Obama’s Past: Not Prologue Enough!

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
Carol Platt Liebau, March 2009 – [W]hen he was at the HLR you did get a very distinct sense that he was the kind of guy who much more interested in being the president of the Review, than he was in doing anything as president of the Review.
Michael Walsh, March 2011 – President Obama would be much more comfortable as a monarch without too many demanding duties, thus leaving him plenty of time for golf, hoops, trips to the winter palace in Hawaii, and, of course, vacations and down time.
Similar observations here… “he’s not even pretending anymore to take part in the governing process.”

  1. Holy smokes.. does Obama ever *not* go on vacation? He’s almost as bad as a Liberal senate appointee or CBC employee.

  2. …and he was voted in with a majority, perhaps with the balanced tipped by Acorn. Absolutely amazing that this critter got there. He couldn’t even qualify for basic training in the FBI with his past record of deeds and associations.

  3. His first year of his Presidency he had a Supermajority and accomplished nothing. His second year he has accomplished nothing of note. Two years in and still no budget. Incredible.

  4. Obama at least has the balls to admit that Canada
Is a haven for Islamic terrorists.
We can’t keep them out of Canada anymore..
    So–Close the Land border.
Close the rivers and lakes also.
    Keep the USA safe.

  5. I bet he thinks he’s being Reaganesque by delegating everything. But Reagan was very much the boss as his diary that he kept without fail every day for eight years – except in the aftermath of his being shot – clearly demonstrates. Reagan knew what to delegate and when – with a couple of exceptions he was correct in doing so.
Obama’s whole adult life has been delegated to others who used his aura and tattoos – havahd, black, handsome, great oration skills etc. to get to the top. A political trojan horse.
One day his whole sordid story and the great tragedy his presidency will have inflicted on America and the world will be told. What a grim read it will be…

  6. And a cabinet like the cast of Thunderball….
It’s that Mussulini elevated chin thing that iritates me….
That picture of the white cop helping his buddy “chip” down the step while the boy-king strides away….chin up that defines the guy……

  7. I too am underwhelmed by Obama, but have to ask … if another Democrat — say Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, or John Kerry — were President, how different would things be? What serious policy differences would there be? My suspicion is that things would be very very similar indeed.

  8. CJ: Only Hillary had a chance of winning. Likely she would have been far more moderate and centrist than BO. She also strikes me as being tougher than BO.

  9. Without this total abortion of responsibilities and purposeful weakening of the country, we might not have witnessed the sort of conservative ascendancy we are experiencing that just might save Western Civilization. In a 1000 years from now, maybe this will be seen as the moment we stepped back from the edge….Or maybe our text books will be in Arabic and we’ll be a footnote in history, a far flung enclave of the New Ottoman Empire / Universal Caliphate, with Victory Mosques in all the right places.

  10. Perhaps he’s in some sort of labo(u)r dispute where he’s working to rule.

  11. And now, courtesy of Oprah, Jackson and not so Shapton, along with Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright we present to America, “The Potemkin President”. Good luck Americans, we had one of those, named Peeair, get ready to pay big time.

  12. Lets remember we have a Harvard professor waiting in the wings who wants to run Canada. His resume does not amount to much either.

  13. This all well and good, but it’s 2011 already and I don’t see a credible GOP challenger yet.
And I’m no fan of Obama. But let’s be realistic, no president is ever really on vacation. He’s aged a whole lot already, lots more grey. Sorry but as much as I dislike seeing a “progressive” in the white house, I’m not buying this slacker story. Ya sure he is gonna be a bit of a prima donna, few aren’t at that level. There are plenty of better things to attack with.

We are analyzing the wrong person, Valerie Jarrett is running the show at the White House ,she’s the mother he never had. The narcissist hasn’t a clue, he just loves the sound of his own voice, reflecting with his chin thrust to the heavens that the discordant jangle of his hollow words is a healing balm for the little people….. I only feel pity for the village he returns to.

