Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
All I can say is, “Heh.”
I want one.
Someone could lose an eye!
If someone looses an eye they are looking at it wrong…. or it becomes a sport.
Where can one get one of them cannons?
I already lost an eye. I still want one.
I just hope it’s registered.
Didn’t you already post this?
Ah, apparently that was EBD. Still. Had a moment of deja-vu there.
@ k sticker
yes she did but she is making a joke out of the koran thing.
Paul: Yeah, that’s what I thought. The h/t threw me off. Whoops :S
Now that your attention is focused on cannons, think of one just a bit bigger that shoots 6″ sections of 1″ re-bar. Remarkable critter. Now think of a “74” Ship of the Line. 74 guns, 37 a side. Can you imagine the broadside out of those puppies.
Nice! Thank you.
The TV show Mythbusters tested the myth that a bullet from a real live gun would cause a tank of propane to explode into a ball of fire if it hit it. They used a 9 mm Walther, a shotgun, and a 30.06 rifle. The Walther didn’t even dent the tank (this was to test a James Bond stunt). The shotgun penetrated the tank, but only created a cloud of escaping gas. The 30.06 bullet went completely through the tank, but again, no explosion.
They tried again with the 30.06, using tracer rounds. Again, no explosion, despite direct hits.
Since I suspect all these bullets had much higher velocities and kinetic energy than our mini-cannon, I think the shot where the balloon – where the gas is under much less pressure than the tank – burst into flame was rigged. I call shenanigans.
Shoot a fricking koran already.
Better still line up a bunch of korans and blow them to hell with a stick of dynamite.

My impression of the “myth-busters” would get deleted.
Anyone with any sense knows that propane will not combust unless mixed with O2. 2 rounds the first to release the gas and a tracer to ignite it…..starts a fire which could cause the tank to explode……
Sasquatch:
Once again, you missed my point. In the video, one single shot from the mini-cannon supposedly ignites the balloon of flammable gas. Trying to see if the James Bond stunt from Casino Royale, where Bond fires a single shot from his pistol into a tank of compressed gas, which instantly explodes, was real, the mythbuster attempted to replicate it, as outlined above. NEVER HAPPENED.
So, how does this single tiny BB from this cannon explode this balloon? That’s my point – I think most of the stuff here is faked.
KevinB
The point on which we agree is that explosions are both easier and harder to ignite than people think.
How many are injured yearly by boosting batteries?
How difficult is it to deliberately get a battery to detonate?
In WW1 tracer/incendary rounds made lighter than air-craft dangerous propositions.
The Hindenburg burned more than exploded.

I wonder what would happen if one were allowed to simply modify the “Bullet”. I do mean the projectile that impacts the target….

Kate, loved the sound track eh…
I believed the video until the long range shots: it is impossible to be so accurate with such a short barrel.
It’s a fake, made with the canon, a .22 rifle and lots of practice.
