i can barely remember my own motivations for liberal/progressive/wtf ideas, but I’m positive they had nothing to do with bigger government, regulations and more taxes.
It’s amazing how the the lib/left now worships anything to do with the apparatus of the state, no matter how intrusive or just plain annoying.
Well MSM urnalists are frothing mad that Harper dare touch a sacred cow of Statistics, it’s clear MSM is on board with the liberal agenda what really pisses me off is how they use their media standing to influence Canadians who can’t be bothered to educate themselves over this issue.
Where’s CBC’s poll on: Did you know you can be hauled off to jail if you refuse to fill out the long form census? Wanna bet the average Canadian doesn’t know that fact? Don’t expect MSM to report that little tidbid it might influence their stupid audience.
If you want the Government to have the power to throw you in jail for not telling them what tribe you belong to in the census, and you don’t want to hire any white men and women to work for the civil service… than you might be a Liberal/NDP’er

If the information gathered during a census is supposed to help, would someone like to explain hospital waits?

But I thought Harper was a control freak. At least that is what the Liberals keep telling us. So why is it when he, through the Government, is giving up control over the citizenry that he is accused of being short sighted and not controlling enough by removing criminal penalties for not filling out the government worker job security questionaire? Is it because Harper really doesn’t control the government but the Liberal beauraucrats do and they are the real control freaks?!

decriminalizing pot would be a good thing for society and for each and every one of you. pot. not hard drugs.
no, i don’t think not wanting to fill out a census is criminal. but realistically, if people were serious about getting rid of it, they’d fill it with bogus answers.
and telling fibs to get out of jury duty is a really good idea if you have better things to do with your life.

Quick question. If the government wants data on a particular subject, why not hire a professional research firm? If they really need to know transit use statistics, why not ask city council? I’ve paid for dozens of these things over the years.

What if you think decriminalizing both is a good idea?
The girlfriend of my daughter’s father is very NDP. She was laid off from Air Canada last September so is using her “free” travel as much as possible – loves to travel first class – got to go to China last October and was bragging about all the cheap things over there – conveniently forgetting about the lack of labour standards, Workman’s Comp; lack of Unemployment Insurance etc, etc. I listened in fascination as she talked out of both sides of her mouth.
Johanne, I’ve seen so many people do that, it makes one sick. Vietnam and Cuba are such paradises for spoiled white people.

How about a compromise? Decriminalize not filling in a long census form and criminalize MP’s that don’t publish detailed expense reports. Win-win.

If you believe in getting rid of the tools that create more safety nets and at the same time creating sanctioned users of the ones that exist now … I suppose you are a one.
If you believe that the Census long form is a bad thing, but that the war on drugs is working, you are a Conservative.

I’d be happy if they just decriminalized the peaceful possession of a duck gun or a .22 same as a bow or chainsaw or made paying tax on a personal income voluntary (as originally written in statute) .. I mean as long as we’re all libertarian like and ‘decriminalizing’ non criminal activities.
If you think more government is the same as more democracy, you might be a Liberal.
The left want to incarcerate lawabiding citizens for not filling out the long form census but they make us fund safe injection sites so addicts can have access to clean needles and a warm fuzzy place to get high on ILLEGAL DRUGS. Liberalism equals a mental illness and it appears you can catch it because MSM is covered in Liberal Pox.

I guess one could always claim to be unable to fill out the census because they were too high on drugs to comprehend and answer the questions.

As a libertarian, I favour decriminalizing everything except, you know, actual crime. Not made up crimes. We forget that prohibition is a “progressive dream”, originally.
What is the next non issue that the Canadian media are going to try to blow out of proportion?
I hear Stephen Harper wears boxers, not briefs, maybe they can turn that into a national scandal and try to topple the government.

It is always the Liberal that wants to force people to divulge their private information. When a public is forced by its government to report its citizens private details they live in a totalitarian society!
It’s funny that the Canadian liberals are so concerned (to an obsessive fault) with demographic and financial statistics in Canada, but will not report certain politically incorrect statistics such as “black crime” as does the US. Instead of addressing real issues for public safety they would rather disarm and force the public to endure crime without the safety of statistics. They leave the public undefended with both the tools of information and physical defence. Meanwhile they continue to punish working citizens for not providing invasive information that can easily be used against them at dictatorial discretion.
Liberalism has been so disgraced to a level beyond embarrassment it borders crimes against humanity; they now reclassify themselves as “progressives” in shame of the liberal label. Regardless of how they wish to hide themselves and their misdeeds, their intent is the full destruction of western civilization.
When a Liberal/ “Progressive” speaks – all sane people should instinctive do the opposite.
Look, the “non-contributors” in society are running scared and towards government and NGOs because they see how the use of computers and software will eventually put them out of a job.
As we need less and less people to do more and more things, there are going to be an increasing amount of people that have little else to do but protest why they don’t have Ferraris.
