Let’s get slapping – it’s time for a bit of traditional dance, Bavarian style:

The Schuhplattler mimics not machinery but wildlife–the “aurhan,” the famous ring-tailed wood grouse. As large as a small turkey, the aurhan cock preens and struts in front of the hen on a fallen log, beating his wings to create a rhythm to impress the object of his lust. It works when the hen responds by turning in circles before him. The Schuhplattler does the same thing.

The men’s dance consists of a syncopated series of very loud slaps on lederhosen-clad thighs and the soles of the shoes (thus “schuhplattler” or “hitting the shoe”). Every district has its own unique plattle (slapping rhythm), many of them very complex, all requiring strength, flexibility, and stamina.

Here’s a group of men – they might well be Bavarian – slapping and hopping their way through The Schuhplattler.

  3. Just watched “Sarah Palins Alaska” The camping trip with Kate Gouslin (of Kate plus 8) The Palin family’s hospitality is amazing and this mutt(Kate )showed ZERO appreciation and bailed out. It’s not hard to tell why Kate is single and will likely stay that way for LONG TIME.

    Something serious is up this evening, according to my cousin, an insider at the DNC in DC (sent me a text.) Joe Biden might be the next POTUS by Monday evening.

    This guy would make a good POTUS. He’s a straight talker, a straight shooter, and knows his stuff. No compromise for him with extremist Islam.
    He’s pointed out that to talk about a “War on Terror,” is as asinine as talking about WWII as a “War against the Blitzkreig.” He points out that “terror” is only a tactic. The enemy is militant Islam, no ifs, ands, or buts.
    He’s not afraid of the enemy of the U.S.A., and he dares to name it.

  32. This ruling against Obamacare is absolutely huge. Mark Levin has been talking about this for month, arguing that it’s absolutely unconstitutional to compel a citizen to purchase health insurance under the tenets of the infamous Commerce Clause. Apparently a judge agrees.

Breyer argued that James Madison only included the right to bear arms reluctantly, and only because the states wouldn’t sign the Constitution for fear of creating an overmighty central government.”
    Advocates of taking guns away from people specifically want to create an “overmighty central government”, because a disarmed people will have fewer resources to fight back. That’s their motivation.
