[University of Waterloo*] is the latest school to fall victim to these self-proclaimed activists. Christie Blatchford was set to give a talk to a small but enthusiastic crowd of people about her new book, Helpless: Caledonia’s Nightmare of Fear and Anarchy, and How the Law Failed All of Us.
Some of the usual suspects decided that Blatchford and her audience were – you guessed it – filthy racists who don’t deserve to have an event.
I say we invade these institutions, fire the administrators and convert them to user pay.
(*Note – linked post mistakenly names Wilfred Laurier.)

EBD – campus security should do its job. The University should be quick to call in the police – “public disturbance”, what loki said @12:50, what Rose said. The ringleaders should face expulsion.
BTW, I don’t read the Globe a whole heck of a lot; when is Blatchford’s next column coming out, anyone?
Universities as centers of free speech are a write-off. The combination of impressionable youths and lefty profs is toxic to free thought and free speech.
The answer may be to put more pressure on other public centers to declare themselves open forums, willing to allow all opinions however controversial or politically incorrect those opinions may be.
Perhaps if everyone wanted the unwashed masses to leave, they could have accused them of hanging up pro-life pictures. That always gets police attention.
” Universities as centers of free speech are a write-off. ”
Wrong attitude – it’s the public’s money that supports these institutions. Fire the administrators; arrest every protestor; if that means 5000 protestors, 5000 arrests and prosecutions. Look at the history of the ’68 Dem convention for details on how it’s done. If they don’t serve the public’s interests, whose are they serving?
