A CBC Poll Goes Horribly Wrong

In Question Period on Thursday, Minister of Human Resources & Social Development Diane Finley said, “It’s the Liberals who wanted to ensure that parents are forced to have other people raise their children. We do not believe in that.”
So we’d like to ask you,
– Yes
– No
– Unsure

Maybe if just a few more people voted “No”, two CBC polls in a row would mysteriously disappear!

  1. We are getting our butt’s kicked right now !! especially in the comment’s area.
Make this poll go HORRIBLY wrong!!

  2. I voted no i don’t think iti s an insult to parent’s who send therek ids to daycare it tells me that the lefty trash talk has completley transformed our women ,and yes there are a ton of men out there who force there wives to work so they can have all the selfish material thing’s they could ever want…yes yes i know but in this day and age a woman is absolute garbage unless she is a high powered attorney or a doctor or lawyer who has her overies ripped out so that she doesn’t have to worry about spreading evil wicked man’s seed that’ll show em.
i think being a stay at home mom is one of the hardest job’s out there next of course to being a working full time and overtime father and husband who is out there fending for his family everyday.
providing for them so on and so forth.
personally i think if a woman want’s kids she should be willing to make the sacrifises necessary to have them(stay at home ) just like a man (go out and work and be away from your family all day long)
but i know i know i am sexist shouvanistic scumbag who think’s woman are doormat’s ….what ever i have more respect for a mother of three or more children than i do of a female doctor or someo there uber educated female job!!

  3. everyone PLEASE go vote quick, in 25 mins the show ends and they report the totals on air, we were at 15% but now we’re at 30%, PLEASE go vote!!
The government should NOT be responsible for raising people’s kids!!!!!!!!!

  4. The only thing wrong with a CBC poll is that it’s a CBC poll. If you read any of the comment pages after other question they pose it’s always the same liberal, don’t think for themselves and don’t have any idea how the real works bunch who respond.

  5. Leave it to CBC to spin that as an insult to parent’s. It was a direct slap at Libs.
Libs and Hedy Fry insulted me as a SAHM in the 80’s. The Reform Party suggested tax breaks for family’s , but she dissed me for being barefoot, pregnant, and oppressed in the kitchen.
It was my CHOICE, the buzz word of the day, but that wasn’t what Libs wanted to hear.
    Stick it to them Diane!!

  6. Well, guess what? Diane Finley’s right.
The Librano$ had a systematic policy to force Canadian women into the workplace, to make more money for big business and the government — and so that the state could control what Canadian kids learned from a very early age.
When I stayed home with my kids in the ’80s, the Liberal government — the Mulroney Red Tories were no better — punished, via the tax system, one-income families with a parent at home to care for the kids. One-income families, with a parent home to care for the kid/s, was, next to a 20-something, single male, the highest taxed unit in Canada. There was absolutely no recognition of the contributions that stay-at-home parents make to stable homes and community volunteerism.
Two-income families with children cared for by substitute care were able to write off daycare costs, with no commensurate write-offs for stay-at-home parents, many of whom, like us, were living on very frugal incomes and doing most of the volunteer work in our churches, schools, and communities.
The Liberal$ were four-square behind the Feminist Agenda, founding and funding the NAC/SOW, the (often lesbian, man-hating, no-kids, stay-at-home-mom-hating) feminist, we-support-women-as-victims, tax-funded groups, while purposely ignoring and not supporting women’s groups, like REAL Women, who had a much broader agenda which would naturally appeal to a broader spectrum of Canadian women. Because the feminist-friendly media hated/hate REAL Women, it’s always got bad press and a raw deal in the public square.
Good for Diane Finley. She’s telling it like it is.

  7. The desire for social engineering in people in this country is stunning.
As well, what ever happened to being responsible for the choices you make?
Every day I come across people and people’s opinions which make me very, very scared for the future.
    I am human – I am entitled!