  15. At the moment, his posturing is about to get thousands of people killed (on top of the hundreds already dead) in Libya and perhaps other countries, where people came out against their rulers in part riding a wave that Obama subtly encouraged. Then he found it was too much bother and might tarnish his peace-loving image, when it became clear that military force would be needed in Libya.
If there’s a slaughter in Benghazi, this will be Obama’s fault to some extent, and just like Bush got tagged with Katrina, Obama is sure to get tagged with the slaughter there. And in my opinion, more fairly than Bush who had to work through layers of incompetent city and state (democrat) officials in LA.
As to blaming Bush for 9-11, that’s easy to say now, but I don’t recall too many people talking about that possibility the day or month before the attack. But everyone in the world can see that Gadhafi means to kill thousands of people in his own country, and quite possibly when he gets done with that, he will send a calling card to the NATO allies just for messing with his mind.
I don’t feel that Obama is putting in a full effort either, he’s probably aging more because he’s worried about finding work in 2013 (or perhaps his freaky spouse has a role in this).

  16. As Japan sinks, as AlMoh moves, Here is O’narcissist*:
“I’ve got a confession to make,” Obama said. “This probably is right about the time I was at my worst. I was getting in trouble all the time. I was in the principal’s office all the time.”

Barack Obama rode a wave of voter passion in 2008 fed largely by intense dislike of President George W. Bush and the Iraq war, plus excitement among young and minority voters at the notion of electing the nation’s first black president.
Now, as Obama cranks up his re-election campaign, all those factors are absent.”

“The “small people”, the “rank and file”, the “loyal soldiers” of the narcissist – his flock, his nation, his employees – they pay the price. The disillusionment and disenchantment are agonizing. The process of reconstruction, of rising from the ashes, of overcoming the trauma of having been deceived, exploited and manipulated – is drawn-out. It is difficult to trust again, to have faith, to love, to be led, to collaborate. Feelings of shame and guilt engulf the erstwhile followers of the narcissist. 18. So nice that O and Michelle were not invited to the Royal wedding – we ALL know why.
It is hard to believe that Obama still has a 45% approval rating. He is the worst president in memory.

  19. And finally the Great Leader fell silent, and all we were left with, was the blessed sounds of the Crickets, cricket, cricket cricket……

  20. One thinks of the “boy kings”, blissfully ignorant of the significance of unfolding events, taking childish delight in the window-dressing of power: amusing dinners with sycophants, flattery and anxious deference everywhere,”I’m taking my friends to Spain, Honey, wanna come?” “No … no … Buttercup, I’ve got to see a couple of people I can’t avoid forever, like the head of Germany, or some place like that, and, besides, I really like taking out Air Force One, but I don’t think I’m allowed to use it for vacations, I’ll have to as David. What a cool airplane.”

  21. The silence and self censorship by all those aware of Obamugabe’s pre presidential years is most troubling. No one seems to have anything to
say about anything substantial that happens day to day in a normal student’s life. It’s as if he spent years being secretly coached like an aspiring actor.
When he was judged ready, he signed a major league contract with the American Reds political team, was given his law degree, and sent out for
a few years of seasoning in the minors while his backers worked their way into positions to enable them to seize the nomination.

  22. Every day more and more Americans are waking up to the fact that Chairman O is so completely out of his league.
They are experiencing the dreaded “Dan Quale” moment.

  23. for comparison, feel free to google or youtube or whatever the stunned vacant expression on dubya’s mug the very first moment he got word of 9/11 in that florida classroom or wherever it was.

  24. In 2008, here at SDA I wrote that Barrack Hussein Obama would be the guy who enjoys the perks but not so much the job…Unfortunately for us all, so far my character study of this mysterious man has averred to be right.
“Lets remember we have a Harvard professor waiting in the wings who wants to run Canada. His resume does not amount to much either.”
    Cascadian
IMO: The globalists ‘sent’ Ignatieff to take Canada where Obama has been ‘planted’ to veer the USA in that same direction.
The Globalists have the Republicans in their pocket…That’s why everything is stalling and seems like nobody’s in charge…Smoke and mirrors.(IMO)
A book to absolutely pick up: Jack Cashill’s “Deconstructing Obama”
Barry, who’s your daddy?: More and more serious investigative journalists, including Cashill are closing in on this and could very well explain why Obama works so hard to hide his own past.
    Google Frank Marshall Davis.

