NDP Going After the Barfly Vote in Quebec

It appears that an NDP candidate in Quebec is doing her campaigning from Las Vegas. This peculiar story about a candidate who works in a bar in Ottawa is but one of many in what’s turning out to be a very strange election campaign.
There are no reports, as of yet, about how NDP volunteers in Ruth Ellen Brosseau’s riding of Berthier-Maskinongé feel about her absence from the campaign.

  1. If this election leads to jacko and his merry band of socialist looters getting access to the treasury, I think there are going to be a lot more barflies (or barf-leys) in this country.
Ruth Ellen Brosseau for Minister of Ditzy Walks.
Pat Martin for Minister of Anger Management.

  2. Just another reminder that the people of Quebec are to stupid to vote, an absentee canadate is going to win a riding she’s absent from. Hay she sounds just like Iffy.

  3. If only I’d known, my 21 year old daughter could have used a decent job, and MP on her resume to boot.
Hey, maybe I should have run, and I’m fluent in both languages. Could have been a conservative in dipper clothing. I’d probably be elected ’cause most people don’t pay attention to what is being said. A co-worker said she was not voting for Harper because he called this election. I had to set the record straight, and the whole time I am thinking WTF??

  4. Hey, I wanna be an NDP MP and get free money for doing nothing too! Where do I sign up?
    Bastids, eejits, monkey tards.

  5. @Jethro – absolutely. She’s really what we call an opportunistic bloodsucking bastard. Hope that works for you.

And, ‘I was just joking’ doesn’t count.

  7. In my riding of Wellington-Halton Hills, the NDP candidate has no election signs out anywhere that I have seen and never showed up at any all-candidates meetings. In the riding adjacent, Halton I have seen only 2 election signs for the NDP. Is this a case of 2 more ridings with absentee candidates and they call themselves a “national” party? Af far as the Green party goes, there are more generic Green party signs posted than ones with candidates names on them.

  8. “Yup, Jack Layton is for fixed election dates.”
thats right freebie, and if Jack gets the votes he will goddamm make sure we have fixed election dates.
wtf else was anyone supposed to do in the total ABSENCE of fixed election dates? wait for stevie harpoon to deign to issue an edict from on high?
and yes as far as personal attacks, there is more than enough of that here.
oh, and dickhead, “Carleton University, the English-language university you attend if you can’t leave Ottawa to go somewhere decent for your degree (i.e. you work full time in Ottawa) or just don’t have the booksmarts”
my kid graduated from there around 1993, signed up for the fed office pool and now pulls in gawn knows how much ensuring the downloaded tax forms are the correct ones. some ‘un’booksmarts. she picked carleton because it had by far the BEST facilities for disabled.
she has never so much as applied for ODSP, instead using her substantial intellect AND trainloads of common sense to support herself.
I bet YOU have only finished high school. yup. I got a real strong hunch you’re the type that disses post-secondary education seeing as YOU lack more than 10% of the necessary ‘book smarts’.

Or, just leave your scroll wheel where it is and feast on the irony.
    pinheads, heh

So how does that work when voting for any money bill is a confidence vote and if the bill is voted down an election is automatically triggered?
Do you really think that an Alberta Premier is going to allow constitutional changes by a Bloc Coalition government that usurps the CPC if the CPC has the largest number of votes?

  12. What are Iggy’s “handlers” feeding Iggy?

    Evidence? Verbatim Iggy:
“If I went a little too far, I don’t want to leave that impression. I have a lot of respect the linguistic competencies of people who are not at ease in French or in English, but what I mean to say was what I look for in my candidates is a comprehension of both official languages.”

Yeah, Oz, pinheads in the classic Bill O’Reilly definition.
Like, if somebody has nothing factual to contribute to a debate, resort to name-calling.
I taught my kids that the first person who name-calls in a debate automatically loses.
    Pinhead describes such a person.

  14. I taught my kids that the first person who name-calls in a debate automatically loses.
    ~set you free(namer of pinheads)
How about the second person to name-call in a debate?
Do they win because they were second instead of first?
What if the first name-caller has better points in the debate but they were just faster at name-calling?
Does the second name-caller still automatically win?
What if it’s a 3 way debate and the 3rd person is literally a bimbo and has no points at all to make and didn’t even show up for the debate ’cause they were in Vegas?
Do they automatically win because they weren’t there to name-call but the other 2 were, does the 3rd debator win and the first name-caller automatically loses because they were handier with a name than the second?
What happens with the second name-caller in that scenario, do they win or just get a consolation prize?
    This could get confusing.
Or did you just make this rule up on the spot because you were the third person to name-call and only the first person to name call automatically loses according to this rule?
Why do name-callers have to be pinheads anyway, can’t they be douchebags?

  15. Oz:
OK, let me talk real slow.
First one to name-call automatically loses the debate.
Therefore, the debate is OVER due to lack of intelligent response.
    Capice?

  16. The French article just rehashes what we already know, Wally, and gets comments from the three other parties’ candidates about the NDP running an Anglophone candidate who doesn’t know the riding, its people or its issues. I was pleased to see that the writer let the Conservative candidate get her full comment in and that it was cited as the last word in the report.

  17. What I am seeing here is a whack of folks that are jumping to confusions…..
The seems to be some confusion between getting on a ballot and getting elected. It is possible that Ms Brosseau shares this confusion. It is obvious that she is not a serious candidate.
How many more NDP candidates, like this, are out there?
More and more these optimistic poll #s for Taliban Jack’s mob seem greatly exaggerated.
It seems much more credible that the LIBRANOs and the BLOC are treading water….
After witnessing the US experience with electing OBOZO and the promotion of the CO2 AGW scam, why would we even consider the musings of the MSM?
Meanwhile here in Ontariario we have genuine tempests raising havoc…apparently even killing a senior with a garage door.

  18. Oz and other:
So, if somebody calls somebody else a bimbo, does that make them a smarter person than the alleged bimbo?
Does piling on, agreeing with the first name-call, constitute proof of higher intelligence?
Can anybody prove that their IQ has elevated somewhere higher than a house plant if they call somebody they do not know a bimbo?
    Pitiful.

  19. Can anybody prove that their IQ has elevated somewhere higher than a house plant if they call somebody they do not know a bimbo?
    ~set you free
How about somebody who, during the course of dressing other people down for name calling, calls them a name like ‘pinheads’ and then fails to notice they’re being mocked for it?
How should that person prove their IQ has a higher elevation than a house plant?
For the criteria behind calling Brosseau a bimbo see Oz at April 28, 2011 11:58 AM.
It it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and ducks out to Vegas like a duck…it’s a duck.

Will he respect anybody in the morning?

  21. Unilingual Anglophone in a Francophone riding – Check
Not even campaigning in the riding (Currently in Las Vegas) – Check
But Michael Ignatieff has told us that Quebec voters are “the most sophisticated voters in the whole world”
I guess Iggy is back on his way to the Harvard Kennedy School of Government
    I hope she wins…

  22. Don’t know about Brosseau, but one thing I do know is that whoever signed her nomination papers is a bimbo.

Maybe I’m missing the point, but isn’t THAT the point? She’s a barfly, for God’s sake, and she could sidle into an MP’s job while on vacation simply because of “momentum” for the NDP, and the vacuousness of our electorate???

  24. “This poor girl @ pat martin. No! No! No!”
She works in a bar – I’m sure she’s had many opportunities to learn how to handle obnoxious, arrogant, sexist blowhards.
