Criminals don’t threaten violence to seize property – communities do.
Hydro One has been powerless to complete a $116-million transmission line upgrade for five years because Caledonia “warriors” won’t allow workers to wire the last towers.

Damn. Hydro one? I’m tempted to take the “warriors” side on this one. 😉
Is that the same Hydro One which obtains right of way to confiscate land from Ontario farmers? No sympathy to HO, although I feel bad for the threatened electricians.
Are there no real men left to govern our sorry ass country where they can just run roughshod over these god damned violent Indians. There is no doubt that they have benefited from us being here. They are not much different than the America Negroes whining continually, Sure the originals came as slaves, but they now run America and they are still whining and none of them are the slightest grateful that they don’t live in Africa.
This isn’t about fairness or multicrappolaism, it’s about genetic stupidity … white man’s genetic stupidity. The Indians and the Negroes are simply doing what comes naturally to their particular genetic stupidity, but the white man’s stupidity is far greater for obvious reasons. We accommodate these criminal losers and give them billions every year.
How about give them the land they want but nothing of modern civilization to use on it. Not electricity, no running water, no sewers, no roads … no nothing and oh ya … a big border they will need to cross to come over and by their pop and chips.
You see, the problem is that the new hydro line might interrupt business at some of the illegal smoke shacks on Argyle St., so sadly Hydro One will just have to go pound salt indefinitely.
Because nothing gets between Ontarians and cheap smokes. Got it?
Boy, things will be different when Timmy gets the reins, eh? Eh?
I personally am ashamed at our governments for creating this whole mess. The land grants should have been settled a 100 years ago. The Caledonians should have been hauled into a room along with the governments. No one should be let out until it was resolved. But to then allow blackmail, extortion, violence, and brutality go unchallenged shows the spinelessness of the government on the part of the Indians (PC be damned)
Harper be the first to grow a pair and step on some necks to settle these claims so Canadians can move on with developing a better country. Anyone who still has a beef after that can have an electric fence thrown up around their land and rip up their roads and block boat and plane access and they can live like its 1850 again. And the government can stop promising what they cannot deliver.
Had an issue in our R.M. where the band whose land a road improvement was to cross wished a new land deal. When informed the new road was to take a different route so as to not impinge on their right to the land, the tune changed quickly. If these natives don’t want a power line across their land, take out all the power lines on it. Well maybe just to the Band councils houses as the average person should still get power.
There has been many instances of discrimination against “First Nations; American Indians; African Americans:some in my lifetime and several more in the lifetimes of my parents.
However; if one reads historical documents on how the Irish; Italian; Ukranian and a myriad other Immigrant groups both many and few who through their sweat and tears truly built this country then the time for victimhood is well past.
Victim entitlement we all know is the surest method of building an underclass. The examples are evident in every language, colour and gender.
In Canada, a unilingual Quebecker of limited intelligence was given the Ministry of Pork and Resting place of the indolent and less politically astute, commonly called Indian Affairs. This took place in the early 1970’s and Jean Chretien asked his Uncle Bruno what he should do.
Uncle Bruno said; don’t give the Bureaucracy anything until they give you what you want.
The Minister concentrated on learning the other official language and would not sign any directives or legislation until an effective report on the future of the First Nations was developed.
The result was a legislation draft to assimmilate the First Nations into North American society. He ran this by the Minister’s other mentor Mitchell Sharp who accepted the premise as great step forward.
The PMPT administration ignored the draft legislation as he ignored any common sense recommendation. Mr. Chretien went on to another Ministry. His time at Indian Affairs a success as he was now almost fluent in the two national languages and he successfully learned the “little guy” political strategy which made him the second worst Prime Minister Canada has had to put up with.
Without the Department of Indian Affairs there would not be a place to hide the next generation of incompetent beauracracy. Anarchy is nothing when compared against finding employment for the next indolent level of underachievers. Cheers
Jamie MacMaster, yeah sure. Have you -been- to Caledonia in the last 5 years, troll boy? Any thoughts on organized crime in collusion with your police force? Or just more idiot trolling?
Try to lash that last brain cell into firing, MacMaster. I’ve got faith in you. You can do it!
There are ways to deal with warriors, but they won’t let me print my plan. Just a minute here! Is this SDA or CBC.Ca!
Abe Froman >
“….sorry ass country where they can just run roughshod over these god damned violent Indians”.
Not to worry Abe in decades to come the god damned violent Islamists will not be as courteous towards them. Nor will the west coast Chinese for that matter.
Oh the irony of Dulton and his Eco-Greenie Crusaders stopped dead in their tracks by the same miscreants that he and his Ontario Provincial Police protected from justice for so long.
Oh Sweet God Of Irony & Revenge . . . Dulton will never get into Gaia Heaven with these results.
