I know what you’re thinking. A city zoo that keeps guinea pigs?

I suspect the Squirl Master killed the Guinea Pigs in the Pen with the candle stick.
The evidence would indicate that between the hours of 8:30pm and 8:30am a squirrel carrying a rotten orange entered the guinea pig cage and fed them the “kool aid”. It happens in lots of cult followings. Unfortunately the leader seems to have succumbed to his own devices and thus prosecution will not proceed.
Somebody should check Bob Barker’s alibi.
Our ever-so-progressive-greenie Mayor & his fellow progressives have just passed an new statute allowing people in Vancouver to keep chickens in their backyard.
In order to be “humane” they are also funding a Chicken Refuge center so that there is a “Safe House” for lost & abandoned chickens found wandering our streets- no doubt staffed with union paying CUPE members.
The local coyote population is overjoyed.
If you want to know who poisoned the oranges, you should start with these guys.
Am I the first one to make a small dead animals remark?
Wow….65 small dead animals.
Someone had to say it!!
I believe that a number of the guinea pigs are raised by the zoo to be used as live food for some of the other zoo inhabitants (pythons, etc.). This, however, is no excuse for what happened to them. The perpetrators should be caught and punished.
I guess Edmonton homicide will have to focus all resources on this little incident!
Who will be Bob barfers “guinea pig” on this one! LOL
The Peta people were very quiet in the twenty some comments to the Edmonton Sun article. Don’t they pull stunts like this?
Maybe it was a yukaflux party gone horribly wrong?
Melamine or some other contaminant in the pet food from China, very likely.
Ooooh LC Bennet..it’s been a long time since I heard the word ‘yukaflux!’Brings back a lot of memories from when I first moved to Alta many moons ago.My head still hurts!!!
Maybe these where the same characters who drove over my cat last night, or this morning killing her.
Well it IS the Valley Zoo after all. For those who haven’t been, it isn’t your traditional zoo and is quite small – very typical for Edmonton.
Rev. – That’s terrible about your cat.
Aizlynne – It’s a great little zoo; they have Mexican axolotls, which are quite cool; also sea lions. Of course Kate probably doesn’t like sea lions.
I had guinea pigs once as a child and they are completely pointless animals; they sit and twitch in terror and poop all the time; they require an extraordinary amount of maintenance. I mean, I wouldn’t murder them or anything, but still.
When the North American/World economic tsunami downturn hits home, this story will be on page………………?
“Oh! The inhumanity of it all!”

Well, they were ‘guinea pigs’…
I’ve always loathed rodents of any kind, but this does seem cruel. Many chicken/beef/pork eating posters on other sites seem quite removed from reality. But I say, take it to the extreme and check out “Carrot juice is murder” by the Arrogant Worms on youtube,
Yikes Mamba!
You sound like a demanding woman.
The Valley Zoo also has what I like to call a “Gopher Paddock”. The guinea pigs are close to the petting zoo; small children love them even if they’re not lions and tigers and bears. When my daughter was two she would call the guinea pigs at the zoo “piggy pigs”.
