  1. So it is true that socialism is wonderful only up to the point where it runs out of other people’s money to spend.
The euros will regret when they have their youth implement their version of an “Arab Spring”.
Gimme, gimme, gimme . . . the euro kiddies will redefine what it means to be entitled to perceived entitlements.
But the wine is cheap over there so who the hell cares. They are progressives, so smarter than us rubes over here.

  2. The kids are falling for the same fiscal flim-flam, economic jiggery-pokery and political horse manure that we did!
Brings a tear to your eye, doesn’t it?

  3. From the link this:
““From afar it’s tempting to romanticize the protests taking place in Spain right now, but they are not definitely a wakeup from Socialist utopia, but a call to delve further into it.”
    Fron Canada’s socialist Utopia we hear/see this*: $O$ $O$ $O$ ….. Harper, help. Aidez-moi. Send $$$$$

  4. People over 45 will be lucky if sick or old folks get a needle instead of a bullit. This is the harvest they have planted. You use poisened seed to raise the crop, what do you expect when its ripe? Socialism is the
    ergot poisoning of Humanity.

  5. Revnant Dream @ 9:13 PM….With all due respect…I think it’s time to change your name to Revnant REALITY.

  6. Those are disenfranchised youth, we’re talking about here. Better be careful about suggesting bulletproof glass, because the CHRC will view that as hurting their feelings and creating barriers so in turn will need to ruin your life.
    Don’t make them do it.

  7. I’ve said for many years that we will be the first generation to be euthanized by our own children, seems a lot of folks have figured out the same. It’ll start in Europe, and we always adopt European ways, especially if they don’t work too well.
Fortunately, my daughter became a nurse, and has promised to use a small, painless needle when mt turn comes, not the square ones they used when we first had our polio shots in the early ‘fifties.

  8. What justthinkin said.
The baby boomers are painted as villains, the protagonist – the evil actors in the universe who are accused of being against all that liberals consider good. It’s unwise to under estimate their animosity towards us.

  9. Correction: should read antagonist instead of protagonist.
The older generation was once upon a time considered a trusted source of wisdom gained through experience, now they’re considered an adversary, a senile people who are caught up in nostalgia. As a matter of fact, deconstructing the nostalgia myth is part of the standard curriculum in virtually all humanities courses.

  10. “And that’s why I’m replacing the windows with bulletproof glass.”
Huh? … why? … don’t you want to shoot the little buggers from your favorite chair?

  11. Baby boomers never had to grow up – why should they take responsibility for the mess they are leaving. Everything boomers preached in the sixties (drugs, free love, communes, appease your enemies, socialism, make love not war, if it feels good do it, etc) has turned into a total disaster.
Instead of owning up to how retarded we were, the typical boomer still likes to joke about how great their youth was – if they could remember any or it (giggle, giggle). I often feel like the only adult in the room. Boomers are totally narcissistic with no self awareness as to what a mess we have made of things. We have weakened the family and run up the credit card debt in the process seriously jeopardizing the future of western civilization. Its one thing to be immature when you are 16 or 21. Its totally unconscionable to be an irresponsible moron at 65.

  12. Just because there were a few freaks in the 60’s doesn’t make the whole generation a bunch of losers. Our generation has been responsible for more advancements in science, medicine, engineering, technology, you name it, than any generation before. If the snot nosed entitled brats want to go back to the 50’s and show us how to do it that is fine with me but first give up the cell phone, computer, video game, internet, email, facebook and the cushy lifestyle that our hard work has provided for them. How about they go back to carrying water, chopping wood and an outdoor shit house for starters. A little work wouldn’t hurt them either instead of having everything handed to them and blaming everyone else all the time. They don’t need to worry about saving the planet. The useless babies can’t even wipe their own asses.

  13. Why is it that people always have to find out the hard way that socialism is a false god.
“A ubiquitous protest slogan has been: “PSOE y PP, la misma mierda es,” which loosely translated means “Socialists and Conservatives, they are the same crap.” This phrase suggests that these people do not know what they want, but are fed up with the status quo.
It took decades to build the socialist state and will decades to dismantle it piece by piece in a peaceful way and that only if the people want to dismantle it. But I suspect that they do not want a free market state as that takes a different mindset than what they have been brainwashed with but rather a totalitarian form of socialism.
Just as I suspect that the strikers in Greece want even more of what they already have.

  14. You did all the all shit Fritz? Are you an eastern bastard?
I remember the NEP – I didn’t vote liberal … most in Alberta didn’t. All the packages the liberals brought in … I, and a whole lot of westerners, didn’t want … and didn’t vote for.
And altaguy/Kate, we have a lot of really great youth … the majority … my off-spring among them. The media focus is on the social retards.

  15. I agree with altaguy on the contributions of the boomers.
Unfortunately somewhere along the way the left wing radicals got into our political power structures, educational systems, and media and eroded all that was good about pre ww2 and the “liberations” that came afterwards.
Undeniably the 60’s was a cultural change by a few that sounded right and emotionally felt right, but eventually brought our cultural civility and moral compass to its knees.

  16. Robert @ 12:13, exactly. This Ana may have a degree and a masters, but does not have a clue about reality and how jobs are created.

  17. Altaguy:
“the cushy lifestyle that our hard work has provided for them.”
That was provided to all of us by the men and women that offered up their lives in WW1 and WW2, not your generation.

  18. Robert W. (Vancouver) >
    “…. “No One Is Illegal”.”
Well in “rich white countries” anyway. We won’t say a word about the rest of the worlds countries that have draconian immigration laws including any non-white rich countries like Japan, Taiwan, Singapore to name a few.
This is why youth is stupid and lefty adults are insane!
They can hold a placard in one hand “No one is illegal” and then one in the other hand “We don’t have jobs”.