  25. Gee, a conservative commentator agreeing with the criticisms of President Obama made by two other conservative commentators on an explicitly conservative website, juxtaposed against a previous similar comment by yet another conservative commentator — well, I’m convinced.
    Actually, maybe not:
    – cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-4728085-503544.html — In which we learn that President G.W. Bush spent the equivalent of over 2.5 years out of his 8-yr presidency at Crawford or Camp David;
    – washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/blog/2008/03/04/BL2008030401392.html — In which we learn that the previous record-holder of longest time spent by a US president on vacation was none other than the late Ronald Reagan, who once joked while in office, “It’s true hard work never killed anybody, but I figure, why take the chance?”

  26. Pissypants Davenpoot: “But what about Bush?” “How come you don’t talk about Reagan?”
Maybe try stamping your feet too. It will compliment your thumb sucking.

  27. I see beagle and Davenport scratching hard for their lefty demigod…
Hey boys, let’s see if your man can win a second term. At least Reagan and Bush did. By winning I mean democratically and under the Constitution.
Using a post engineered revolution and an army to crush dissent uh, I mean keep the peace afterwards does not count…Your man does not want to play by the rules…That’s why the Dictator wannabe is so unpopular…Checkout the brand new poll on Drudge…
    AHAHAHAHAAH!

  28. My comment about Obama being King has been caught in the filter. It included an excerpt from Power Line: “. . . Plus, Michelle would be a queen and Malia and Sasha would be princesses. How cool would that be?. . .” I can’t imagine what caught my comment: maybe it’s the two links.
Or, could it be that the “Incivility Metre” was offended by the suggestion that “Joe Biden . . . would make a terrific viceroy, or possibly court jester”?
Who ever knows with the filter?

  29. Gord Tulk: with respect, what “great oration skills”? That’s one of those urban myths!
Zer0’s a lousy speaker: my husband and I hit the mute button the second his cobra like, swaying head shows up on the screen. The sight and sound of this traitorous impostor make my skin crawl—and always have.

  30. Posted by: jess at March 15, 2011 2:48 AM
Ha ha. Troll-boy is rawther ignorant of history in the 90s; apparently he’s too busy typing with only one hand to review the failed clinton (non)responses to the half-dozen or so terrorist attacks pre-911 that emboldened the islamists to go all-in under bush’s watch.
Do you, jess, like all the other obammy-soxers, still have starry eyes for your Hero? Or is that routine getting a bit stale, now that he’s proven to be the most worthless, if not dangerous, president in the last 100 years? Kind of makes you pine for carter, eh? At least carter’s excuse was simple ignorance; obama seems bent on the country’s self-destruction.
Ahh, well. “IT’S BUSH’S FAULT!!” still rings true, eh?

  31. From today’s poll:
“The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 20% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -22.”
“Seventy-seven percent (77%) of voters believe that the U.S. system of politics and government is morally superior to communism. Only 11% take the opposite view.”
“Overall, 43% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president’s performance. Fifty-seven percent (57%) disapprove.”
Remember, these numbers are from a citizenry that 70%+ sleeping in their shoes and with the country’s news media totally corrupt and propagandist.

  32. For Davenport and his ilk, who like to make comparisons. Yeah, I guess we should concede that Obama’s been really busy in one area—racking up debt: more in the short month of February, 2011 than Dubya’s debt for the WHOLE YEAR of 2007. How’s that for a comparison?

  33. Someone mentioned Carter:
I have got newfound admiration for the ex worst President(Barry since took his crown):
I found that out a couple of weeks ago because of the Madison unions debacle where Barry had stuck his nose in:
Jimmy Carter signed into law that Federal workers cannot form unions for bargaining.
I spit my coffee and fell out my chair!
Fed workers are non union because of JIMMY CARTER!
I think I heard this from Rush who could not believe it either.
Again, this is not something you would hear from the MSM…Jimmy Carter doing a Reagan…Before the Ronald himself! WOW!

  34. L, check out Ed’s post today at hotair wrt Barry’s polling numbers.
45% indeed, but amazingly enough, WaPo is still using completely bogus polling numbers. Today’s had a D +9 sample, when every polling number out there shows the D and R at a near dead heat.
Take that 45% number and subtract 5 D and add 4 R and I wonder where the actual number would sit?

