Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Hey Abbott!!!
Big Brother Progressives such as Abbot could honestly change the slogan to: “the people are succumbing to the numbing”.
Might not be so crazy. Sooner or later this little fact is going to get some private sector attention:
“The Cato Institute analyzed data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and concluded that “in 2009, the average wage for 1.95 million federal civilian workers was $81,258, which compared to an average $50,462 for the nation’s 101 million private sector workers (measured in full-time equivalents).” The disparity is even greater when benefits are considered. According to Cato, “federal worker compensation averaged a whopping $123,049, which was more than double the private sector average of $61,051″ in 2009.”
“The People Are Coming”
Strange. Kind of like he’s flirting with the idea of a “people’s revolution” but doesn’t want it to really happen because it may be too radical. The people’s “coitus interruptus”?
Here’s a few slogans that are equally politically inspiring:
“The Book Is On The Table!”
“Johnny Is Walking The Dog!”
“There’s A Picture Hanging On The Wall!”
If you had ever met Abbott you would quickly discover that his vacuous slogan is much more dynamic and exciting than he is. Just another leviathan caretaker!
I think Occam is right. Abbot is just another Big Brother Progressive and if he is elected nothing will change in BC.
ricardo, lol, pretty much covers it.
A rub-and-tug down the street from my office uses the same slogan.
This is an attempt by one of the BClib leadership hopefulls to open up the political process.
It proposes new use of internet media which is a good thing. The people ARE comming, and they are sick of sound bite thinking by all parties.
The headless dippers on the otherhand continue to argue if the collective’s toilet seat is up or down.

They need to add pitchforks to that logo…then it would be appropriate.
Can’t help but wonder what the IOC will say when they see this.
If the people are coming it isn’t to improve government. It is to have a lot less of it.
I’m seeing a lot of things in BC. that remind me of the US midterms. They learned to say what people want to hear but do they GET it?
Lick muffin,
That’s a classic!
Many of you commenting here should go and read the series of memos leaked to Alex Tsksummis (linked at bourque on kate’s home page) about what was really shaking on the BCRail deal, which induced Abbot to throw his hat in the ring.
It makes adscam look penny ante and includes many of the same players. The only thing I can say about the crooks who run BC is that at least they aren’t the other option. BTW, according to the posts, Christie Clark’s campaign chief and go to guy (Kinsella) worked for both the BC libs and CN while “arranging” the billion dollar deal. What could go wrong?
Exactly whay I thought eeyore!
When I saw the logo and slogan I instantly though “The people are coming with torches and pitchforks”
Methinks that is not a media campaign a political party should embrace.
What, no “Lock the gate Igor. The villagers are coming. Yes, Professor Frankenstein.”
Was there ever an Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein movie? I saw the torch, read the slogan and immediately images of Transylvania popped up.
Speedy: “They learned to say what people want to hear but do they GET it?”
Well, this whole thing was allegedly started with the introduction of the HST. I believe it started with the carbon tax – Gordo’s religion. It appears that Abbott’s campaign is getting this same message … he is saying that he will put the question on the same referendum as the HST.
The rest? – they are still running around with their fingers in their ears.
I am glad the readers here find this so entertaining. Seems to me that despite all the complaints to the contrary, nobody is actually above the MSM’s vacuous and generally useless covering of politics.
As a resident of BC, I don’t give a sh*t who leads either party because I have no delusions that ANY leader of ANY party has the ability to put his province/country ahead of his party.
In case no one has noticed, the party system itself is killing western democracies.
Cheering for a particular party like it’s your favorite friggin’ sports team may be fun, but ultimately it’s just as destructive as the MSM’s
game playing with our futures.
The term “enabling” comes to mind…
So there! Put more more tabasco in your caesar and you can drink it too! (Canadian Observer).
more proof politishuns REFUSE to play devil’s advocate with ANY of their ideas.
I have 3 siblings in B.C. wonder what they think of this…..
So far Abbott is the most conservative of the bunch. I love the slogan as it creates the imagery of peasants with pitchforks. Christy Clark is a Federal Liberal. She is an empty shell and is being portrayed as populist by the media and the elites, who love her as a lefty liberal.
If Clark becomes leader, I predict a the growth of a new BC “conservative” party which will split the vote leading to NDP government. Ack!
Well isn’t this just the great Progressive/socialist myth in bold letters; the myth that THEY are the voice of the people, not the oppressors.
Further to what Rick was saying, here’s an interesting development on Christy Clark’s campaign. Former CTV / BCTV anchor, Pamela Martin, is getting involved with Clark’s campaign. Talk with anyone who has met Pamela Martin personally and I’m pretty sure you’ll get the same comment: Phony as a $3 Bill and Elitist beyond belief.
Some once said that the NDP are Liberals in a hurry. That about says it all for politics in BC.
The consertive guy was all for the Horse S”!t Tax during the last election now he’s pushing recall. How convienent.
After 2 terms of the NDP a monkey could have done better than Campbell and the Libs.
The reason Campbell is gone is the HST. Not one Lib had the conscience to represent his constituates and now these wanna-be leaders are telling us how they want to hear from the voters.
Canadian Observer @ 1.53PM hit the nail squarly on the head.
I like Christy, dont like her politics.. Whoever gets in, Axe the R.C.M.P., Axe the carbon tax.. That only went in because Gordo got a “Man Crush” on Auhnold..The ex righty-lefty Gov of Cali..
Was it as good for you as it was for Abbott?
Not even breathing hard.
