  1. A Saskatchewan-D-Day tie in…
Multi-Man Publishing (with whom I have absolutely no affiliation) is taking pre-orders here http://www.multimanpublishing.com/tabid/59/ProductID/153/Default.aspx for the latest entry in its wargame Tactical Combat Series, Canadian Crucible, pre-order price $39 + $8.93 S&H to Canada. 480 pre-orders are needed for the game to go into production; there are currently 142 orders. Posting this here in an attempt to help it get to 480:)
This is a famous action for which the Regina Rifles earned a battle honour, a real Canadian feat of arms.
    From the game description:
[The game] depict[s] the Canadian defense of Norrey on D-Day +2 (June 8, 1944) against a counterattack spearheaded by Grenadiers of the 12th SS Panzer Division .
The battle depicted here begins on D-Day +2, June 8th, and continues for the next 3 days and was known by the Germans as the First Battle for Caen. The situation unfolds with the 7th Brigade of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division dug-in on its D-Day objectives. Aware of the resounding defeat that the 9th Brigade suffered the previous day at the hands of the Hitler Youth, the 7th prepares a Fortress around Bretteville, Norrey and Putot. The soldiers of the Regina Rifles and the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, still under strength from their D-Day losses, wait their turn for the inevitable encounter with the Grenadiers of the 12th SS Panzer Division . The Canadian must hold their thin red line at all cost as failure to do so could result in a serious set back affecting the invasion time table and loss of the initiative to the Germans.
This game is a well-balanced, 1-map fight between the highly motivated 12SS Hitlerjugend and their equally motivated Canadians who are determined to preserve and expand their D-Day bridgehead.

  2. EBD, nice choice.
FYI I attended a concert last week where Evgeny Kissin played Chopin and Grieg concertos. Very nice, especially the Grieg.

“I can’t comment on the specifics of this because the State Department is going through this complicated review process, and if it looks like I’m putting my fingers on the scale before the science is done, then people may question the merits of the decision later on,” Obama said when asked by an audience member about Canada’s oilsands. “So I’m not going to get into the details of it.”
In other words, Totus ain’t working right now, but I’ll give ya a shout out later!

  4. Sgt. Paul Boothroyd survives a sniper round in the head.
    Money quote:
“…I really wasn’t terribly concerned because I could hear bullets whipping above me, but I still had the presence of mind not to stand up.
I thought, ‘Well, I don’t have any brain damage, at least at this point.'”

  5. Before we get too high and mighty, let’s remember that it was Tommy Douglas who had a Ku Klux Klan grand dragon as a campaign manager. Daniel C. Grant, the KKK leader, as Tommy’s campaign manager, would travel from rally to rally with Douglas and when Tommy Douglas stood before a crowd with a very well known KKK leader, everyone got the message.

  6. Video: Caroline Glick Toronto- “They can be Palestinians…Just not on my land”
Just got back from the Caroline Glick talk – good stuff. That may not be an exact quote by the way, but it’s darn close;) I’ll revise it once the video is uploaded.
    This is part 1, 2,3 & 4, Q&A will have to wait

  8. I often wondered why Col Pat Stogran never got beyond Colonel. After all, the first commander of Canada’s involvement in Afghanistan and all in all a successful tour, other than the friendly fire incident, which he could hardly be held to any blame for.
Well, it turns out that his commanders knew something the rest of were not let in on.
    THE MAN IS A MORON.
Some of the comments from today’s CP article on him,
“Stogran said the country needs parties with long-term vision, “grassroots movements like we saw in Cairo and Tunisia and Libya.”
“Canadians are sick of our democracy,”

  9. “I often wondered why Col Pat Stogran never got beyond Colonel.”
I’ve wondered the same thing about Gaddafi. He seems like the kind of guy who would have promoted himself to Supreme Intergalactic Emperor by now.
