  1. I watched this today while I had the car running in the driveway (sorry David S) to melt the ice off the windows.
Condi Rice is brilliant without a doubt. She is calm, deliberative and does not mince words. That is what I enjoyed. She did not back down from Ms. Couric. Hopefully she gets out there more.
On top of that she plays a mean piano.

  2. I wasn’t a big fan of Rice when she was a milquetoast Secretary of State under Bush.
She was mostly ineffectual, and I recall that she was ready to run in Iraq (she opposed the “surge”)
Still, I am grateful that she has enough left in her to slap down an ignorant leftie journalist like Couric.

  3. I think one of the biggest reasons that the left can’t get over the Iraq war and keep pounding the “WDM” dead horse is that the invasion put an end to their UN pals gravy train called the Oil for Food program. You never see any of these low life “so called journalists” like this Couric bag going after the ones who skimmed billions during this program.
I always liked Condi Rice. I see she is still true to her convictions and didn’t let that “hag” get away with her truth twisting, innuendo filled questions. Good for her.

  4. Altaguy, speaking of Oil for Food program and “ones who skimmed billions during this program”, has any heard anything of our Chinese resident Canadian lately?
    Condi is a great lady.

  5. I don’t watch the alphabet news channels so I wouldn’t have known who Rice was turning into intellectual minced meat had the name not been shown at the start of the video. If nothing else it confirms my decision to avoid such ‘news’ sources.

  6. Rice/Palin ticket is the only way to go for a conservative run in 2012. You have a one, two, three punch at the democrats. What’s not to like?
The non-white vote, the female vote, and the intelligent vote.
    Never happen, too funky.

  7. Every time I watch her, Condi that is, I fall in love all over again — brains, poise, character, a concert pianist and not hard to look at either; gawd, it’s more than a man can take!

  8. Katie IMHO, please stick to interviewing slebs like Angelina – trust me hun, you be no match…

  9. Couric like most of the socialist-liberal media subscribe to the idea that if a lie is repeated often enough people will accept the lie as truth. Sadly with about 2/3 of the Canadian population and about 50 percent of Americans this has proven to be true. Doesn’t give you much hope for North America does it?

  10. otterdriver 5:50 pm: The gal is well spoken, and doesn’t mix her words.
In contrast to Palin’s Thanksgiving compilation of quotes from the great orator.

  11. It’s safe to say that America has had great black people in their history and in politics, Obama was just their first one to be progressive.

  12. If we are talking tickets for 2012 I like Christie/Rice.
Tough talking SOB and an eloquent brainiac who happens to a woman and black and did I mention a great pianist?
Palin is a kingmaker and I think she knows this. She is a good one- the late Earl of Warwick would be proud. She is too much of a lightening rod to be an effective candidate for the presidency. I like her a lot but the Republicans need to concentrate on winning.
What to watch for is a primary challenge for Obama. If one emerges he is probably toast if history forms a guide.

  13. wnmc… I totally agree with your assessment of Palin. She has been more effective and purposeful for the US than if she got anywhere near the Whitehouse. The TEA Party wouldn’t have gotten off the ground without her.
I think your Christie/Rice suggestion is great.

  14. Kate….I think your title shoud be reversed. When I first saw it,I thought who in hell could make Couric look rational??

  15. Condi sounds great here, but I’d like to hear her thoughts on taking out Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Wouldn’t that be the same argument as used to take out Hussein?
Mike Pence for President! I don’t care who his running mate is.

  16. Every time I watch her, Condi that is, I fall in love all over again — brains, poise, character, a concert pianist and not hard to look at either; gawd, it’s more than a man can take!

Yeah, me too … initially! But she fooked up Bush’s second term. She was a rotten Secretary of State. I think she’s an Arabist like most at foggy bottom. She doesn’t understand the Arab-Israeli conflict. She said — or is this one of my recurring nightmares? — that Mahmoud Abbas was Martin Luther King. Can someone disabuse me of this memory?
In the interview she mentioned the “multi-confessional” Iraqi democracy. That is a sick joke, as Iraqi Christians will explain to you.
AND, they hid the Iranian intervention in Iraq — that to avoid having to do something about it, or maybe because they shot the bolt on the unnecessary Iraq intervention.
AND, can it be mere co-incidence that America has imploded after these imperial over-reach adventures.
But, yes, she’s a lovely, talented, super-intelligent lady for sure.

