There are days I think it would be good to have a Liberal-NDP backed government for awhile just so these moronic students could graduate into a job market that is shrinking, a government that is screwing over the western provinces economic engine and massively increasing the cost of our federal government.
    All those student debts and no jobs.
    Worked in BC – a couple years of NDP nanny state government is an amazing cure-all.

  2. How about hunter’s camoflauge? That should scare the be-jesus of Iggy since he thinks there’s a vast conspiracy of rural long-gun owners threatening the country with a violent uprising. Meanwhile the only people putting bullets into one another heads are the “innocent” gang bangers and drug dealers in the cities that Iggy defends and wants to keep out of jail.
    I say play up Iggy’s paranoia until he finally seeks psychiatric help — show up dressed head to foot in camo, military-surplus jungle boots, and all the “scary” but legal paraphenalia.

    But you can understnd it coming from the students and the stupid. After all, ignorance is an excuse.
    But when politicians like McGuinty commit to this crap with no care or concern for the long-term consequences, that’s not ignorance, that’s negligence of the highest order.
    These pathetic slugs would give up the last shred of whatever remnants of dignity they might still possess to retain power. They are quite prepared to sacrifice the well-being of future generations to do it.
    Power. Quite the thing….I guess…

    Since the Liberals have unveiled their new Red BooK and all the promises, Canadians should be warned what Liberal Leader Prime Minister Paul Martin, said about the first Red Book – but Liberals didn’t tell Canadians that it was a con job.
    Referring to the Liberal Red Book, Paul Martin said “Screw the Red Book… Don’t tell me what’s in the Red Book. I wrote the goddamned thing. And I know that it’s a lot of crap.” (Wilson-Smith, Greenspon, 1996)
    There is good reason why Canadians are convinced this one smells the same, because it is being peddled by snake oil salesman Count Iggy, with numbers that he doesn’t understand and that don’t add up.

  9. People are dragged out of Obama’s, so called Town hall meetings, all the time! Many times people are lead to believe that the person/people have fainted, when really they are protesters holding signs while the MSM keeps the cameras turned away. Every one loves BO you know.

    Gordon Ashworth was a key figure in the David Peterson Liberal government (1985-1990), as Peterson’s executive director. He was the yin to principal secretary Hershell Ezrin’s yang (or vice versa), and ran the political and administrative aspects of the Premier’s Office, including appointments.
    Ashworth became a household name thanks to the Patti Starr affair that contributed to the defeat of the Peterson government in 1990. In 1989 it emerged that Starr, while president of the National Council of Jewish Women of Canada and chair of Ontario Place (a provincial government appointment) had authorized over $80,000 in political donations from the NCJW to various Liberal and Conservative politicians at all three levels of government. Starr had become a family friend of the Ashworths.
    Ashworth resigned when it was revealed that he had accepted a free refrigerator and paint job from a company connected to Tridel, a developer that had built a housing project for the NCJW. In a statement, Ashworth said he had no idea that the items were given gratis, suggesting that it was all his wife’s fault: “These renovations were overseen by my wife Dianne who has always taken on the responsibility of the management of our household and related expenses” (from Not Without Cause, a book on the Peterson years by Georgette Gagnon and Dan Rath).
    And people say the Conservatives are the “Leave it to Beaver” party.
    A year later Starr was charged with 11 criminal offences, including fraud and uttering forged documents, and 34 violations of the Election Finances Act. Ashworth was never charged. To this day, many conservatives still have a “Patti Starr did not buy me this fridge” magnet on their Kenmore or Hotpoint.
    But it takes more than a resignation and a few bad press clippings to keep people who can get things done out of politics. Ashworth went back to federal politics, emerging in the early 90s as a federal organizer for Jean Chrétien. He vetted staff for the new government, and continued to be a key adviser and campaign organizer throughout the Chrétien era.
    In 2000, he collected $19,152 from the Yukon government to advise the new Liberal regime. The contract was for 12 days. He scored again in 2001 with a four-day contract garnering $7,800, the purpose of which was to tell the government how it was doing. (Now why would you hire the guy who set up your government to objectively assess how it’s doing?)
    More recently, Ashworth was in the news as one of the organizers of the tribute to Jean Chrétien at the Liberals’ 2003 leadership convention, and was ordered to reduce the projected $750,000 cost of the extravaganza (I guess it’s not cheap to get Paul Anka to re-write the words of “My Way” – again).
    He reportedly played a role in brokering the deal that saw Sheila Copps make a dignified exit (stop laughing) from the Liberal leadership race, and was Tony Ianno’s campaign manager in Trinity-Spadina in 2004. He worked on Barbara Hall’s 1997 and 2003 mayoral campaigns.
    The return of the Liberals to Queen’s Park also saw a return of Ashworth, in a way. He reportedly helped on the 2003 campaign. Then in 2004, Ashworth’s firm, Afrm2 (no, that’s not a typo), was given an untendered $31,000 contract to advise on communications around Windsor border security. This despite allegations from some of McGuinty’s people at the time of McGuinty’s review in 1999 that Ashworth was working behind the scenes against him. Time heals all wounds, I guess.

