I am sure Elections Canada will be right on it.
The only thing Dosanjh and his followers have ever known how to do is whine.
Doesn’t look too vandalized to me. Wouldn’t be something to garnish attention would it?
Bad Conservatives did this!
Oh! Fack!~ I just won’t be able to sleep tonite. What the fack kind of country am I living in anyhow?
Barkeep – another Pil, eh.
“Dozens of election signs in Liberal MP Ujjal Dosanjh’s Vancouver riding have disappeared or been damaged in a “deliberate” act of vandalism, according to his campaign.”
By the time this gets to a BC court it will come down as an “accidental” act of vandalism and no one will be charged. It will have been a homeless NDPr on crack or something like that.
When Mother Nature gets human rights because she is a “person” then can I file a complaint because she blew my lawn sign right off my lawn?
I love how he refers to it as “illegal campaigning”. Like it is some dirty right wing tactic, rather than someone disgruntled with an obvious douche.
Were the signs made of comfy fur?
OMG…what’s next? TP in the trees? Flaming bags of dog crap on doorsteps? Is Heddy Fry safe?
Anti-vote mobs?
Welcome to the wonderful world of spin… A visible minority is being “violently” attacked (or at at least his property is) and stolen from… Oh my… It must have been done by those evil conservive-harper-bush-nuckledragging-neorethuglicans because they hate Liberal values and a liberal staffer said so, so it’s true…
Actually, it would be very funny if everyone who’s had a lawn sign vandalized would call their local CBC affiliate to ask for an interview.
Heh.
“Our hope is that Elections Canada will allow democracy to flourish by remaining vigilant against such illegal campaigning ….
Is he expecting Elections Canada to be out there patrolling the streets, night and day, so they can catch someone doing the dastardly deed?
One of my volunteer duties for the Conservatives in a suburban Vancouver riding is to fix the vandalized signs. We have 2 or 3 signs down every day and 5 on weekend nights. Green Party and NDP signs are also vandalized. I would comment on the Liberal signs but there aren’t any. By and large the vandalism is just teenage boys being teenage boys.
Sign vandalism is part of the game and most campaigns just deal with it. Ujal Dosanjh is a media whore victim crybaby. (This is a personal opinion and in no way represents the official position of the Conservative campaign in this riding who don’t even know what a small dead animal is.)
If ever there was a political whore it’s Dosanjh (if I am allowed to say that without prejudice of course).
Don’t forget he was an NDP interim premier of BC after the crook Glenn Clark was booted.
Dosanjh will do anything to be in politics. I think it’s a self esteem thing.
My first thought was that due to his popularity amongst his own ethnic group….. Then I concluded he did it himself or had someone do it for him so he could get some face time on TV.
Man … I’ve replaced so many signs I could have a nice bonfire with all the broken stakes… actually …. that’s not a bad idea.
The truly pathetic thing in the Dosanjh story (other than Dosanjh that is ) ….. the CBC publishing a story about it.
I got an email last week asking for donations to my local candidate to repair/replace a half dozen broken/stolen signs.
This seems like a regular occurrence…

Nailed it!
So many signs on Fraser St., how could you even tell if some were missing?
Back in the 1970s, a newspaper (probably the Globe and Mail) reported that Pierre Trudeau himself had kicked down a lawn sign of one of his opponents while out campaigning (with journalists in tow).
A subsequent letter to the editor asked, “Is anything going to be done about this, or are the Liberals above the law?”
Where I live, the further left you are, the more entitled you are to be rude and disrespectful. Dosanjh should look to his own house.
Our house has the only Conservative sign in blocks. It went up yesterday. It’s doing fine, but our fence was vandalized. It looks like someone kicked it and it will cost quite a lot to have it fixed. When I spoke to the police about the incident, the officer implied that I shouldn’t have provoked the lefties in the neighbourhood. “I’m a free citizen in a free country [for how much longer?] and I have a right to put up a sign,” I said. The response, I kid you not, was “Well I guess you also have a right to be vandalized.” That did not go down well and I let the officer know what I thought. He then conceded that his response was “inappropriate”.
I find the left’s arrogance, entitlement and, just below the surface, its fury and tendency to throw tantrums and engage in violence very scary. I’ve actually parked my car away from my home and will keep it there until the sign comes down. (The Conservative campaign people visited me when I reported the vandalism to them, and offered to remove the sign. No way, I said.)
I’m sure the CBC would have no interest in my story.
Doen’t look like the stakes were pounded in too deep although the one on top looks like it sat on the ground a bit. I’d guess an inch or so.
*
i blame george bush.
*
Look at the dirt lines on the stakes in that CBC photo of the sign.
Four inches in the ground and no more would be my guess.
Also sign looks suspiciously undamaged and positioned.
probably just my caveman paranoia showing thru again!
Last election we had an incident here…..
A fella, alerted by his dogs observed a pickup cruising down the road and called 911….then called an acquaintance further up.
This was a rural concession road fairly heavily strip developed.
The local constabulary dispatched 2 units…one from each end and easilly apprehended a trio of late teens with the pickup box holding a quantity of covservative and NDP lawn signs…..
Despite follow up inquiries/complaints there were no charges laid…..or news reports…..
Whaddaya expect from people that believe private property is a form of violence? If I had to choose only two changes from the next government, they would be defunding the CBC and introducing school vouchers.
Another of my volunteer duties with the Conservatives in a suburban Vancouver riding is to go door to door with our candidate. When we come across very supportive Conservative voters the candidate asks if they would like to have a lawn sign. It is no exaggeration to say that in many cases the conservative supporters recoil in horror at the contemplation of what might happen to them or their property. (Unionized cops are not our friends despite the Conservative’s law and order agenda.)
