Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Trump/Palin 2012!
I see so many donkeys, it reminds me of Shrek.
Something tells me that a lot of those members of the jackass unions would rather see their dues back in their pockets than playing politics.
Yup. I was going to say the word “union” appears only on lines that end in donkeys.
…or asses.
right and honorable terry tory i am sooooo with you on that.
I do worry about trump when it comes to forgien affairs it aint all china and opec ,there is a ton of other issues like mass immigration border security so on and so forth …but palin would make probly the best vp in american history i could not support her for president though it just does not fit i like her and everything about her and i mean everything but as a leader fo a country i can’t see it vp for sure she would kick some real a$$!!
Freddie Mac makes donations? It takes on crap mortgages from real financial institutions AND it makes donations? Is anyone in charge in Washington?
I’d love to see those numbers on the NDP in Nova Scotia.
Our campaign donation regulations are looking pretty good after browsing through that list…
Mark; are you speaking to Provincial political parties?
Certainly here in B.C., the Labour movement is a huge supporter of the NDP; but to be absolutely fair, the NDP has never claimed to be Labour-influence free. Personally, I don’t have a problem with that; it’s out in the open. What I DO have a problem with is the domination of the BCTF in (trying to) controlling the Party. IMHO Teachers need to be in the classroom doing what they are generously paid to do, not trying to run the Province, a task for which they are singularly unqualified for.
Speaking of Teachers, BCF has a post up…Canadian content.

A woman I know has taken to pestering me by emailing me articles about how awful the Tories are (I’m too polite to tell her knock it off, which is big of me, because she sent me Mallick – ugh).
Ayway I just got a thing from the Chronically Horrid about how eeevil lobbyists have given *gasp* donations to eeeevil Tories, whom they now control, eeevilly, I’m sure. Has anyone come across any place to get stats on donations to the Libs and the NDP? I’ve googled and such but I can’t find any neat comparisons.
Thanks for that, Daryl. Kind of flies in the face of my Democrat friends who are adamant that only the GOP are in the hands of the special interests. Ignorance truly can be bliss!
My outfit is definitely on the right side of this fence, literally.
“A woman I know has taken to pestering me by emailing me articles about how awful the Tories are (I’m too polite to tell her knock it off, which is big of me, because she sent me Mallick – ugh).”
I wish!!
A political discussion is like a unicorn in my little world. I’ve yet to have anyone come wishing to discuss politics. Nada. I’m thinking the Conservatives will do okay in these parts.
Why do you not engage her Mamba? Is she some type of troll? Surely some Sarah Palin links would brighten her day:)
Given that the largest donor to Republican causes was the Natioanl Auto Dealers Association it makes you wonder about the takeover of GM/Chrysler and the termination of dealership agreements with over 400 auto dealers.
Brian Mallard: Bingo!
Soetoro hit on those dealerships for partisan purposes…The poser President has never stopped campaigning. He is a sneaky coward man child.
I just suffered through an excrutiating 40 minutes of Obama giving a rare unannounced press briefing; I like to watch him live and without teleprompter to laugh back at those who voted for this douchebag and/or scream or shake my head in disbelief.
Anyway, it was about the budget impass and a possible Fed Gov shutdown by Friday…Again, I swear, this man is unreal…All platitudes and clear as mud…The MSM peanut gallery sitting there, just shaking their heads thinking “Oh my God, what have we done” *Grin*

Indy – nah, not a troll, she’s a family friend. Academic librarian, certainly smart, but very loud; the sort of person who never listens and is always sort of prodding at you (metaphorically) if you know what I mean. It doesn’t sound like it, but I do actually like her in small doses. If it weren’t politics it would be kitty-cat pictures. And she has no taste. She doesn’t bother to find interesting articles, so it’s like being on a left bargain-basement clearance flyer mailing list.
The Mallick thing annoyed me so much that I sent her some links pointing out that Heather is insane/revolting/a ridiculous liar etc. Really, how hard is it to demolish Mallick? No acknowledgment of that. What’s worse, some of the other people on her pester-list have started sending out group replies. Gail, for example, thinks Harper is just awful. In fact, she wants to pee on him, the naughty thing!
That being said, I would like to nail her on the donation business, because I’m willing to bet that the Libs and NDP are more corrupt than the Conservatives (they’re all corrupt. They are politicians).
It won’t change anything of course because as I and *ahem* Kathy Shaidle keep pointing out, with people like her politics is not about economic, sociological or moral ideas, they’re about class. Smart upper-class people are left wing.