Jamie:
I second Phantoms take on your post.
The situation in Caledonia is an absolute travesty of justice. It’s obvious you have never witnessed the goings on there.
There are two salient points missing here. 1) Ont. hydro began almost a decade ago the “big tunnel” at niagara falls, now late, vastly over budget by $billions, but destined to use this transmission line to supply badly needed 800+ megs. (windmills and solar panals) don’t cut it.
2) The line in fact is to pass outside the “so-called warrior” land. Extortion is such an ugly word!
Well,at the risk of being excoriated by the regular bunch, just what politician does anyone here think will do something about Caledonia?
Maybe they should make Julian Fantino Minister of Indian Affairs,he was so effective as top cop.
What a farcical group are the Leaders of the Country we live in,the death of ONE “protester” fifteen years ago has paralyzed the legal structure of the entire Nation!
The Mohawk Warriors should have been arrested on Day one of their activism, now they’d have the self righteous UN down our backs if we even look nasty at them.
Maybe the Ontario government can replace the power transmission lines with individual backyard windmills, one per household, and thwart the goals of the Warriors.
It’s simple: cut the chiefs off. All of them. They don’t care about children or the elderly. See if they care about their already fat wallets.
THEN watch something get done.
“The land grants should have been settled a 100 years ago.” Sounds ideal Robert except that the government bought those lands from the six nations almost a couple of hundred years ago. A legal and binding transaction of the time. The fact that now, or at least 5 years ago, the natives figured out their forefathers could have done better in the deal is a moot point. The natives have perfected the “victimized by whitey” to an art form.
A few centuries back a bunch camped out for a while at the corner of River & Lake or River & Creek so that obviously means that anyone that comes along after will have to pay the camper’s descendants forever.
Well this is tough one. Hydro companies are in general bastards. Out here in BC they do whatever the hell they please, raise rates whenever they want, and stick hideously ugly poles everywhere without a single shred of concern for how they are wrecking the landscape.
That was a lake view you had? Well sorry pal, screw you, we’re going to put our ugly pole right in front of it. Words cannot even begin to describe how they are wrecking the landscape in places such as Kelowna, BC.
They are also heavily union shops, which is one of the reasons why the cost of new substations has ballooned through the roof. That cost is passed on directly to the customer.
So I’m not the side of the Caledonia “warriors” or Hydro One. They are both creeps in their own way.
I hope the “warriors” have self sustaining power generating capability.
dmorris, exactly
The land claims for this parcel at the DCE were all settled ages ago. Until somebody in the smokes biz decided it would be good to have a casino. Then there were many lawsuits, all of which Smoke Boy -lost-.
When they lost the last one, they started this freak show. The really really aren’t going to stop until they can build a casino in #6 highway.
Nothing to do with 6 Nations, all about organized crime, smuggling and the dirty smokes biz.
The upgrade is to provide another power feed to the refineries in Sarnia. Maybe we should build a coal fired generating station on the west side of Six Nations (upwind most of the time), and forget about routing Nanticoke power to Sarnia. A low stack on that plant would be a bonus.
dmorris I’d appreciate you not giving McGuinty any ideas 😉
Someone sometime will have to send in the Army. PC be damned.
This is my take:
The Original Land Grants setup the Mohawks in Canada with perpetual Ownership.. An English System still in place in England. That means that they only sold the lands for a fixed term and that at the end of the term the title reverted back to the Indians…They were deemed landowners that only leased ownership for a fixed term
The Ontario Gov’t Land Titles screwed the Indians by issuing titles to the White Folk (happened when the Indians granted a Right away for a Road)…Was it a mistake or Corruption…
The Indians have a Right.. Government needs to address the Screw up..
didnt realize till now that the line of KFCs and starbucks they call Kelowna could be made uglier.
Abe… They are OUR Palestinians.
“So I’m not the side of the Caledonia “warriors” or Hydro One. They are both creeps in their own way.”
Remember this one, TJ, the next time you get blacked out because of a lack of reserve capacity in the system. It’s because of your kind of thinking that BC long ago became a net importer of coal-fired thermal power when Site C has been waiting development for the past 30 years. You are also conveniently neglecting Marc Eliesen. After he started ruining Ontario Hydro in the early 1990s, he took over BC Hydro and ruined it as well. Just another seer-sucker socialist troughing away and leaving only wreckage behind.
Slap Shot at March 1, 2011 7:34 PM, your take is wrong.
All of the Treaties with the Indians state unequivocally that the Indians right to the land itself is extinguished.
That’s the term each Treaty has.
EXTINGUISHED.
I have copies of these Treaties.
