Yes but, in the new order some are more equal that others.
I haven’t heard of the Red Cross visiting the Nazi concentration camps. I know they visited POW camps run by the Nazis though. Anyone have information to back the concentration camp claim?
And yes, I am going to do a Bing search myself.
gord 5:49. Binged it myself. I had stopped supporting the Red Cross a few years ago. Now I regret every nickel I ever gave them.
POW were protected under the Geneva convention, the Taliban are not a reconized army with said uniform ergo they are enemy combatants.
No amount of humanitarianism by the Israelis will be credited to their account of world public esteem, and no amount of savagery by their enemies will be debited from their account of world public esteem. The Israelis have been deemed by the Western leftist intelligentsia and their acolytes to be an outpost of white, racist colonialism, while their–and our–Muslim enemies have been deemed to be virtuous, victimized people of color. They are now like stock characters in a Victorian melodrama; their roles are defined by the stereotypes, and no degree of empirical evidence will suffice to convince the leftist chattering classes that the stereotypes do not fit the facts.
If the goal of the Red Cross is to provide aid to the suffering, in an unbiased way, you can’t fault them for providing first aid to the Taliban. It’s not like they’re helping them plant IEDs, or teaching them how to fire an RPG. I’m sure a Canadian Forces Medic wouldn’t hesitate to help a wounded Taliban captive. It’s about human decency. We aren’t sadists, even if they are.
that is the same argument for being tolorant of the intolorant when do you stop and say “hey man i can’t keep helping you as your tring to kill me ” at some point and this is becoming more and more hard …you MUST draw you line in the sand and people don’t want to do that naymore as it is uncool and it means that they can’t be friends with everyone. to bad so sad . As for basic human decency i think that was shown by the west not obliteratting the middle east completley after 9/11 …we instead used our hearts and thought there are people there that side with us there are epople over there tha tdon’t hate the west and we risked our own soldiers lives and lost many to many if you ask me just to show those people that we are not barbarrians ..and also to give them a chance to see that we are not what the propagandist’s in the western main stream media show it to be or memeri t.v. tried to proclaim. so after that to me it is an amazing way above and beyond my scope of comprehension to see our own helping andh ealing our enemies only to have them harm our own …it is self defeating if you ask me . And also very sad and i will never support the red cross again . basic human decency when have muslims ever showed anyone in the west any of that type of crap ohh yeah omar kadhir …lol…give your head a shake .

No – but that’s not what the fuss is about. The RC is providing training to the Taliban in who they might provide first aid to their fallen comrades. In effect, donations to the RC from western countries are being used to subsidize the Taliban by improving their support infrastructure – note that this infrastructure is used to attack the armies of those western countries and their allies. I have little quarrel with the RC assisting the wounded – I have a great deal more trouble with them improving the Taliban’s ability to maintain forces in the field.
Until the Taliban starts uniforming its soldiers, and stops using civilians as shields amongst other crimes of war, they remain “not an army” and not entitled to Geneva Convention protections.
They should all be shot on sight. As well, all aid for them should be stopped. All medical aid to them should be considered in violation of those same conventions.

