102 Replies to “The First American Prime Minister”

  1. FYI: All who have Bell for a TV service. Sun News Net is being broadcast on Channel 213, called Sun Media TV. Right now David Akin is on & almost over. I never watch CBC so do not really care about botox, Mansbridge and Ignatieff. I am more concerned with some of Ignatieff’s policies.

  2. TiDavis
He is referred to as the first American Prime Minister because:
    – He lived and worked in the US for more years than in Canada.
    – In an interview he basically said he was American. “It’s your country just as much as it is mine”
    – He claimed to be voting for Kerry.
    and there’s so much more…
    He was however born here.

  3. TiDavis at 6:45 PM: You might want to stroll through a few of the links here.
He was a Harvard professor, and before that a journalist in Britain, for 30 or so years before he returned to Canada and was anointed by the Liberal Party as their leader. He’s proven over and over that he doesn’t really know much about what makes Canada tick in 2011. His ideas are about 30 years (or more) out of sync, but then again, the same can be said of the Liberal Party in general.

  4. anne: Thank you very much. I guess that would explain the carpetbagger references I have seen too. Apprieciate the info.

  5. of course he’s botoxed!
What’s good for John Kerry is good for The Count – He voted for him after all!

  6. Trump would give Iggula a spot on The Apprentice if he thought he could work, and he didn’t already have one wingnut, Busey, to babysit. Where is your cash comming from Iggster, Canada wants to know?

  7. THE GOOD NEWS!!!
‘Interesting that there are no stats put up at National News Watch under this headline:
More Canadians prefer Stephen Harper as PM: poll
Innovative Research poll (CityNews/Maclean’s) asked the question, “Who is best suited to be PM?”
    Stephen Harper: 36%
    Michael Ignatieff: 22%
    Jack Layton: 20%
    3%: Ellie May

  8. How’s CBC and CTV going to cover up Iffy admiting the coalition is alive and well? I am so sick of Liberal Media and the Ottawa Press Gallary lying to cover his sorry lying behind.

  9. Having been in dermtology for several years and seeing the results of botox injections in my patients, I’d bet money he’s been injected.
Most wrinkles occur in the central forehead – his are on the sides. Also, when compared to older pictures of him, his brows seem to be lower than they were before

  10. Beauty, finally the rest of Canada gets to vote for the Bloc,a ‘X’ for any Liberal candidate will do it.

  11. Carl and others.
Ulm….if Layton becomes Oppo leader or third party leader after the Bloc is oppo then he becomes PM in a minority Parliament.
We are talking Ontario wehn Bob rae became premier. Something absolutley nobody wanted or expected. Oh and don’t count on Iggy winning his seat. While more likely than not, it isnt a terribly safe seat, and it is in Ford country.
Layton as PM. Think about it.

  12. I think Iggy is down for the count now, you might want to go after Jack. It is a bit unseemly to be pounding away on an unconscious guy.

  13. Very good question Bartinsky…just where is the Librano money coming from?
Is there any chance that the networks are donating the air time to their campaign? There sure seems to be a copius amount of ads aired at the most expensive times of day…

  14. Roger Smith was doing his damndest to provide cover for this huge gaffe..he literally was trying to make the case for why this should happen! (on PP with Don Martin, late edition)

  15. The leftist Death-Struggle.
    That’s all that’s left (sic).
Liberal Count Ignatieff has conceded and defaulted to a failed Separatist Coalition.
The socialist brothers are locked into a death spiral.
The only question is: Which loser will be No. 1 Commissar Dog in the socialist troika.
    Down with socialism.
    Stand with PM Harper.

“For Layton, the real battle is with Ignatieff
    Toronto Star – Joanna Smith – ‎42 minutes ago‎
LONDON, ONT. – New Democrats are determined not to bleed support to the Liberals, so Jack Layton has been campaigning hard against Michael Ignatieff to keep the progressive vote.”

  16. “wtf,was that a job interview for mansbridge ?”
I sure as hell hope not. Mansbridge has been nothing more than a cheerleader for the Liberals for years. He has not one ounce of integrity or moral fibre and, if not for the parasitic CBC and the generosity of Canadian taxpayers, he would be driving a cab or chronically unemployed.
As for the NDP becoming the official opposition, a coalition is still a very real possibility and personally I would rather see Attila the Hun as prime minister before Jack Layton. He is even more reckless and stupid than Ignatieff.

  17. The folks at Sun TV must be smirking and high-fiving for having the Liberal Party of Canada pay for their first two weeks of broadcasting.

