A fellow told me he had been working on a mountain top at a tower of some sort, when it was hit by lightening. He says he was unhurt, but what he remembered was a smokey taste in his mouth and that his fillings were hot! Too close for this kid.
I saw that close up once in 1969 at me brudder’s auto body shop when he was out doing something.
my only regret is I didn’t make a mental note of which farm fence post it hit so I could check things out when the clouds went away.

I read somewhere of some guy who worked for the forestry service in the states. He got hit by lightening unbelievably 6 or 7 times. After the first few he started to take it very personally.

In Ontario, in the Niagara fruit area, about 35 years ago or so, some Jamaican farm workers were hoeing in a field during some dry lightening. One of them decided to shake his hoe at the sky. He was hit and did not survive.
About ten years ago, maybe a little longer, a young woman and her father and some siblings were loading small square bales on to a wagon, a storm approached and they headed for shelter, pulled into an open sided hay shelter with her sitting on top. A lightening stroke came in horizontally and hit her. She was killed and the other survived.

Living in Lloydminster, experienced one of those thunderstorms from hell one night. Occurred to me I should go out of town a few miles with the camera and try to capture some lightning on film. Got all set up with the metal tripod, just like in the vid, watched a few strikes not very far from me, and got to thinking, “WTF am I doing??? Am I nuts???”
Packed it up quickly and got the hell outta there!

“I am healthy, mentally normal, and have never committed any crimes to date,” read Qian’s Weibo profile. “My newly built house was illegally and forcibly demolished, causing me massive losses. Ten years of fruitlessly trying to seek redress have forced me to go on a path I did not wish to take.”
Qian’s Weibo page attracted more than 30,000 followers overnight before being closed by Sina on Friday.
That’s despite the carnage Qian wrought — he set bombs outside government buildings, killing two other people aside from himself and wounding nine others.
Many likely signed on to parse why a seemingly ordinary man would resort to such violence. But his message board also quickly filled up with messages of sympathy and admiration.
“Rest in peace, old Qian, you blasted a lot of people awake,” one netizen, posting under the name evanfun, wrote. Many others called him a hero and promised he wouldn’t be forgotten.
Qian’s grievances resonate widely in China, where land disputes have mushroomed amid a fast-paced economic boom. Standoffs between tenants and developers often turn violent, with homeowners beaten by thugs or even crushed by bulldozers. Other tenants have set themselves on fire rather than face eviction.
Adding to the sense of powerlessness is a ban on public protests, a petition system in which citizens submit grievances in writing that is widely considered broken, and a legal system that favors the powerful and connected over ordinary citizens.”

We at Edmonton Sl*tWalk believe strongly that this event falls under Freedom of Assembly as an act of protest, as guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and is therefore not subject to the monetary obligations laid out by the City of Edmonton for “special events” run by registered non-profits and advocacy organizations. ”

True, syncro, but I doubt that most suggestions would make it through the spam filter. OTOH, after looking at the pictures of participants at previous S-Walks, I think scopophiliacs would pay those ladies to cover up.
LC Bennett, I’ll ask one of my brothers-in-law who lives in Edmonton if that would be tacky. I think I can also predict what his answer would be.

So do I read this correctly – that this Dupnik, who claimed conservative rhetoric contributed to the Loughner rampage, now wants to cover up what is effectively a homicide by his own department?
