Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

“The USS Nebraska Was Not Invited”
And – if we’re to be frank – required no invitation…
And that’s irony of it all eh?
If the eco-fascists hadn’t worked so hard against the only viable zero emissions power source they could have their little uptopian dream.
Figure, what, 14 or 15 plants would see the country well fed on the power grid?
Don’t forget the first nuc sub, the USS Nautilus, SSN-571 and her historic message in 1955: “Underway on nuclear power.”
Ask an eco-fascist and undoubtedly Iran having zero emission power is in their Utopian dream, but not us.
Maybe I’m obtuse, but I don’t understand what the writer meant by ‘They will be feeding power into the grid while they go from solar and wind power plants.’ The drivers personally will be stopping to pedal power some wind mills? They’re going to dust off some solar panels before dinner? Or is this just the usual BS and they will be taking power from the grid which is 70% non carbon free.
Eco Utopians, gullible in extremis, played like puppets by the Eco-Grifters making the money off the great AGW Scam.
Useless fools seeking their carbon free lives.
The story doesn’t seem to make clear if they are buying the power they are consuming elsewhere at the same high (supersubsidized) price they are getting paid at home for their tiny grid input. If they are selling dear and buying cheap, there is nothing carbon neutral about that.
Interesting. This promises to be a Rube Golberg-esque display of backward engineering of personal transport. Bicycles would do better.
So, thinking that they are not carrying solar and wind generation equipment to ‘recharge by wind or solar’ it is a complete farce or they have a 36,000 mile extension cord and a fleet of semis to roll it out. That or there will be extreme green number crunching to show the car used less solar and wind than is available on the planet. What’s the use?
I wonder if they’ll be accompanied by a professional film crew to record this momentous event.
Greg, “Maybe I’m obtuse, but I don’t understand what the writer meant by ‘They will be feeding power into the grid while they go from solar and wind power plants.”
No one knows, but it sounded good in the statement…just like the entire enviro movement. The term, “Useful idiots” comes to mind.
Sad thing is, it is these kind of fools that have the ears of the fools like Prentice and Renner making the gullible ministers waste billions on stupidity. How many people do you intelligent people know, that call into government offices like Renner or Prentices and tell them to nut up and look to the source of all this SCAM? These clowns never look at the source, or listen to the inflection in the voices of the poofters that call for all this global warming crap, ding ding, this is eco-echo. Listen up folks and realize this is a war for our childrens future economy being waged by things that will never have children, they don’t care about tomorrow. Phone or write your ministers before the schools here make the kids bring their own toilet paper!
dmorris: you mean a film crew with a caravan of over a dozen SUVs, vans, limos, trucks and semis?
And where exactly is the electricity coming from? Possibly one of those pesky old clean coal fired power plants? Or maybe a nuclear plant? There’s an inconvenient truth in there somewhere.
Somehow the concepts “perpetual motion” and “carbon neutral” seem equivalent to me.
Seems to me that Rick Hansen already did this. No?
Maybe the fact that he exhaled disqualifies?
bartinsky, these people are still upset that the West emerged from the Dark Ages.
Check the route and notice where they are not going, namely any place that’s not far from the grid.
Where’s Bozo The Jester (BTJ) to enlighten us redneck nuckle draggers?
I need some comedic relief. Although the article is quite funny by its shear lunacy, I’m sure our own court buffoon can enhance the nonsense it even more.
As to the “zero emissions” part, aluminum takes 12-20 kilowatt-hours per kilogram to refine. Are their little windmills going to pay back the energy it took to make the car? How about the energy to make the windmill?
You want zero emissions, you better be walking. And don’t eat beans.
So they are going to build a bunch of one-time-use(less) vehicles made from all kinds of environmentally nasty things like carbon fiber, epoxy resins, and lithium ion batteries… to show the world how electric vehicles are environmentally superior?
Cool. I’ll buy 10 million of these new boats and throw all of the worlds existing boats in the garbage. That should be good for the environment. Yay team!
Fortunately all those power outlets along the way will be filled with magic pixie dust, and not just wires that lead back to a bunch of burning coal.
The claim to be “carbon neutral” but say nothing about how they’re going to drag around the mass of lithium hydroxide needed to absorb all of the CO2 they’re going to exhale during the race. Even though LiOH is the lightest CO2 scrubber one can get, people breathe out a lot of CO2.
OTOH, they could hold their breaths for the duration of the race or travel underwater for the ocean going part of the journey; if they stayed at a depth of 700 feet or more, then their exhaled CO2 wouldn’t reenter the atmosphere for hundreds of years.
It’s impossible to make the world idiot proof.
Human nature will always provide a better idiot.
John Galt
How True. Infinitely depressing, but a fact of life.
Three-eyed fish.
Oh the horror.
every lieberal should participate in this race, especially on election day
Will they be crossing the oceans by sail boat? Will they be heating their food? Will they wonder why the 3rd World folks are laughing their asses off at them?
Ooops, sorry, I heard someone say “a better idiot” and I thought you were calling me…