    BUT FRED – The new ‘economic stimulus’ is just hire all them debt laden students into government ‘green’ jobs. Just like B.H. Obummer.

    I just knew that some left wing wacko would put a spin on the ad the first time I saw it, because it is just to positive a message from the CPC and so this individual fits the bill. And this comes just after I found the paragraph on page 48 of the Liberal Red Book (Rag)
    A Liberal government will establish a cap-and-trade system – a mechanism that sets a ceiling on
    the total amount of permissible greenhouse gas emissions by large industrial facilities, and then
    auctions off emission permits to companies who can trade them amongst themselves to remain
    compliant under the law.
    That is what your friends are advocating! If you support that you are pond scum!

Any Twit-link I ever click on is complete nonsense loaded with links to more nonsense and # or @ symbols with no regard for logic. I’m sure it makes sense to those in the know, but if you are trying to communicate to the masses I would think it best to stick to what everyone understands.

  18. Twitter is of no consequence as a campaign message vehicle. Better for the rapid dissemination of information if you where to follow the chatter. You often learn more about what’s going on in the news by following media chatter beneath the surface than you do from the finished product.
    It’s surprising how obsessed they are by the meaningless minutia of the campaigns. Or maybe not.

    Of course this is how to distract the public that PMSH is well on his way to a majority and keep the public ‘off message’.
    The CBC/CTV cabal are basically in the tank for the Liberals.
    PMSH just sticks to his campaign message and keeps making campaign stops that more or less run smoothly.
    Today’s top story the Tories are ‘accused’ of horrors using a “TEA PARTY” style ad.
    Man if that is the best the LSM has got they really need to polish the Liberal apple for Professor Ignatieff.
    So far the Liberal play book is a rehashed 1993 Red Book stuffed with a Green Shaft. I don’t think that is going to go anywhere.
    SUN NEWS TV comes on in 2 weeks so I expect the LSM will get more ‘shriekish’ and hysterical to try and prevent the greatest evil to befall Liberaldom from allowing a PMSH majority.
    My guess, is epic fail on the part of the LSM in attempting to propagandize the vote.
    Policy, what policy? THERE IS FAUX SCANDAL AND MUCKRAKING to fill the public sphere. Great theatre, but it will fall flat and go nowhere because the Tories will play to strengths on the bread and butter economy issues.

  20. The message of media teets is inconsequential other than it is novel. BUT Twitter is used as a communication device. Especially by students. If they want to meet at Subway station 5 at 3:30, and move en masse to a political event, they tweet it to the entire university partisans. Click. Done. Guess what? You’ll have 500 show up for a press conference. It’s called organized.

  22. Twitter’s great for finding out what the press really think. I highly recommend following all CBC tour reporters because they are very open about their bias. Same deal with CTV really. There’s a few who pretend which is good to see I guess. There’s the odd gem out of stephen taylor and some CPC war room people too. But yeah that whole Guelph thing stinks like junior liberal party.