Thanks daryl, so basically, the Dems pass legislation that benefits the Unions and the Unions in return donate to the Dems Campaign Coffers, and the Repubs pass legislation that benefits Big Business and in return Big Business donates to the Repubs Campaign Coffers.
You know, somedays I could just take a fresh cowpie and stick my face in it.
,
Bedbug, how do you tender a contract when there is only one company that is building what you want and you payed them to design it? Back in the old days there were many aircraft companies and they could design and build an aircraft and then hope to sell it to some government. It costs way more money and governments aren’t buying anywhere near as many aircraft as they used to. The business hasn’t worked that way in forty years.
‘with people like her politics is not about economic, sociological or moral ideas, they’re about class. Smart upper-class people are left wing.’
Black Mamba let me fix that conclusion for you: ‘with agenda driven people like her politics is not about economic (these people have HUGE gument pensions and are experts at ‘using the system; they don’t want to ‘share’ with producers), sociological (except by voting elitist Bolshevik to control people they deem ‘bible reading, gun toting, rednecks because Conservatives are too respectful to use childish insults to score points. Lenin’s ‘useful idiots’ but it sounds rude when you say it to someone you know and like, so we foolishly don’t)), or moral ideas (how old fashioned is something like questioning the morality of anything when your ideology condones killing little unborn people without a blink, never questions the ME stoning people, but squawk about the ‘human rights’ of the terrorist Kadar kid and the support the idea of pedophiles living in our neighbourhoods!), they are about (no) class. Stupid (silly) gument money grabbers are left wing.”
I think that you will like my ‘rewrite’, I know of what you speak as I have one of those above mentioned fools in my family. It is tough to be in the same room; never mind trying to be civil.
Jema 54, I don’t think in this particular woman’s case it’s necessarily as cynical as that. It’s just bourgeois. Nice people don’t hunt; nice people don’t like nasty guns; nice people hate war; nice people care about poor children and black people and are against bigotry and meanness and beating up gays and burning witches and the Elders from Footloose. And remember, from the Romans to Marie Antoinette to Karl Marx, commerce has always been so frightfully vulgar.
You might as well walk into a Jane Austen novel and try to sell everyone on Slut Walk as talk sense to these self-regarding people.
Hhhhmmmm, Goldman Sachs, over 60% for the Democrats. Such a surprise.
Facebook’s Zuckerberg is fully in the tank for Obama, setting up cyber Townhall meetings for him. Facebook is EVERYWHERE now. I find it offensive that voting on many polls and accessing information OFTEN depends on whether or not one has a Facebook account.
“Something tells me that a lot of those members of the jackass unions would rather see their dues back in their pockets than playing politics.

Yes, but the dues-paying rank and file have little say about the global socialist agenda of their leaders, who wine and dine board members and delegates to get them on side. Union members do not necessarily vote as dictated by the brass.
“It won’t change anything of course because as I and *ahem* Kathy Shaidle keep pointing out, with people like her politics is not about economic, sociological or moral ideas, they’re about class. Smart upper-class people are left wing.”
Aha! Black Mamba, your statement resonates with me, after a conversation in which a beloved relative of mine laid out her less than favourable views of Stephen Harper until my face became a scowl and she instinctively looked startled and quit. I didn’t have to say a word, but many lifelong Liberals simply accept the premise that well bred people vote Liberal; that may have held true when my Grandfather and father were involved in the party (they WERE smart, honourable businessmen who were proud Canadians)…Today’s Liberal party doesn’t seem to stand for anything worthwhile.

Teachers OK $60 fee to fight PCs’ Tim Hudak
An Ontario teachers union has approved charging its members an extra $3-million to fund a political action campaign aimed at keeping the Progressive Conservatives out of office in the fall provincial election.
