Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

And thank god food prices and energy prices don’t affect the inflation rate!![/facepalm]
That is not good for the Chinese.
As for us, food price inflation is running about 9%.
Which will wipe out people’s savings, pensions etc.
We’re beginning to see fresh produce from China in the grocery stores. Garlic cloves and snap peas. I don’t buy it and I urge you not to. Besides the likelihood it is grown on an old nuclear dump, our producers could use the cash.
I never buy food grown or processed in China but I’ll eat in a Chinese restaurant or take out once in a while…Which is worst? :-/
As if it couldn’t get any worse for China’s population of stray cats and dogs….
Inflation rates be damned, full steam ahead.
Asia stocks rise on strong China growth
When I read your introductory query, my first thought was Mexico, thanks to the insane corn/ethanol production in the U.S.A.
I too never buy food grown in China – not even Mandarin oranges. With the horrendous industrial pollution of water, God knows what you’re eating in that produce. Of course, I’m a hypocrite because I do eat in Chinese restaurants knowing full well that their garlic, baby corn, soy sauce and ? are all imported from the motherland.
Kind of off subject but just wanted to say Happy Birthday Kate on one of your entries so your posters could know its your birthday
Ahh, Infration!
Must be frustrating to pay that much more and still be hungry an hour or so after every meal. lol
“Ahh, Infration! – Phantom
Wait till maz2 gets ahold of this!
rockyt, Mo Stlong say “Infration good… for Mo Stlong!”
Happy birthday Kate and just to stay on topic I hope someone takes you out for dinner before inflation takes the prices too high.
lol–thanks Phantom
Kate’s birthday??? Who knew. Ask your boss (grin) for the rest of the day off and enjoy it girl.
Back on topic, Glen Beck has been advising everyone to stock the larder for a long time. He hasn’t mentioned ammo yet, but…
Perhaps they should start shipping those stray dogs from Taiwan to the Chinese mainland instead of Vancouver. They will find homes there very quickly I would guess.
good idea abe, send the dogs to China and lower the demand for meat, i agree
they can nip this infration thing in the butt.
They need Harper!
We could always ship him over there for a week and they will copy him for a healthy fee.
Within months there will be a small Harper army like Chinese Elvis impersonators fix’n the economy, and giving Iggy the bird.
Speaking of Chinese people and food.
I remember the ‘great rice shortage’ a few years back, and my personal observation (an my wife’s) that many Asian customers at Superstore were purchasing rice by the cart load. I remember chuckling with my wife about the 2KG bag we purchased that was going to last our family for 6 months while watching a train of Asians pushing carts with no less than 20KG in each cart.
I refuse to buy anything made or grown in China, or Quebec because one seems connected to the other. Remember they only have to produce 30 percent of the product, a box or label, in Canada and then they can lable it made in Canada. Almost all garlic cloves are grown in China, grow your own during the summer months.
I read a very interesting FP article about the how world’s central banks are all playing chicken with each other. Great article, but one important takeaway is that China’s economy is horrific. Biggest. Bubble. Ever.

we will get food inflation here by Feb, 3 to 7%.
Methinks rioting will break out of a size and scope difficult to cover up. Too frackin’ bad.