rebarbarian..
Did the Bing search and came up with far too much information to wade through at the moment. I will read up on the concentration camps and the Red Cross in the near future.
I will however reiterate what I said on a previous thread concerning the Red Cross. I have known several WW2 POW’s. My father was a POW in Poland for over 3 years. Had it not been for the Red Cross most of the POW’s would have died before the war ended. The guards had no food or money and the Red Cross packages could be used to barter with. It made the prisoner more valuable alive than dead. It also gave the prisoners added value to the local villagers who traded bread cheese and other food for chocolate tea etc.
I’m not trying to justify any wrong the Red Cross has done. Just pointing out that without them things could have been much worse. For my family anyway.
I don’t trust the Red Cross.
Ever since I heard stories about them in WW11 from my relatives who served overseas, I wouldn’t give them a plug nickel.
Sad, but true.
I got off board with the RC back in the 80’s. I used to donate blood and when the ‘aids scare’ came along they focused their attention on hetrosexuals by asking inane screening questions like,”have you ever been to Haiti”? They refused to target the group who were high risk as it was not politically correct. The result was…..well everone knows what the result was. Many innocent transfusion recipients died of AIDS and Hep C. The RC by their own negligence was forced out of the blood donation business. Regrettably the minister of health at the time, some guy named Epp escaped culpability.
I’m ready to see Gaza nuked right now, just to end this failed state shiithole from hogging all the conversational air time.
I’m sick of even hearing the GD word – g’head start yappin’ about it I’m winding up my best right cross.
Bill Elder, nuke Gaza? You can’t DO that man! Its inhuman!
Daisy cutters, that’s the ticket.
Does anyone need any more proof that Hamas, China, Cuba, North Korea, ect are horrible?
I agree, the Red Cross is not a worthy charity. I’ve heard stories from WW2 vets, that the RC charged Canadian soldiers for bandages. Most of the soldiers went to the Salvation Army tents, whenever possible. The RC has been up to its neck in scandal numerous times, in my memory. I’m not supporting the organization, at all.
What I meant by my previous statement, is that a humanitarian aid organization would have a hard time justifying itself for picking and choosing who they try to help. I can understand their position, when it comes to providing relief for suffering people, no matter their affiliation. Whatever the consequences for this action, I don’t care, but the action is to be expected, if not tolerated.
gord has a point. I worked with a couple of WW II air force types who were prisoners of war for a few years and I was struck by them saying that they were never mistreated by the guard staff and that they, because of parcels received from home, ate better than the guards and their families did.
However, that was then and this is now. I quite donating to the Red Cross when they refused to forward some staple items to the former Yugoslav refugees at CFB Petawawa in the 90s. The items were deemed not politically correct any longer.
dp – we had a longish thread about this. The general consensus of everyone who wasn’t T or Davenport was that the Red Cross shouldn’t be giving medical training or supplies to the Taliban, that that isn’t the equivalent of helping the wounded or prisoners.
The Halocost never happened, That’s what all you facists believe.
dp – Human decency, yes, but there is such a thing as giving aid to the enemy. Edith Cavell was shot by the Germans in the First World War, because of this, and she was guilty too. the Red Cross seems not to have done too much for political prisoners in Cuba, whose life was deteriorating from poor treatment. I’m confused on some of these matters also. I do not agree with the Canadian soldier who shot (mercy killed?) an Afghan combatant either. but then, I’m not there in that situation.

I had the same experience.
Both my wife and I quit donating blood at that time.
We had been regular donators, every 4 months, for many years.
The archane questions:
a) have you ever been to Haiti
b) have you ever used interveinous drugs
c) have you had sexual relations with homosexuals
d) do you have tattoos
A ‘yes’ to any one of those questions could bar you from donating.
It was barring the door after the horses had already bolted.
Nos from both of us to all, but we stopped donating because we were fed up and sick of the stonewalling that the poor people who had received tainted blood were getting.
No one who was responsible for that disaster ever was called to account and that was the beginning of the steady decline in our respect for Canada as a nation and a society.
My readings of the World War One history is that the troops wanted to take the war into Germany to show the German citizen of the devastation unleashed in a war. This was ignored by the elites and this unawareness of the horror of war by the ordinary German was, at a minimum, a contributor to World war Two. Reading the comments here is recognizing the ordinary Canadian is aware of the anti-semitism being fostered in Canada and elsewhere. What does the elitist publishing factions think we will do if the truth is actually told? We will not run raging into the street, but will quietly say it is about time some one has stepped up and tried to bring the Canadian anti-semitism out into the open. Let’s not have our following generations carry the shame of both Germany and the Canadian Government inaction leading to the “Holacaust” by failing to act as was done during the 1930’s. not so Cheerful:
The Red Cross also teaches first aid to the Taliban…
