Oh, I think it’s perfectly acceptable to start jesting about this right now. 😉
Snap! We finally get a Conservative majority and the world ends. I guess all the media talking heads who have been bemoaning the Liberal crash were right.
Well, according to the CBC, youth unemployment in Spain is at 45 percent so we are well on our way!
See you there!
Jesting aside.
I expect to buy a few extra lines of Lotto 649 for the draw tonight.
Socialism’s world has ended. Ole!

What time does the world end? …got to rush and take a shower.
So I should wait until tomorrow to pay off my Visa?
You might as well pay-off all your debts today because you cannot take it with you…
Hundreds of this crackpot’s followers sold off all of their assets and gave the money to his church in preperation for the rapture. Will Harold Camping go to prison for this?
Fools & their money . . .
If the moron class will fall for this con, no wonder so many fall for the global warming ponzi scam.
Better do a roll call to see who’s still here. Present
If all goes according to plan, after some traffic problems caused by drivers getting raptured, there should be a good supply of lightly-dented late model cars and trucks on the used car market in a week or so. Good time to trade up.
Forget about Harold Camping, I kinda think that Adult Baby’s ‘tude signaled the end of the world!
This would be a good day to buy that new “Anything” that you always wanted but can’t afford.
Seeing as you’ll never have to pay it off,why not!
Oh,and call your boss and tell him what you really think of him,and that annoying next door neighbour….
Camping claims this is all going to happen at 6:00PM. What he fails to tell us which time zone the bible is referring to.Eastern, Pacific, Standard, Daylight-savings ???????
I’d heard that it was supposed to be a “rolling Rapture” (kinda like a rolling blackout), where, as each time-zone ticks over to 6:00 P.M., the faithful in that time zone get transmogrified.
It’s gotta be 6:00 P.M. Saturday somewhere by now. Anyone heard any news? 😉
Well, it’s not Pacific time, and now I’m waiting to see if it’s Greenwich time.
If not then, I’m going to have my last big plate of bacon and eggs.
The family radio empire is worth 72 million dollars, so I think he can afford a few mistakes.
What it has done is make quite a few people think of the end days as mentioned in the Bible and that might not be a bad thing.
If only the world ended so easily….
Yeshewa Plainly said . Of those times no one knows except the Father, not even the Son. So if the Messiah did’nt know. Its ridiculious for a preacher from some hick town in No Wheresville.
This brings Christ into disreput while these cons rake in Money. Has it ever been thus. Right in the NT it warns about these people from the get go.
From the Montanists in the second century to the Millerites in the 19th. Its been a continuing headache for practicing Nazorites when these cons show up beating a drum thats plainly barren & counterdicted in Holy texts.
This happens on an almost 10 year calender.
Again only God knows the Time , no one else.

