” or a “tragedy”; it was an act of war waged on innocents. Full stop.
The japanese tsunami or joplin Mo tornado were disasters, and tragedies. Big difference.
Ah well. To maobama and the retard left, there are no enemies: just islamists we haven’t hugged enough.

  30. Snowbunnie
I saw the same thing and was sickened. The dork was campaigning while the band played Amazing Grace.
I do not credit Fox for changing the camera angle. In the spirit of balance I would’ve run a split screen shot.

  31. Time to the mussies back to the middle east or like we did with the Japanese during WW11 lock them up until they are either dead or on a plane out of the free world.

  32. Let’s do a quick comparison of two societies. One based on a Judeo-Christian ethic, the other on an Islamic ethic.
On 09 September 2001, almost 3000 people were slaughtered in the Judeo-Christian society by members of the Islamic society. The reaction of the Judeo-Christian society? A dozen or so minor acts of hate along the lines of minor property damage and some graffiti.
Fast forward a few years. A newspaper in the Judeo-Christian society publishes some cartoons. No on notices at first. A few months later, members of the Islamic society decide they need to whip up the troops and make a stink about these cartoons. The reaction of the Islamic society? Weeks of riots involving hundreds of thousands, people murdered, embassies destroyed.
Speaking as an atheist, I know which of the two seems to have gotten their collective heads around the tenants of their religions. I know which of the two societies I want to live in. Especially seeing as how I am absolutely a true infidel. You Christian and Jewish folks at least have SOME question of the fact.

  33. So Matt sneers at the anti-jihad colouring book but doesn’t have a snide aside for the description of the TDSB’s “Islamophobia” curriculum. Intercourse that.

  34. The political cartoon in today’s Halifax paper was so far over the top leftoid that Krugman would be proud. Like a lot of SDA readers I’ve avoided the media event rather than be programmed by the “enhanced” story. For some weird reason I was home from work that day and watched the whole thing unfold. Make no mistake, that attack on 9-11 was as much an act of war as December 7th at Pearl Harbor.

  35. Boys and girls, I can top Paul Krugman. Yes I can.
    http://www.thespec.com/news/local/article/591568–police-have-dna-in-temple-arson
Front page story of the Hamilton Spectator still on sale today:
“Hamilton police have acquired DNA profiles of a group of people who were drinking at the site of the Hindu Samaj Temple minutes before it was set ablaze 10 years ago.”
“Detectives are hoping the 10th anniversary of 9/11 will encourage those who were at the temple that night to come forward to solve the crime.”
A fire from ten years ago is FRONT PAGE NEWS today in Hamilton Ontario, thanks to our minders at the Toronto (Red) Star.
Krugman should be taking Lefty lessons from those freaks at Torstar.

  36. What should be taught in schools about 11-Sept is that this was the end of freedom in N. America. I know one shouldn’t infer malice when stupidity could better explain things, but it wouldn’t surprise me if OBL had been funded by international statists.
This attack was the perfect opportunity for totalitarians in all governments to rush through legislation which essentially made air travel as difficult in N. America as it was in the former USSR. The anti-terrorism bills in the US shredded the US constitution.
That’s why you don’t hear about the US being attacked by islamofascists — the islamofascists are the shock troops of the self-styled political elite that wants to implement a worldwide totalitarian state in which everyone will live in equal squalor. The last thing these criminals want is more people behaving like the passengers on flight 93.
I suggest than in memory of the attack, everyone do one little thing that will throw some sand into the gears of government. I’ll send in my census form written in cyrillic using a simple substitution cipher. You’ve been screwed by the government for the last 10 years, time to let the statists feel the wrath of the people.

  37. Krugman shold be taken ouut and be forced to memorize the odes of Pindar, in original Greek.
He is a disgrace to humanity; perhaps Pindar oe Hesiod will enlighten him to the glories of Western civilization. We could also use Aristophenes, Euripedes or Aeschelus, but certainly NOT Plato or Aristotle.

  38. What amuses me here (or would amuse me if it weren’t all so pathetically predictable) is the abject failure of a spineless education system to simply teach what happened on 9/11. Let the historical record do the work here.
So what if there is no way to do it without mentioning the Islamist terrorists who perpetrated the act and the extremist ideology that motivated them?
This does not make Muslims as a group any more personally “guilty” or “responsible” than Irish Catholics were for IRA bombings and murders.
Let the chips fall where they may.

  39. I might also throw in Thucydides who was a guy who knew what he was talking about … unlike Crookman.

  40. Texas Canuck at September 11, 2011 7:28 PM
I was at work and received an e-mail from my wife-at-the-time that Emma, her daughter, had just reported that a plane had flown into the WTC. My response was “Deliberately?” I immediately fingered bin Laden and islam. I wasn’t wrong.

  41. syncrodox,
Syed Soharwardy is the soft jihad, the hard jihad comes when we are desensitized and unable to name the enemy, let alone fight them.
They’ve been at this for 1400 years.
It is necessary to name them and their tactics and goals. Islam is not a religion, it is an agressive totalitarian ideology. It isn’t just the West it hates, but the East, North and Souuth as well, inclding animists, Bhuddists, Hindus and polytheists, etc.

  42. Steyn really isn’t telling us anything we don’t already know…it just feels good to hear it said like that.
The roll over and play dead crowd is all around us. Our governments, media, educational institutions, churches, neighbours, our youth.
It’s the duck and dig gang. Falsely brave on the condition of anonimity, nowhere to be seen on matters that count.

  43. Lately Krugman has been spewing about the Broken Window Fallacy not being a fallacy in economic conditions such as these and, presumably like the 2001 recession.
Devastating attacks on our infrastructure and commercial centers and government spending (on wars) are exactly the kind of “stimulus” he believes in but would never admit.
