“Some people will tell you that slow is good – but I’m here to tell you that fast is better. I’ve always believed this, in spite of the trouble it’s caused me. Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba…” – Hunter S. Thompson

I’ve not seen the TT, but I have watched another race on the same circuit with historic bikes, BSAs, Matchlesses and Nortons. Even with the old machines it was quite spectacular on the streets of the Island.
Remember that these riders are racing. On Sunday of the TT they open the track, one-way, for anyone who wants to drive it. My friend’s step-father reckoned the bikes overtaking him were doing more than 180 mph; he was doing 120.
Of course most of the track is outside the towns, where there is no speed limit anyway.
former racetrack Westwood, near Port Coquitlam/Maple Ridge BC had the infamous Deer’s Leap, a hill crest on the back straightaway. if you didn’t get air, you weren’t trying!