“Dosanjh will do anything to be in politics. I think it’s a self esteem thing.”
Nope,Abe, the Hero of Gustafson Lake just doesn’t want to have to work a REAL job.
What about the building owner who had his large conservative sings spray painted on white ave in Edmonton, Rutherford had him on this morning.
I’m sure the cbc call shortly after…
in my little suburb, the day after the election was called, there were blue Conservative signs everywhere on the boulevards…..today all that can be seen are a few Liberal and large numbers of Green and Dipper signs…..no Conservative signs to be seen anywhere anymore….OH CRY ME A FRICKIN RIVER, UJJAL…….doesn’t matter anyway, our Conservative MP routinely wins by no less than 10,000 votes anyway, LOL…
“Our hope is that Elections Canada will allow democracy to flourish by remaining vigilant against such illegal campaigning and that all authorities will continue to strive to protect private citizens and private property from this pattern of dangerous behaviour,” Caley said.
Someone quick call Caley – he has lied to the Canadian people – there are no property rights in Candaharhar. Turdo took the BNA Act and extinguished all the individual rights of Canadian citizens. Tell that Dipper sleaze ball, former Premier of B.C. , to go cry to his hero in the graveyard – Monsier PET. The Reform Party has dibs on all vandalizing of signs and sabotage, you are years and several $$ of stolen money too late Ujjal.
I have been a sign worker in the distant past during several spring elections and have always admired the civic pride of many of my fellow citizens of Italian extraction. If you are friendly and polite, signs from all parties, especially those with substantial wooden stakes of a decent height, are usually welcome and given pride of place on their lawns for the duration.
Is Hedy Fry sane? is the real question syncrodox. I hear they’re burning crescent moons in Prince George as we speak!
At least Bloc signs aren’t being destroyed in Vancouver … well, none of the direct signs … forget it.
In other news … Hedy didn’t die from the Swine Flu 2.0. She did however get into line with her elbows up … but no baby died because of her.
I feel terrible for Uujal, someone this shallow coming into indirect contact, with this many people shallower than himself, I’m referring to the CBC dolts, not the “evil”sign” tamperers. Check out if it was the FIve Man Electrical Band there Uji, things that go around, come around Uji, Hirji whatever.
If you look at that pic there are several things wrong.
The stakes aren’t broken at all, you can clearly see the saw cut 45 on the bottom of each
They are only dirty on just the very tips so there is no way it was installed properly ever.
It probably just blew over in the wind because it was only in the ground 1″
Also why are the stakes on the wrong side?
This really seems fake.
I think this is pretty obvious to be a scam. There is no way that that sign was ever pounded into the ground. What did they pound it with a pencil? with all the rain we been getting you coulda shoved it in a foot er two. Even if you only had limp wrists. Maybe they need to ask for a government grant to fund a “sign puttin upun course” I’ll offer to teach it. I will promise to make the course last for months and there even be tests and stuff.
Several signs were lit afire on one street….see, that was probably lightning strikes caused by global warming (which is the fault of Stephen Harper and the Conservatives). I’m surprised the CBC didn’t cover that angle. If I had a dime for every election sign in my area that was altered or relocated, I’d be wealthy. It ain’t news.
Boohoo. Lay a sign on it’s side, call the media, call Lib lovin’ EC, get national attention.
Sounds pretty desperate.
As for burning signs, could they be phantom burnings like Hedy’s crosses?
Conservative signs have been getting slammed and graffitied all over Halifax, but I haven’t seen a single local news item on it, let alone nationally.
Is the Dosanjh sign double-sided? If not then the person who put the sign together is a boob; s/he nailed the message side of the sign to the frame instead of putting the blank side against the frame and nailing through the face.
It causes me to suspect some neo-liberal campaign handler who has never swung a hammer threw this sign together…..
Elections Canada is flying in a special envoy from Guelph to evaluate the situation. They are to report directly to Iggy before taking any actions.
My first thought was that due to his popularity amongst his own ethnic group….. Then I concluded he did it himself or had someone do it for him so he could get some face time on TV.

My first thought as well, oh well the Liberal Media blames us for every perceived wrong we’re use to it.
In Newmarket-Aurora there is a local narcissist-Elvis-impersonator-troll named Dorian Baxter who runs in each election, encouraged by Sinclair Stevens and probable cash infusions from those who would benefit from vote splitting. Early Sunday morning as we drove along the road leading into the Aurora Home Show, we noticed that most of the Liberal signs and most of the Conservative signs had been pulled up and tossed in the gully. However, there had appeared marching rows of Dorian signs, for his “Progressive Conservative Party”. There is a court injunction against his use of the name. Elections Canada has been repeatedly asked to take action, but has done nothing. Of course. Mr. Baxter ( who has his own little Elvis “church” and set of earnest gullible followers) adds nothing to the local debates but pomposity and occasional comedy.
It’s rare I agree with SDA, but yes—this is a non-story. Election signs are vandalized all the time, though I imagine it gets irritating by the tenth time.
What happened to your sign, Kate?
Had a similar incident in Edmonton and it turns out the perp works for a NDP MLA.
The NDP issued a statement that the guy did it as a private citizen.
The Dosanjh camp said last Friday, several signs were lit on fire along one street…
Must have been a once in a lifetime multiple lightening strike.
I am sure Elections Canada will be right on it.
The only thing Dosanjh and his followers have ever known how to do is whine.
