Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Yup. I like was that old Dane right at the end says about the press in “their own country”.
This vid meshes nicely with a recent guest post over at WUWT. The citizen is definitely the loser when it comes to (big)wind power.
.
I watched the whole thing and what gnawed at me the most was that these people complained about the turbines not putting out the advertised megawatts, they complained about the fact that these turbines weren’t displacing the tonnes of CO2 that were advertised, and they missed the fact that all of this is being done to save CO2 emissions when the need to reduce CO2 emissions hasn’t even been proven in the first place.
It’s a house of cards built upon sand and people are ignoring that the foundational premise that justifies worring about CO2 emissions in the first place has not only not been proven, it’s extremely doubtful and likely false altogether.
The old truism still applies “Follow the money”.
Thanks to SDA for an excellent link for further ammunition against wind energy – http://www.europesillwind.org.
Have you noticed that there are no wind turbines in the big cities where all the ecoterrorists live.

Wind and solar are expensive, unreliable and unproductive and that’s the way the enviroterrorists want it.
The widespread, huge reserves of shale gas and oil, which technology can now exploit, has these loons freaking.
CO2 as a polutant has not been called to question but has been discredited.
For example, the observed 20th century warming is largely based up North American surface records which due to Urban Heat Island Effect and sloppy siting of weather stations is useless.
In the face of ClimateGate evidence of conspiracy, they are restricted to repeating the same old lies and alarmism.
I was just wondering if anybody, anywhere in the world, made videos for the Internet without the super gay background music. Thank you makers of ‘Europe’s Ill Wind’, your choice of going without music has increased the impact of the video, and it actually looks like a serious production.
Kate, thanks for bringing this video to us. The wind turbines that we saw this fall that were scattered all over Denmark looked like a blight. The people we asked do not like them.
I saw part of the stalk for one of these bloody things driving through Cayuga on Tuesday. They are being delivered to Post Dover’s new windfarm.
You really get a feel for the size of them when you see a section going down the road. Its as big as two transport trailers, and probably longer. I saw a school bus parked next to a turbine blade in Minnesota once, the blade was bigger. Looked like the wing off a 747. Carbon fiber, of course. Anybody know what a square yard of carbon goes for these days?
The stalk sections travel on a special jig that has the coupling in the front and separate wheels on the back. The transport jig alone looks to be worth on the order of $500k, at a conservative estimate. I could be wildly on the low side, given the penchant people have for gold plating stuff like this. Some welding outfit made a fortune on that job.
Eventually it will sit and spin down by Port Dover on Lake Erie, producing NOTHING but noise and an eyesore most of the time, because as all sailors know the winds off Erie are very changeable. Making the electric output of turbines extremely variable, on a much shorter time scale than one can change the output of a coal fired generating station. That would be Nanticoke station, which is a couple miles down the road from the wind thingy. They put the windmills in Dover not because the wind is so great, but because that’s where the heavy-duty power lines are. For Nanticoke, of course.
So the stinky coal station will be providing the fill-in voltage for the windmills, and to do so the fire will be burning at full capacity. Total carbon savings, zippo.
Your Ontario tax dollars at work, and coming soon to the West if Iggy gets into power. You may depend upon it.
Follow the money is always good advice. Corrupt rent seekers plus corrupt governments are always ready to fleece the taxpayers “for the good of the planet”.
One item missed in the video was the fact these scattered wind turbines are expensive to service and repair and have no real world life cycle history that can be relied on.
Looks like the lunatic left has found a nice and easy way to the public purse. Notice how little we hear about their pressing concerns like social housing crisis, children living in poverty, battered women, etc. since they found this route.
“Your Ontario tax dollars at work, and coming soon to the West if Iggy gets into power. You may depend upon it.”
Wind farms have been a part of Alberta’s southern landscape for years, and no thanks to Iggy. My Mom worked for CanHydro for a few years as an office manager and marketing assistant, and she was never made aware of their own turbines being able to supply constant power.
I’m sure if the media felt like exposing the truth on the turbines ineffectiveness, all they would have to do is go and watch them in the winter.
What needs to be addressed is why reason and logic are incompetent tools for preventing ambitious entrepreneurs from hoodwinking politicians into screwing the public.
All of the people interviewed in this short film seem well-informed and well-intentioned, but it doesn’t make a bit of difference.
The last part of the video was almost the most revealing in that the press is complicit in this scam.
Is Prentice one of the political lemmings mentioned in the video or is he just playing lip service to the fraud until it is debunked, as one way or another it eventually will be?
This is cynical big business using big government ‘leftism’ to suck huge amounts of money out of the tax-payer. The press is unwittingly on-side with big business in this one. There is a point where big biz and big guv are one.
After watching that clip, I can say that the only way to turn this idiotic trend around is through hot revolution where you take all the perps out to the court yard, … politicians, their business cronies and perhaps the leaders of a few enviro wacko organizations and proceed with a ceausescu special.
Then we should push forward with real renewable energy programs. What we have now is diseased.