  17. Should one need a black/white example to prove a point i think this may be it. Really who do you want as SOS the free world…… Bad hair Hillary or Condi

  18. If stupidity and evil had the wherewithal to prevail however would have come this far/
We could be visiting the stars by now if it were not for the likes of Couric and all the dregs that were the albatross neck adornments throughout the history of mankind … putting up their petty road blocks to real progress at every opportunity.
When it seems bleak and that we cannot win, we somehow manage to always dig deep enough to thwart the scum and move upward and onward.
This period in time is no different. The truth cannot be beaten and reality will always prevail.
That is a law of nature.

  19. On the right, an IQ of 150 and on the left an IQ of 15. There was not even a contest.
My thoughts exactly, except I suspect that Couric’s IQ is probably more like 110. There’s certainly a big gap there in Condi’s favor.
My other thought is that a man wouldn’t have been able to slap Couric down like this. I think that she would have interrupted him and that any attempts to prevent her from interrupting would have looked rude.

  20. Condi Rice’s argument is concise, well reasoned, -truthful!- (as we know from wikileaks) and graceful in its delivery. Not strident, not proud, just the facts.
Did you all notice how utterly unmoved Katie Couric was? It was as if Rice had not even spoken.
You cannot argue with these people.

  21. Wow, when you put an intelligent female, like Condi, up against a progressive, they tend to make the progressive look as stupid as they truly are.
Condi would make a fine president.

  22. moutho-
I guess you did not watch the video. Well I hope nothing goes ‘off in the heartland’. If it does though Moutho, what will you say then?
Complacency is well – just that.
BTW Condi explained the situation we would be faced with today in stark terms (I guess you missed the end of the video). Would you prefer an Iran/Iraq nuclear face off? Sit back on your smug ass but realize that the world is a scary place and ranting against the latest right wing demon will not keep you safe.

  23. Phantom.yes.There are many that when spoken to,do not listen. You can almost see the wheels turning as they hope for an opening to throw in an inane talking point.

‘Desert Storm’ was the direct result of Saddam playing chicken with the treaty that ended ‘Shock and Awe’.

Those who doubt that are feeble,or worse.

  24. Lord knows, journalists aren’t hired for their staggering intellects. They can barely spell the words, for gods sake!
They get where they are, with big tits and white teeth.
And they snap, teeth gnashing, at anyone who shines a light on that fact.

  25. Listened to it again and KC was almost foaming at the mouth to characterize the US as War mongering and wrong. It’s hideous that such enemies of the US are funded by the very people that they attack. A well funded 5th Column!!!

  26. Totally agree Phantom she had an excellent answer to Couric’s tired 6 year old question. Poise and grace are wonderful traits in today’s increasingly shrill and obnoxious world methinks.
Eastern Paul: big tits and white teeth are both very important. Probably more important than poise and someone less important than grace. I wouldn’t want to live in a world without them.

That’s why, Ken, when a conservative changes stripes and becomes a liberal, both parties increase their relative intelligence.

  28. Question for Couric: Had you known that your career was going to tank when you moved to CBS, would you still have made the move?

  29. Couric just repeated the lie….that Saddam had no WMD.
But me and a whack of Kurds disagree.
Connect the dots…..after day 2 of Desert Storm, Iraqui Migs took off…and fled to Iran.
300 tons of Nigerian yellow cake were found in Iraq…..confirming the intelligence regarding Saddams nuclear ambitions.
No nuclear programme was found but then suddenly the Iranians have a mature nuclear programme….
Couric just proved that there is no pleasure to be had in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
Rice’ arab-phile tendencies give me pause.

  30. When it come to boxing or brains, you simply cannot put up a featherweight against a heavyweight.
Give it up Kouric. Do a quiz show.

  31. “the world and the middle east are a better place without saddam hussein”
does that mean had the republicans won in 2008 they would continue to program of killing off world leaders that stand in the way of their oil supply? because it’s *all* about OIL.
    jist askin’….

  32. “Wait a second. What?”
The best thing about Condi in this piece is that she attacked and dismantled the cherry-picked history and foregone conclusions of the no-WMD crowd.
And you gotta love how she weaved in Clinton and the UN.

  33. Beagle,
What leaders have the Americans killed off for their oil…name one. The Iraqis executed Hussein. BTW we are their largest oil supplier. Does this mean our PM should be checking the horizon for drones (Obama’s preferred method of wet work)?
    Sleep- there’s a good boy.