  35. Obama is a happy man. He can gulf, shoot hoops, chat with celebrities and confab daily with the AFL-CIO knowing the US is in serious decline all the while comforted in the knowledge that during crises, institutionally anesthetized and fully dependent citizens turn to the state for solutions. This is the “fundamental change” that he promised. His election strategy for 2012 is cognitive innumeracy. He’s betting on the American public along with invaluable assistance from his loyal palace guard media to be cognitively oblivious to the fiscal hell ahead. He will do nothing but accelerate the decline and he knows he will face no criticism from the institutional left and media. He is actively destroying the health care system, the energy industry, and most despised of all, small business through a gift of a long legacy of (along with non-congressional executive direction for his agencies to accelerate) regulations that guarantee economic stasis. From this will emerge Obama’s green and socialist “paradise”, at least in his mind. The reality is that he is setting up pre-revolutionary conditions which could be very ugly.

  36. (I posted—or tried to post—this before 10:00 this morning. It still seems to be caught in the filter. So, I’ve removed the links. Just use Google. I’ll try again now.)
’Great post by John over at Power Line: “Let’s Make Obama King”, March 10/11
“. . .but [Col. Ralph] Peters is certainly right when it comes to foreign policy–it is a safe bet that Obama will do nothing, because doing something would require a decision.
“That got me thinking: Obama enjoys being president, and he especially treasures the symbolic significance of being the first African-American president. That’s how his supporters feel, too. I haven’t heard anyone defend his actual performance in a long time, but there is still widespread satisfaction with the symbolic value of his presidency. So why don’t we make him king? If being the first African-American president has symbolic value, just think what it would mean for the first King of the United States to be African-American! Plus, Michelle would be a queen and Malia and Sasha would be princesses. How cool would that be?. . .
“Then we could hold a special election and choose a real president. Probably, given the temper of the times, he or she would be a Republican. On no account would our new constitutional arrangement allow Joe Biden to succeed Obama. He would make a terrific viceroy, or possibly court jester.
“Sure, it seems like a radical solution. But consider the alternative. The more I think about it, the better I like it: Obama for King!”
A friend sent me a spoof movie trailer on “The King’s Speech”: I thought it would be about Zer0. It was actually a very funny send up of Dubya—gotta love the guy! Google: Kimmel’s “The King’s Speech” parody of George Bush with Mike Tyson.
For Davenport and his ilk, who like to make comparisons. Yeah, I guess we should concede that Obama’s been really busy in one area—racking up debt: more in the short month of February, 2011 than Dubya did in the WHOLE YEAR of 2007. How’s that for a comparison?

  37. “I mean, these reich-wing losers have made a cottage industry calling Obama a Muslim, a Kenyan, a Socialist (all code for the n-word), to such an extent that they’ve lost all credibility with mature-thinking people everywhere – they don’t even realize they’ve all become walking, breathing jokes.”
Self awareness not your strong suit, eh?
This ‘jess’ guy has to be a character invented as a goof on the left.

  38. Let’s see if I can channel a Leftie, I will call him “Jez”.
Kate! Have you accepted Al Gore as your savior? If you don’t, the planet will burn in hell. We will be cast from the garden in which we lived before the industrial revolution poisoned it. The garden that was ours before we ate from the apple of technology.
So, I will ask again. Have you accepted Al Gore as your savior?
    – Jez

  39. He has ‘Jess’ enough brain matter to type the typical lefty gruel…”Bush, Iraq, Environment, racist…” That he hears from his other flannel hood wearing university there-till-mom-runs-out-of-cash slacker buddies…A Huffington Post critter in other words.
“…a bunch of working people fighting for their rights that they don’t want to see crushed by the corporations and billionaires…”
Hey Jez, get off your Ipad for a minute and listen:
The unions are dealing with a taxpayer funded Government. Stop jumping directly to the corporations…If you want less big money buying Government; join the tea party or vote for the candidate that promises less government…That’s how you best tackle corruption and try to keep a democracy going.
I’m wasting my time because lefties think Government is untouchable and should be big and almighty. In other words communism is the end result for them, nothing else it seems.
I though kids would of gone for Libertarianism because of the freedom they seem to cherish. Alas, to be Libertarian, one must be willing to be responsible and independent too.
A good example would be to be free to do all the drugs one wants but have a social health care system to cover the costs of ones health…La-la-land, university style.