Poor Brits. Chased out of their cities by non-assimilating immigrant ghettos, chased out of the countryside by wind farms…
They still talk about emissions, etc. They haven’t fully gotten it yet.
Oz at 2:21 AM, I’ve noticed that the “need to reduce CO2 emissions” isn’t even being discussed any more. It’s really frustrating.
Oops. Should have phrased that better. It’s the need to prove that CO2 is the cause of GW that has slipped off the radar screen.
Louise, once you surrender the CO2 point to the Envirofacists, that opens things up for political solutions to a non-existent problem.
To think it hasn’t even been a year since the WhistleBlower releases from East Anglia CRU is really sad.
“It’s the need to prove that CO2 is the cause of GW that has slipped off the radar screen.”
There’s still loads of studies being published all the time. You won’t find them intelligently discussed on blogs like this though.
An excellent but maddening video.
The first mistake these people make is going along with the idea of the need to cut CO2 emissions and that CO2 is pollution.
Until they counter this notion, they will continue to lose this battle.
I watched the first 1:37. The rest later.
BUT, notice how he said the fans aren’t going to reduce CO2. Well, no!
But I find this kind of statement maddening for it seems to add credence to the notion of man-made climate change and that CO2 is a factor in this, which we know to be ascientific nonsense.
This is a dangerous counter-argument which seems to take as given the risk of CO2; which seems to bow to the green-commie meme: human breathing, industrial activity and cow farts are killing the planet.
We do the same thing when we refer to leftist hypocrites like Algore when we cite his LARGE carbon footprint.
The government of B.C. is heavily subsidizing the building of wind farms near Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge, with many more to come.
An electrician friend who’s working on the projects said that after they’re built, there will only be a full time job for one person,an apprentice electrician,at the Chetwynd site, forty windmills.
Everything is computerized and the guy is “on call” if anything goes wrong.
Green jobs, but not very many of ’em.
So, is there a political Party in this country voicing that idea? I mean there’s plenty of ammo against AGW, now…………..crickets.
Money talks, BS walks.
The world is upside down. Bloodsucking deadweight imbeciles have shrieked until the elitists saw the profit to be made from their ravings, implemented them as policy, and now here we are: murdering Islamists need to be coddled and brought in by the boatload to put their votes in the right place; pointless toy `green` energy and `green` every-frickin`-thing else, as long as tons of money are generated for the elitists.
Congrats `liberals`, way to go `progressives` – you have truly proved yourselves useful idiots to everyone BUT working people, just as in the Soviet Union and China. Warning: you might just get a revolution – but it won`t be the one you want.
Knacker, didn’t Alberta Power use windmills to supplement diesel generation at remote locations? They’re great for that purpose, because the diesel can be throttled to make up for wind drops. The two generators work together, and the wind saves diesel fuel.
It is economical for a small load remote location that can’t be put on the grid.
But it doesn’t work on a grand scale, because you can’t throttle a 3000 megawatt coal fired generator. You either run it wide open or waste coal.
Gas turbine generators (jet engine on steroids) -can- be throttled appropriately, but WE DON’T HAVE ANY, and they canceled the ones that they were going to build. Indicating even more that this whole plan is a freak show for the Useful Idiots. If they were even faintly serious about the CO2 thing serious they’d have built the Oakville plant and damn the NIMBYs.
What annoys me is that everyone involved in this Ontario boondoggle knows all of the above. Its -obvious-, painfully so. But here we are, with friggin’ huge windmill stalks going down Highway 3 towards Port Dover three times a week.
Ka-CHING!
The root question is… Carbon Footprints and C02.
Riddle me this.. What is the volume of the C02 emmissions to create the turbines and set up the wind farms ?
Add the longevity and replacement costs versus
how much these are supposed to save…Hmmmm.
Even the manufacture of an electric car creates
a more C02 than it will ever come close to save.
It is a hollow agrument to support these initiatives as saving anything…
They call it Green as that is the color of money..
What I don’t get is the complaint that, since wind turbines showed up near their houses, several people have had to go on steroids and other medication to deal w/lung ailments. How would something that merely turns in the wind cause something to go wrong w/the air? There’s a bit of hypochondriac quackery here, I think, fanned no doubt by the UK’s “benefits culture.”
I’m no fan of wind power as a magic bullet of “clean” power generation, and am perfectly aware of how it’s turned into a cash cow for cynical corporations looking for gov’t subsidies, but I can’t help but regard these sorts of complaints as dubious. Saying that the sound, or the flickering of sunlight through the blades can cause nervous tension – sure. Wind turbines causing asthma? Come on.
Oh, and Ed Miliband is an evil prat.
Rick mcginnis – you have, obviously, never been to a wind farm. The continual whoosh, whoosh of those bird slaughters is distracting and irritating – all the time. Like anti pestic music (disco and modern ‘talk, talk’ – rap) and a dripping tap; these are sounds designed to drive thinking people over the edge of sanity. Any sound that repeats itself, out of sync with heartbeats, makes life hellish.
Rick, they weren’t stating that the turbines were causing breathing issues – it was the laying of gravel, dust and road traffic associated with the infrastructure prior to installation.