  19. With 21% unemployment it’s not surprising that they’re pissed off. If that’s the overall rate the youth rate is probaby 50%, and that’s getting into the situation we had here in the dirty thirties. I doubt that they’re all pampered poli-sci grads like Ana – some of them probably have useful skills and they are, quite understandably, lashing out, even though they haven’t identified their enemies or the root of the problem.
Anyway, judging by the expressions on their faces and the generally innocuous nature of their signs, I don’t see them as terribly threatening, YET. Folkloric memories of the civil war in Spain are strong, and even the ignorant young don’t want to go there.

  20. I suspect these “youths” voted overwhelmingly for the current Socialist government, so no sympathy here.

  21. You can’t just blame the Boomer morons for the mess the world is in. It took the concerted efforts of morons everywhere and of every generation. Sadly moron seems to be a desired state of mind for way to many. It takes a village to care for a moron. Not enough villages.

  22. Spain has a very high youth unemployment rate. The problem is that spanish young people are highly “educated”. Spain has a very large agriculture industry. The parents of the educated youth worked on farms, thats beneath the dignity of the “educated ” youth. Spain is being reconquered by the Islamic hordes from north Africa, because without them, there would be nobody to work the farms despite a 40 percent unemployement rate. This is the result of free education, and welfare benefits, without which people would be productive.

  23. “Charest urges federal Defense Minister to visit flooded Quebec CTV.ca”
Are you suggesting governments should do nothing to assist their own citizens when they fall victim to natural disasters outside their own control?
What would even be the point of having governments then?
What would be the point of being a country?

  24. If I was the Prime Minister of Canada I wouldn’t give one cent to Quebec…as for the floods…start swimming up the St. Lawrence Seaway and all the way across the Big Pond to Mother France. How do Quebecer vote for a person they don’t even know…how stupid is that? We should have a referendum on whether we want these people to stay in Canada. I don’t think Canadians want them in this country. This country is so rich we should all be millionaires but we have to send billions each year to the socialists in Quebec. What about all the favors Ottawa had given Quebec? Take a look at Hull, now Gatineau, what are Federal govt buildings doing on that side of the river?
Quebec is a bully and always has been…as with any bully you have to stand up to them and then the bully crumbles….we will never have a solid professional relationship with Quebec until we do…..
    Adios Quebec….

  25. Sarnia Jim at May 22, 2011 12:42 AM
    How right you are Jim.
I’m submitting more RCAF grave marker photos to CVWM today and once in a while I come across this memorial inscription chosen by the parents:
“He gave his to-morrow for our to-day.”
They died in vain is my sad remark.

  26. Jim Barker: “It takes a village …”
    Actually, that’s the problem.
It actually doesn’t take a village to raise a child — that’s the full-time-mothering-is-beneath-me cop out — it takes a mom and a family to properly raise a child. It takes a hands-on mother (and, optimally, a hands-on dad) to civilize a child and that’s what’s not happening these days.
Acquaintances, neighbours, teachers, and substitute care givers — the proverbial “village” — can’t be expected to raise or civilize a child who isn’t their flesh and blood. Civilizing a child takes, literally, thousands of hours of intentional passing on of culture and manners, and most acquaintances, neighbours, teachers, and substitute care givers have neither the time nor the incentives to do the kind of job that needs to be done to turn out a well-rounded, reasonable, generous, and polite child.
    ‘Not enough mature, hands-on moms.

Respectfully you are not looking at ALL the social vectors, from abortion with its disgust against human life to enviromentalists that figure 500,000, 000 is what the Planet should have. Its not hidden go to any enviromental site. Than include the debt, the fact we killed a whole generation in aborrtion rooms. It won’t matter if you fought tooth & nail against the anti-Human agendfs. It grows bigger by the day the movement that looks at humans as th enemy of thier worship of this sphere. Include diminishing resourse & the inevatable wars & the senerio I pointed out is Noyt out of bounds. If you would think , look at all the angles & movements of the hour.
Just look at the hostlity towards Christians.
As population shrinks, so will rsources as well.

  28. Hey!!! Stop blaming the boomers. I worked 40 years, paid taxes through my nose, and as a senior, my income tax is even higher. We don’t have the write offs we had, when we were working.
It’s the governments corruption and the greedy giant corporations, who are to blame. These wealthy businesses hoard all the money. This stops the cash flow around the globe. Then guess what happens? We have a recession. How many booms and busts have we had, even since WW11? Right now, the gas and oil company’s are hoarding the gas, to drive up costs to the consumer. And our NEW majority government is sitting on his patoot and doing nothing about it. Know why?
Well, Harper gives banks, mines, large corporations, gas and oil company’s billions of our tax dollars. I watched that motion pass, while watching the House of Commons TV channel. They are also given huge tax reductions. Harper in all his super joy of a majority, gave them another reduction. This reduction comes off Canadians paychecks. Our government thieves from the citizens, to give to, the wealthiest corporations in the world.
Big corporations, are bottomless pits of greed. They even lined up at the trough, and squealed for the HST too.
Government corruption, has made many country’s collapse. When there are not enough people in work, to pay for all of the corruption, they add more and more taxes. Then the government steals more money. When the peoples finances collapse, and they don’t have enough money to live on. Down falls the country. Corruption and greed, is what kills. The citizens support the country, the governments don’t, they steal.

  29. Yawn… I thought you would have closed this place down by now. It’s tired. Sounds like you are too.