Hey Shaken. Sarnia doesn’t need no stinkin’ electricity from Niagara or Nanticoke. It’s got it’s own excellent coal-fired generating plant nearby. Only trouble is, Dulton shut ‘er down, putting a load of people out of work. “If it saves the life of just one child “etc.etc.
Didn’t do a damn thing to ease pollution. See, most of the pollution comes from a coal fired station across the river in Michigan.
McGuinty is insane.
atric, Lambton is still operating. Only the Lakeview station in Mississauga has been shut down. The disaster here is that Ontario Power Generation had planned to retrofit complete flue scrubbing for all the units at Lambton as well as Nanticoke. This would have removed virtually all of the sulfur dioxide from the flue gas.
The plan was canceled when the McGuinty government announced the first closure date. This closure was subsequently postponed twice to the current date of 2014, as Ontario needed its electricity production. OPG couldn’t justify installing the retrofit, as the station wouldn’t be operating long enough to recover the capital cost.
The same thing happened to OPG’s retrofit plan for Nanticoke as well. Because the closure has been postponed so many times, neither plant has had the maintenance that would normally have been done. So when the closure for 2014 is postponed again (as it will be), the necessary repairs for the plants will be much more expensive than would otherwise have been the case.
Alas, another example of what happens when treaties follow incompleted goals, misplaced mercy and conditional surrender. No good deed goes unpunished.
And you can add a list of similar “hold ups” throughout Canada.
In Saskatchewan the water level in the fishing lakes has been allowed to return to natural levels (much lower and variable by year) because the first nations on whose reserves the water managment apparatus has been located for decades, have now decided that they should claim some compensation. The land they want to be compensated for is sometimes under water naturally and sometimes exposed naturally. Water managment keeps it under water all the time and allows the cottage owners on the lakes to know where the range for where the water level will be.
Sure this is a problem that affects a few cottagers and campers, but it seems like another “hold up” to me.

Boy, talk about foaming off at the mouth over nothing. Take a valium you two, and then go and change your panties.
My post had nothing to do with whether Caledonia is an absolute travesty or not…it most certainly is.
But nothing is likely to change under Hudak.
cgh
You are a little off. Indeed there’s one still operating. The rest are shut down ( or so I’m told)
There’s talk about converting to NG, but…….
atric, they are all still in service. You are quite right though that several have been idled because of current low demand. But none have been decommissioned.
Just wait for air conditioning season.
Conversion to nat gas would make no sense. Lambton is a thermal steam system. That means you burn the fuel to make steam. The system loses a high proportion of its energy as heat losses in steam condensation. With a CTU, the efficiency is much higher. Just about every analysis I’ve seen shows that rather than keep Lambton going, it’s much cheaper to just build enough CTU generating capacity.
Of course there’s a small problem here. Every community is as busy rejecting hosting a CTU as they are any other kind of generating facility.
Jaimie MacMaster said: “But nothing is likely to change under Hudak.”
Well Jaimie, given that the present situation is due to orders given from the “very top levels of provincial government” (to quote one particular lawsuit which the province quickly settled), your statement is very interesting. For it to be true, the complete leadership of not just one, but two (2) provincial parties would have to be utterly corrupt and in the pocket of organized crime.
This OPP created and maintained farce has survived three different OPP commissioners. It started under Gwen Boniface, continued for the entire tenure of Julian Fantino, and now is still up and running under the FNG, Chris Lewis. Three commissioners, OPP behavior remains exactly the same
For this to continue under Hudak, his government would have to issue the same -illegal- orders that have been issued and in force for five (5) years under the McGuinty government. Even assuming equivalent low moral character, the Conservative party does not have the same special interest groups to keep happy. In fact, Conservatives supporters (me for example) will jump and cheer at the discomfiture of Liberal interest groups.
For what you say to be true, not only would the Mohawk Smuggling Society have to 100% -buy- the whole leadership of the Ontario PCs, not only would they have to pay enough to get the PCs to act against their own political self interest, they’d have to have done it already. Hudak would have to be bought now, today.
Personally I can’t see a casino being worth that much.
So, you have some special knowledge you’d like to share, or is it just knee jerk partisanship and with you?
Phantom at March 2, 2011 7:32 PM
Political obsequity in the OPP goes back to at least the days of “Tilting Tom” O’Grady…Boniface et al just continued what was already started.
When Caledonia was in the spotlight I don’t recall any of the Conservatives then (or now, for that matter) calling for a much-needed public enquiry into the whole fiasco. And I don’t recall Hudak pounding his desk demanding that the rule of law be enforced.
McGuinty and his entourage are ceratinly craven cowards of the worse kind, but an ineffective opposition that fails to demand accountability contributes as much to bad government as the worms in control.
Partisanship? When “Conservatives” start acting like conservatives, then you’ll see my partisanship.