Hope the world doesn’t end for a few more hours. Still have quarter tank of gas to burn off on frivolous driving.
I’m thawing a big juicy New York strip steak. I want to go out with a full belly.
This afternoon I’m going to fill out the Claim forms for my wife’s life insurance. Just in case I make it and she doesn’t. I suppose she should fill out Claim forms on my insurance just in case the reverse happens.
I’m going to spend what’s left of my time sipping on some good scotch and listen to Eric Clapton play his amazing guitar.
Oh ya – I want to pay tribute to Kate and all the fine commentators on this site. That would exclude some of you and you know who you are.
Can’t wait for my 2pm t-time tomorrow.
Maybe we should look at this like a fire drill. Testing, testing! Are you ready?
My wife and I were having a discussion this morning as to whether it paid for me to do the vacuuming today.
I suspect that Arnold the “Termintor” hopes the world ends tomorrow before his soon to be ex-wife ends it for him.
But present and accounted for. Ever optimistic as am greasing up the press drill shortly.
Al Gore a member? An Investor? Suzuki?
Thanks Revenant Dream…
As a Bible believing Christ follower I know the world will end as scripture describes, but as you pointed out…”no one knows the times or season…”
This Camping group is a bit embarrassing, but it is a springboard to conversation.
Maranatha!!
Ha ha scr*w you RBC!
I was actually hoping that the world would end, since I had a dentist appointment today.
Revnant Dream, exactly. It is nutjob cons like this that give Christians a bad name and feed those that are prone to make fun of Christianity.
LS from SK, don’t get stuck. Plenty of guys around here keep a spare tractor on the field in case.
Black Mamba, elaborate please. It is going over my head. What is RBC in this context.
@Ken, – a spare Tractor in the field? Only big farmers in the South can afford that luxury and besides getting it out there this year could start the “Stuck in the Mud” contest all up again.
Royal Bank of Canada. From my perspective this is not so much the end of the world as it is a fortuitous student line of credit interest rate adjustment.
I have no sympathy for these people whatsoever. Some charismatic nutjob claims the end is nigh, and without questioning him they simply do as he says. With his doomsday prediction proven false they’re left looking like a bunch of dupes. But it’s their own fault for listening to that Al Gore dude.
I could make light of this also, but on a more serious note, the Camping prophecy was clearly premature and many evangelicals noted this fact in advance. We know it is premature because the “abomination that makes desolate” has not been witnessed, and almost all theories of prophetic interpretation call for that to occur some time ranging from 45 days to 3.5 years before the second coming or “end of the world” event.
Although some have noted that President Obama has the spiritual vibes of the expected desolator, opinion varies as to whether anything he has done so far would even qualify allegorically, and then many expect a more literal fulfilment of verses about the blasphemous declaration. Actually what was most interesting about the Camping prophecy was that we have seen two rather major events this month, first the killing of Bin Laden, and then the Obama speech with its overtones of betrayal of Israel. These are both rather ominous events if one supposes that the end times are near and that the focus of end time prophecy should be the military and political situation in the “world” as understood in Biblical times, basically what we call the Middle East.
So while it’s fine to mock the overly specific prophecy of Camping, I feel that he is probably combining two impulses, one being human in terms of power and commercial gain, but another being a natural response to prophetic insight on a more general time scale, that the times seem to be approaching with this confluence of events in the region that surrounds Israel.
Personally, I would expect there to be a much more dramatic crisis underway in the region than we see at present, to provide the necessary background conditions for the second coming. And I am one who is inclined more to see the “end of the age” than the “end of the world” so here again, I doubted the Camping prophecy to be valid because of its fixation on destruction and the rapture, an event that I think is probably a fictitious scenario based on a faulty interpretation of the words “caught up to heaven” in the passage that inspires belief in the so-called rapture.
You probably know that there are many different schools of thought based on the various Biblical passages, about how events line up in a timetable, about where the “tribulation” fits into the time (before or after a possible rapture or the second coming), and all of this tends to blur the general unity that might otherwise exist among evangelicals about where we are currently situated in any given timetable. And if one accepts as Camping did that the timetable is allegorical and much longer than either 3.5 or seven years of calendar time, then one can construct an infinite variety of plausible “timetable scenarios” taking significant events of the past as being start dates, days with given values like 1150 or 1260 taken from Daniel’s chronology, and so on, until you really have so many possibilities that you are no further ahead than the person who simply chooses to watch and pray on these events.
It is somewhat puzzling to read that there will be unmistakeable signs of the end time yet it will come as a general surprise or shock to the world. But I think what that means is that most of the world will be shocked, this is not to say that everyone will be caught unawares, because we are also told that through belief, we will be aware and ready. To my reading, that means that a reliable prophecy may be possible. This one was not it, and the way to test reliability, I feel, is to be aware of the structure of prophecy and to know what preconditions are necessary. Camping never made mention of an event that he would consider to be the abomination, and this was a sign that his prophecy was not fully inspired.
Well said Peter.
Yes, the events of things happening are interesting, but nothing yet.
You did miss another important event – the IMF head guy scandal and his resigning the post.
Till the day when Obama mouths “we’re pulling our support/funds/military” regarding Israel – we still have time.
We will always have wars and rumours of wars.
The only thing I was waiting to hear out of his mouth when Obama was killed was “peace, peace”.
That would be another big red flare going up.
On a side note, those chip on credit cards are another close sign. Just one more step before it is implanted in humans. Dare say I heard/read somewhere in Vancouver and/or Florida this is already in practice for bar crawls.
And remember who controls the info coming from those chip purchases and such will control the monetary system which in turn would be the world.
Interesting times indeed. If you have not received Jesus as your personal saviour, now is a good time to do it.
Simply get on your knees and say “forgive me Father, I believe Jesus died for my sins, and rose again. I believe He is coming soon, and I receive Jesus as my Lord and Master.”
Done. That easy. Was for me driving on a highway.
Whoops!I meant that when bin Laden was killed we’d hear Obama say “peace peace”.
Hope that wasn’t prophetic of me…
The good thing about jesting today is:
1) It confirms your confidence about their silliness
2) Jesting tomorrow is just confirmation bias
3) If you’re wrong, it makes our last day much less depressing.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but now that we know the world didn’t end today, I’ve got a whole new list of trivial things to complain about!
Has anybody checked in with OZ yet? After all, it is tomorrow there! Or is it even there?
“no one knows except the Father, not even the Son.”
I truly believe this; not when Christ said them on earth and not even to this very moment in Heaven at the Right Side of God does He yet know.
so where does that put camping? well, when the end does come there is a special place in hell for the likes of him. and benny hinn, and a raft of televagelists and fundies.
Thanks Black Mamba.
Yes, well said Peter. It appears that Peter O’Donnell has studied more than climate and weather.

We are bound to mutual self-destruct eventually, as any society/ empire has in the past. It’s in our genes.
I don’t advocate or belittle biblical prophecy, as I have no concrete proof for or against its validity. On one hand you can say it’s proven itself, on the other you can say that really smart people who watch other people can figure out what’s coming next. Some people are musically genius as with Beethoven, others in physics and others with viewing the circle of life & societies. Is that “Gods” manifestation in humanity? Perhaps.
