They are apparently the cause of the great Liberal implosion of 2011. Of course, they see the fix in regulating the media and ownership and censoring “untruthful” news. Examples here here and here

  10. Thanks, SDH. That’s an interesting, considered, and historically-informed essay. The belief that “Nazism was not a freakish episode but rather a culmination of a Sonderweg (special) path” inherent in the “Prussian ascendancy” may explain the German people’s now-longstanding anti-military stance, as well as some of the overwrought reaction to Merkel’s entirely reasonable statement that she was glad Osama bin Laden had been killed.

    RFI has joined France’s prestigious research institute, the CNRS, in launching an online museum of Stalin’s Gulag. Over 150 survivors have recorded their stories in a project of unprecedented scale – an internet first.
    Between 1939 and 1953, the Soviet Union deported almost one million people from the European territories it occupied. Some were sent to labour camps but most were deported to become settlers in villages in Siberia and central Asia.
    There they faced starvation, illness, humiliation and often, death.
    On 11 March, the French Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in cooperation with Radio France Internationale, which had already published a sound archive, launched an online museum with more than 150 testimonies of European survivors of the Gulag.
    Teodor Shannin, now 80-years-old, is one of them. He was present at the launch of the online museum.
    “I am delighted”, he says, “because this is an important piece of the history of eastern Europe about which very little is known.”
    Leading the research and responsible for the team carrying out the interviews with the Gulag survivors is Alain Blum, director of Russian, Caucasian and Central European studies with the CNRS.”

    A plan to name Ottawa’s new Central Archives and Ottawa Public Library Technical Services Facility after Charlotte Whitton has been shelved.
    The Ottawa Citizen reports Mayor Jim Watson is withdrawing his proposal to name the new facility after Ottawa’s first female Mayor.
    In a letter to Councillors, Watson says the opposition over Whitton’s efforts to deny Jewish refugee children entry into Canada during the Second World War has created “disunity” in parts of the City.
    The Citizen says the Mayor will allow Ottawa residents to provide suggestions on who the City should name the new building after.
    The Finance and Economic Development Committee approved the “Charlotte Whitton Library and Archives Building” name last week.”

    While it’s true that anti-Semitism was more rife in Canada in Whitton’s “times” than now, it’s also true that a great many Canadians in those “times” were not anti-Semitic, and sympathized with the plight of the Jews. So don’t excuse Whitton and her ilk as products of their times.
    We will watch with great interest when the full council votes on the Whitton disgrace this coming Wednesday; we’ll see who the collaborative thinkers are.

    Charlotte Whitton, anti-Semite, who, in the late 1930s as director of the Canadian Council On Child Welfare, successfully lobbied against the admission to Canada, as a safe haven from the spreading scourge of anti-Semitism in Europe, 500 Jewish orphans for no reason other than they were Jews. Some social worker. Some “child welfare.”
    Many of those orphans later died in the Nazi concentration camps, thanks to Charlotte Whitton who the mayor of Ottawa says is deserving of a new building named in her honour.
    As mayor in the ’60s, she prevented a $500,000 donation for a new wing at the Civic Hospital from Ottawa business magnate and philanthropist Bertram Loeb for no reason other than he was a Jew, she didn’t want a Jewish name on the wing. Loeb gave the donation to Carleton University which was honoured and grateful.”

Sammy, Hope, Crosby, Rooney, Martin and Sinatra where the core of a generation of true entertainers that could sing, dance and act. It’s kind of hard to name someone these days with all round talent.

If this is so, it would have entailed the ceremonial washing and wrapping of the corpse by another Muslim — symbolic of the cleansing away of the decedent’s sins. Those gathered at the service, presumably naval and other U.S. government personnel aboard the ship, would then have been required to face Mecca as Islamic prayers were recited, including the following:

    I’ve written many prayers. This one is STUPID! No self-respecting, observant Christian would pray such navel-gazing, me-me-me drivel. (Honestly, this narcissistic, empty-headed prayer suggests that Obama really is a Muslim. E.g., If, in his childhood, he regularly heard this kind of prayer, with the self-regard and arrogance it displays, this would explain his overweening sense of entitlement and his astonishing arrogance.)
