way back,in the 70s,Suzuki was raving about the coming ice age and it’s impact on artic countries like Canada.One of the predictably looney ideas was to spread coal dust on the ice caps to speed warming.an idea that apparently might have worked.
Fast forward to today when trhe latest looney idea has given rise to a proposal to dump thousands of tons of iron ore into the ocean to counter-act oceanic acidification. my! how we have progressed!
In 1990 the “expert” were certain that by 2010 the temp increase would be at least 2 degrees, probably 4.
The only accurate measurements we have are from satellites and as of the end of Feb 2011 the global average temperature was 0.02 degrees cooler than it was in 1979.
Guess they should have polished their glass globe a little more so they could get a proper forecast.
Kyoto expires in 2012 . . . . and the schemer-dreamer-eco-grifters are certain it
will be renewed.
Time to polish that crystal ball again.
The sad part is Harper tried to reign in soot with his Clean Air Act of 2006. The opposition gutted and pilloried the bill so badly that it was withdrawn. Once again Canadian leadership was stifled for partisan gain.
So if the black layers are covered by white layers how does it’s heat absorbing work exactly? Is it now insulated from the top down? Do leaves and snow melt the leaves down or up?
How much soot was released by Britain alone in the Industrial Revolution? How much particulate exhaust?
So many questions to not ask these guys.
More proof we are winning: not one Hollywood idiot has blamed the earthquake or tsunami on global warming.

but it won’t make any difference to adherents of the cult of AGW. Their conclusions
(AGW is serious and must be stopped by swingeing new taxes on coal and hydrocarbons) is invariant under any change in data or argument. That is truly the mark of pseudo science.
Another characteristic is the examination of various pieces of information (certain tree rings etc.) looking for some evidence of GW. Now the way that real scientists carry out statistical searches is shown by a survey of quasars a few years ago. Halton Arp, a competent astronomer, did not agree that quasars are at cosmological distances, and even found a quasar which appeared to be part of a much nearer normal galaxy (distances determined by redsshift). A survey was then carried out to determine the likelihood that this might be random. In this survey the methodology was laid out FIRST, including the criteria to be used, and THEN data were collected.
The work of Michael Mann, CRU etc. isn’t even wrong.
John, the business of data first, methodology second has become standard procedure in epidemiology. It’s why for the last 40 years there has been one marginal study after another claiming we were all harmed by some trace substance or other. The problem is far deeper and more systemic than just global warming pseudo-science. An entire generation of scientists has been indoctrinated in post-modernism.
This matter will resolve in time but like the future of nuclear energy will not be decided by impartial experts but rather by Susan Saranden, Oprah, Michael Moore and the gals on “THE VIEW”.

This is good news. There are a lot of real dedicated scientists who have now come forward since the hysteria to bring us this information. If the Data dump had not happen, people who bring up facts like this would have been shouted down or more likely anyone denying Global warming would be taken to CHRC courts by the truck loads.