  18. A few brief thoughts:
    1) I tweeted this earlier but Kate didn’t pick it up, so I ask here…
“At minute 4:00, Iggy says he fought 2 elxns and won the confidence of the people. What elxns has he fought? Was I asleep?”
    2) I was half expecting Iggy to start leaking like Bishop in the movie Alien, then totally wig out upon realizing that he just outed himself and his hidden agenda, forcing Mansbridge to bash him repeatedly in the head with a fire extinguisher.
    3) May and the Greens at ~3% ? At that rate, by 02 May, her vote subsidy might *just* cover the repairs to her constituency office in SGI. 😉

  19. Re: Peter Manholecover- Say what you will, but how many of us can claim to have boinked Wendy Mesley? You dawg you!
But he don’t stop there….he’s been doing the same to Canadians for decades. And being paid handsomely to do so, I might add!

  20. Almost worth watching that a few times and counting how many times he contradicted himself.. I, am however too busy watching the Canucks get smoked.IMHO, thought Peter was damned good, he certainly wasn’t buying Iggy’s poo.

  21. Mansbridge asked some straight questions. And had little trouble trapping Iggy into some goofy answers. But check this out! Kady O’Malley, who makes little secret of her leanings, liveblogged the interview. Here’s the liveblog:
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/inside-politics-blog/2011/04/liveblog-michael-ignatieff-goes-under-the-mansbridge-o-scope.html
Just about everyone is noting Iggy’s confession that he’s prepared to form a government. But in Kady’s liveblog? The briefest, briefest of mention – a fast reader would miss it.
More CBC bias. Sell. It. Off. Now.

  22. Mansbridge says…”Why is coalition such a dirty word? Western coalitions are thriving”. These two snakes in the grass didn’t fool me. Mansbridge is just getting the coalition idea out there. He knows Iggy is toast and the only way he’ll get $2 Billion or whatever funding for CBC promised to them,is if Ignatieff ends up in the big chair with Jack & Jill. Why do you think Iggy is getting all those free ads and cheerleading from CBC in this election? Funny Mansbridge didn’t bring up the Block running the show.Mansbridge looking after Mansbridge. Ignatieff looking after iggy.

  23. 19:42 mark
…..this guy understands what a Liberal government *might* do for him……
    {insert joke of choice}

  24. “I did notice the Joe Biden look and would say he tweezed the unibrow into a pair but he still manages to have that ‘looking down on his subjects’ scowl.”
…and his expression as he quickly made a saluting gesture was *odd.*

  25. Ontario Girl,
I think Mansbridge was just throwing Ignatieff a bit of bait.
Ignatieff took it hook, line, sinker, rod, and reel. Huge, huge gaffe.
Am not psychologist but I think Mansbridge views Ignatieff with a bit of disdain.

  26. I think that Mansbridge is being given too much credit for this interview simply because he applied a little pressure to Ignatieff.
Mansbridge sacrificed what little journalistic integrity he had years ago when he decided to make a career of tossing softballs to Liberal interviewees. Just because he threw a couple of curveballs to Ignatieff does not make him any less of an elitist Liberal stooge.

  27. Pansbridge didn’t lob any curve balls. Count Ziffy MIA happened to, as he usually does, whiff on a couple of T balls.

  28. CBC bias: “But in Kady’s liveblog? The briefest, briefest of mention – a fast reader would miss it.”
Boy — if she actually managed to do that she is better than I thought she was. But why would anyone “liveblog” something that is on TV anyway? What’s the point?

  29. Good point Louise, the money must help, new Sun 517 station is very good so far, breath of fresh air in a liberal media elevator full of lieberal farts. Presently Obama is being investigated as far as his donors of over 750 million last election. I would like to see someone investigate these lying liberals of Canada’s finances, could it be the same big donors from Obamas phoney win are now helping the Iggster/Harvard/Unions/Hollywood/on and on, they couldn’t pay attention 4 montes ago, now the lieberals dine on caviar while watching their attack ads on a private Gulfstream, Go Figure Canada.

  30. I thought that, for anyone with a functioning bullshit detector, that interview was professionally well done. Mansbridge came out of it looking better than Ignatieff.

  31. All the rest of the campaign means nothing. Either PMSH gets a majority or the coalition fix is in – pure and simple.
We can only hope and pray.

  32. Breaking news.
Sun news reports this am that Iggy was deeply involved in the planning of the Iraq war.
Seems that according to the records they’ve quoted that he was a key contributor to the Pentagon during the planning stages.

  34. Leftist pundit ends his history lesson in 1918.
The leftist brothers, Russia’s Joe and Germany’s Adolf, fought to the death from 1938-1945.
The leftist brothers, Jack and Michael, are locked into their own Death-Struggle.

“But the Liberals didn’t go that way. Instead, they dusted off the Schlieffen Plan, went left, and are now in a war of attrition that will, barring a sudden breakthrough, end in defeat.
When Germany collapsed, the Kaiser resigned and went into exile. The good news for Michael Ignatieff is that the Kaiser lived for many more years. The bad news is that he seldom had visitors.”

  36. More importantly…why is the CBC paying an employee of the CBC to liveblog an interview being conducted by the CBC?
Your taxdollars hard at work folks….