  8. SDA GETS RESULTS!
Nice work everybody, it started off 85-15%, ended with an announcement on-air of 57-42% or, as Evan Solomon put it, “pretty much split down the middle”. Mission accomplished!
The poll is still up, so no point in stopping now – we are at about 50/50 🙂

  9. 639 to 644 for NO!!! right now. Rabble vs. the dead gopher, no doubt.
Diane Finley’s my MP incidentally. Wouldn’t hurt anybody to call her office and say ‘Atta Girl!

  10. Basically, 50/50 at 7:50 but with the good guys in slight lead on the first poll but we’re losing badly on the second one.

  11. Dr. Whatser-name from Trawnna (help me here folks) is on the CBC comment page:
    “troubleshooter wrote:

at 7:17 PM ETPeople will have to pay more later in prisons and policing, because people couldn’t access quality childcare, jobs and education….”

  12. I noticed one option that was missing from that second poll:
“Stop finding ways to squander our tax dollars.”

  13. “troubleshooter wrote:

    Oh Right.
Obviously that’s why all past generations of Canadians were convicts.

  14. My gosh, is the CBC is biased! Can’t they come up with a better leading question intending to demonize conservatives? Time to sell the wasteful beast. Show your support with a bumper sticker:

  15. Yep…the poll has gone horribly wrong! SDA gets results!
    43% yes
    55% no
    1500 votes
BTW…wrt polls: the twist-bulb poll from this morning is back up….just sayin’

  16. Just voted on both polls and noticed that the Nos are winning in the first poll but the leftists are ahead in the second poll. In the second poll I voted for being opposed to both options, but there was no option for my preference. My preference would be to see the tax system changed from penalising families with stay-at-home mothers (or fathers if you like) to giving them at least the same tax break as that which is given to two working parents farming out their children to daycare. You don’t need to pay them more, just stop taxing them to death.

  17. batb and alain: Yes, we need a family friendly tax system. Right now single earner families are being taxed to provide day care benefits to two earner families – at least in some provinces – and this is how the libs want to fund their beloved national day care program.
Not to forget that the national day care program gives the social engineers a head start on programming your kids, so by the time they get to Ryerson, they are helping the moonbat professors to orient the culture resisters in the class.
Time for a family friendly tax regime. Tell Mr. Harper and your MP.

  18. What an unbelievable waste of my money. One mom commenting (whining) on the poll comments, complains that she doesn’t get as many vacations with her five kids as other people do. Apparently the pathetic amount she receives for child care she puts into RSP’s for the kids.
Bloody hell, give me my money back.

  19. Felis corpulentis, how well I know! My wife and I were a single income family who raised four children, now successful adults. This was our choice, and I have no regrets. I did however resent the fact that married colleagues with a working spouse were much better treated by the tax system. In fact I even had colleagues who bragged about how they benefited more by claiming they were unwed mothers, since officially they were no longer married to the father of their children. Go figure.

  20. It is tremendously frustrating to see people support the government stepping into child care at an ever earlier stage. I am reminded of that recent article about the child who was chastised in school for bringing his lunch in a plastic bag. I am reminded of the BC government policies that encourage students to learn how they can make a difference in the world and encourage altruism.
Do you know why I despise altruism in its current form? Because altruism in its current form forces me to give to pathetic, disgusting little people who don’t want to work yet want to control those who do work. I do not despise voluntary altruism. I do not despise charity. I am proud to give money to charity, especially the charities I support (education for Primary Reserve soldiers returning from Afghanistan).
But this forced altruism makes me retch. The government puts a gun to my head every year and forces me to pay through the nose for the employment of some sniveling left-wing fools to raise the children of those around me with values that I despise without letting people have the option to opt-out and take their dollars elsewhere.
It makes me so angry I can barely even write.

  21. Alain…our stories are very similar. I was content to pinch pennies just to have the choice to be at home. However, my blood boiled when we became very aware of the unfair ‘tax/benefit’ system.

