    Anyway…ahem:
    A luxury resort in the Maldives has sparked outrage after a video appeared on You Tube showing members of staff abusing and mocking their guests using a language they were unable to understand.
    “Employees at the Vilu Reef Beach and Spa resort can be seen calling an English-speaking couple ‘infidel’ and ‘swine’ and calling their guests’ marriage illegal in their native Dhivehi tongue throughout the 15-minute wedding ceremony.”
    (…)
    Asking the couple and other ‘officials’ to raise their hands as is customary for Muslim prayers, the ‘celebrant’ begins his marriage vows. ‘Fornication has been legalised according to Article six, 1.11 of the Penal Code’, he chants in a tone favoured by religious scholars. ‘That is, frequent fornication by homosexuals. Most fornication is by males,’ he continues. ‘You are swine. The children that you bear from this marriage will all be bastard swine,’ he says to his guests.
    ‘Your marriage is not a valid one. You are not the kind of people who can have a valid marriage. One of you is an infidel. The other, too, is an infidel – and we have reason to believe – an atheist, who does not even believe in an infidel religion.’”

  2. Mohammed has become the most popular name for newborn boys in Britain. It shot up from third the previous year, overtaking Jack, which had topped the list for the past 14 years but was relegated to third spot.
    “The official list, which covers all births in 2009 in England and Wales, has Mohammed at number 16 but this does not include the many different spellings, which are all ranked separately. When they are added in, Mohammed zooms all the way up to top spot for the first time.
    “In order of popularity, the variant spellings used during the year were: Muhammad, Mohammad, Muhammed, Mohamed, Mohamad, Muhamed, Mohammod, Mahamed, Muhamad, Mahammed and Mohmmed.”

    ‘Obama unlikely to last his first term’
    A US analyst says US President Barack Obama is unlikely to end his first term as there are serious efforts by American officials to remove him due to his incompetence.
    “It is very doubtful at this time that he will last his first term,” Edward Spannaus of Executive Intelligence Review said in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday.
    “There are people who are upset within the administration and the Democratic party who are seriously considering how to remove Obama from presidency,” Spannaus added.
    Many of them put out all their calls for removing Obama under the amendment 25th of the US Constitution.
    The amendment allows for the removal of the US president if he is incapacitated either physically or mentally.
    Spannaus also opined that people in the military are upset because Obama “is not attentive” to what is going on. “We have troops killing and being killed and he is not interested in dealing with it,” he further explained.
    Elsewhere in his remarks, Spannaus said people inside the White House say, “Once he got into the White House he is very unhappy having to govern … he is very frustrated, he is very depressed, some reports say he is on medications and he cannot concentrate or focus, which is a mental problem.”
    “It is the question of what he is going to do now in this term, the question of the second term is out of the question,” he concluded.

    “Hundreds of local revolts against wind farms have jeopardised the plan to use them to generate more than a quarter of Britain’s electricity, figures seen by The Independent reveal.
    New wind farms are needed to have any chance of creating enough renewable energy to reduce reliance on coal and gas power production. But planning approvals for them in England are at an all-time low, with only one in three applications getting the go-ahead from councils in the face of angry and organised opposition from people living nearby.

    “The Greening of Godzilla”
    “Watching the colossal and implosive decline of the once mighty green movement to stop global warming has been an educational experience. It’s rare to see so many smart, idealistic and dedicated people look so clueless and fail so completely. From the anti-climax of the Cluster of Copenhagen, when world leaders assembled for the single most unproductive and chaotic global gathering ever held, the movement has gone from one catastrophic failure to the next.
    A year ago giddy environmentalists were on top of the world. The greenest president in American history had the largest congressional majority of any president since Lyndon Johnson; the most powerful leaders in the world were elbowing each other for places on the agenda at the Copenhagen conference on climate.
    It all came to naught. ”

    “In his first appearance on “The Daily Show” as commander in chief, President Obama defended his administration’s agenda when questioned pointedly about the platform of change and hope he ran on so successfully in 2008.”

    “My attitude is if we’re making progress, step by step, inch by inch, day by day,” Obama said, “that we are being true to the spirit of that campaign.”
    “You wouldn’t say you’d run this time as a pragmatist? It wouldn’t be, ‘Yes we can, given certain conditions?'”
    “I think what I would say is yes we can, but — ”
    Stewart, and the audience, laughed at the “but.”
    Obama didn’t laugh. “But it’s not going to happen overnight,” he finished.