  22. Listen to the bloody Lib’s whine that someone else won’t pay to raise their Kids!
We raised our children without ever considering daycares or other handouts. Mother stayed home, and I worked either two jobs or allot of double shifts in the early days to make extra for the extras.
We now have fine well developed, independent and responsible adult children. Never any drug use, no trouble ever with the law and a wholesome mature view of life.
Now the libtards want to take the empty-nester rewards of our sacrifices and give it to irresponsible “non-parents” who feel entitled to the proceeds of someone else’s years of hands-on child rearing.
A disgusting show of what a spineless and pathetic society we’ve become.

  23. For what it is worth and someone can correct me if they know better. Apparently when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1990 one of the first policies axed shortly after was the government day care program.

  24. One mom commenting (whining) on the poll comments, complains that she doesn’t get as many vacations with her five kids as other people do.
    Too bad for her.
I literally cannot remember the last time I had a vacation, really.
I’d ask my wife when our last vacation was, but she is sleeping.
She remembers things like vacations better than I do.
At least we still have celebrations at home when the occasion arises.
The last time I left the Calgary area was to make a run to Trail B.C. because my father-in-law was dying there and we needed to see him to get closure.
    A vacation it was not.
When I read of people like this woman complaining about missing vacations with her five kiddies I feel nothing for her or her spawn.
    That isn’t right.
Who is with me to take up a vacation collection for this lady?
We could send her to sunny Haiti and it would be something worth investing in as the time of her life and a contribution to Haiti too.
Come on folks, it would be a two’fer.
    Good times, good times.

  25. The school system has done it’s job!
It seems there is a significant portion of Canadians who cannot think for themselves, cannot think with any portion of logic, regurgitate answers fed to them, problem solving is non-existent, and continue to wallow in peer pressure instead of actually moving into adulthood.
The sheer idiocy…..”Quebec does daycare for $7 per day, Scandinavian countries provide, just get ahead, children are precious, can’t afford to pay for children, this economy, we have no money left after paying our bills. Then there’s the ever popular rightwing, Harper, Con bashing which really lends itself to talking about the issue.
    Can’t take it anymore. Idiocy.

  26. Nobody mentioned that these socialist loons are daggers about PRIVATE small daycares.
The emphasis is to provide government employment for these otherwise unemployable “studies” style degrees.
A crude attempt to creat more de facto snivel servants…..a constituency.

  27. My last “Vacation” was 9 years ago. To people like her, you just exist to supply her whinny needs. Right quick now fork over the cash for this Resort deprived Queen.
    JMO

  28. Vacation???
Then again I have had resort to resources others don’t.
If I have time and the inclination and decide to drive to BC for example or Florida….I find a truck heading that way that needs a butt behind the wheel.
Although it is not my first choice….owner operators readily employ somebody with a clean abstract to share the driving….Many affluent snow-birds pay to have some-one trustworthy to drive their car to say Florida or Arizona…a fly you back.
I did this for a retired doctor and his wife, and then on my suggestion they flew me down to drive them home. Frequent stops and a knowledge of points of interest, along the way, made it more pleasing than the hassle of airports. I didn’t mind sleeping in Holiday Inns.
This pattern went on for several years. It included my appearance, a day in advance to check over and get service done on the car..on his plastic.
Driving a freshly aligned car, with good balanced tires and drag through the garden servicing made for trouble-free driving. He had a bad habit of hitting curbs….
The last tour, he was feeling poorly in Georgia…and said put us into Toronto….YOUR RULES….
    18 hours….

This has been one of the core policies of REAL Women—“Women’s rights but not at the expense of human rights”—for nearly 30 years. Their opponents—and the opponents of what parents actually want—radical, pro-abortion, anti-men, feminist harpies, have received, in those decades, tens of millions of taxpayer dollars to promote, among other things in their dystopian agenda, a national “daycare” plan (which we can’t pay for anyway). And, while no government has implemented a national daycare program, who has been derided and generally ignored by our governments?
Of course, the answer is: the reasonable—and RIGHT, as in CORRECT—REAL Women! I like to think that their virulent opposition to a national “daycare” program, articulately and repeatedly communicated to Canada’s MPs, has had some effect.
    ’Good one, Alain!