    How is it that Barack Obama could step into the presidency with an air of inevitability and then, in less than two years, find himself unwelcome at the campaign rallies of many of his fellow Democrats?
    The first answer is well-known: His policymaking has been grandiose, thoughtless and bullying. His health-care bill was ambitious to the point of destructiveness and, finally, so chaotic that today no citizen knows where they stand in relation to it. His financial-reform bill seems little more than a short-sighted scapegoating of Wall Street. In foreign policy he has failed to articulate a role for America in the world. We don’t know why we do what we do in foreign affairs. George W. Bush at least made a valiant stab at an American rationale—democratization—but with Mr. Obama there is nothing….

    “Fighting government obesity in Quebec
    By ERIC DUHAIME, QMI Agency
    A sellout crowd of 500 people showed up in Quebec City last weekend for the first-ever event of the right-wing Quebec Freedom Network — Reseau Liberte-Quebec (RLQ).
    Everyone on the right of the Quebec political spectrum was represented in this homemade Tea Party, from former PQ environment minister Jacques Brassard to MP Maxime Bernier, without forgetting the leader of the Action democratique du Quebec, Gerard Deltell.
    This display made the corporatist and bureaucratic left cranky. Before the event even began, manure was dropped in front of the hotel where the assembly was held. S— happens! A few hours later, 20 protesters came with their socialist signs. In the afternoon, one of them made it to the lady’s room to scribble something on the wall calling us fascists.
    Fortunately, no one got distracted. The call for a smaller government in the most government-obese province was loud and clear.
    On the Monday following the event, as a co-founder of the RLQ, I appeared in a televised debate against Rejean Parent, the president of the Quebec teachers’ union. The leftist elite is so unused to being challenged in la belle province that after only a few minutes of debate, he left the show winded and speechless, unable to admit to the huge failures of the Quebec social-democratic model the unions and their puppet politicians have put in place over the last 50 years.
    Quebec has the highest unionization rate, more bureaucrats per capita, the most taxed citizens in North America and we are trailing economically compared to our English-Canadian or American neighbours. If the statist heavy interventionist model worked, we would know it by now.
    Every single Quebecer younger than 40 will have to pay, on average, over $200,000 more in taxes than what we will get in return in public services. We are the first generation in Quebec’s history that will live poorer than our parents.
    And this is no accident. It is the result of a half-century of social planning by politicians of all stripes. They were too busy debating constitutional issues. Both sides were trying to buy every single vote they could for their No or Yes camps in exchange for favours that were paid either by the rest of Canada or by the next generations. Remember that English Canada is sending $8.5 billion in transfer payments annually to Quebec alone.
    Now that the constitutional storm is almost over, we can see and evaluate the size of the disaster of this constitutional war on Quebec:
    • A health-care system where emergency service means an average wait of
20 hours and 13 minutes;
    • An education system where young boys drop out at a rate of more than 30%;
    • A public pension fund that will be empty by 2037;
    • A public debt, at the provincial level alone, of more than $223 billion.
    And the list could go on and on.
    No one should then be surprised if a common sense revolution is finally taking place. The only surprise is why it didn’t happen earlier. And when Quebecers finally switch their allegiances, watch out. We will make Albertans look like a bunch of socialists! The speeches heard over the weekend would give you a good preview.”

    “Revolt on the Left
    The Belmont Club post Tipping Points argued the storm petrels would really arrive when Democrats “realize that [the party] can no longer deliver the goods it falsely promised them. A revolt within the Leftist constituency led by the constituency itself, rather than their traditional patrons will sound the true death knell for the old system. The Tea Parties can only heighten the issue. But a revolt by the Democatic minority and blue collar constituents will be the coup de grace.”
    That moment of rebellion, as manifested by an “enthusiasm” deficit among Democrat voters, may have been been coming for some time. But is it here? Byron York wonders whether Bill Clinton, ever the opportunist, is already looking to lead the discontented. Clinton recently gave such an ambiguous speech to a dispirited, half-empty auditorium that York remarked “does he really want Obama and Dems to win?”
    Well if they’ve already lost the 2010 election, maybe not. Because Bill would be looking to lord over the remains.”
