I gather Michael missed the memo that says in life there is no free lunch.
But when you get elected, it “Club Fed, Whined and Dined.”
This is just like the gun registry, unless its over 2 BILLION its not worth a look…

I am for all three of the above and lets extend that to the provincial/territorial guments and corporations too.
Any entity that receives taxpayer support should be subject to public audit and reporting as to the actual use of those funds. If you don’t want to tell me what you are buying, don’t ask for my money
Anyone remember Andre’ Oullet? He was the leader of Canada Post and believed that he worked on the ‘honour system’ and did not need receipts for his $1,000 dollar a day expenses. He got away with it also. I have met the man. He went from being a handsome man(not that there is anything wrong with that) to becoming the male equivalent of South Park’s Sally Struthers.Hmmm…Isn’t today ‘draw Mohammed day”? ~(((:-(>>>
While it would be nice to see that the AG has a hand in auditing all public accounts, the accounts in question are already audited by very well qualified external auditors and I assume that they advise her of their findings.
To have the AG perform another audit would be a waste of time and money. She says that she would do a management audit, but external auditors raise these types of issues during their regular activities.
I would much rather that she and her staff pursue audits of more important issues, such as where the $40+ million of our money went in the Adscam affair. There is nothing to stop her from chasing that file.
If she audits the accounts in question, she will have to either drop other audits, or hire more staff – neither of which would sit well with me.
Workers who work away from home terminals or offices are allowed to claim a certain amount/day for meals. But, those meals must be consumed far away from said terminal, or home.
Then they have to get a Board and lodging claim signed from their employers to expense it on their tax return. AISH recipients are allowed a mileage allowance for travelling for medical, but no meal expense, even if gone for the whole day.
So, use those rates for MPs. During sitting days they should not be reimbursed for meals. Most, if not all MPs have homes or apts in Ottawa.
I’m in favour of having them published. If they are already audited I see no need for the AG to audit them as well.
I want my MPs to pay for their own damned restaurant meals.
I want my MPs to pay for their own damned haircuts.
I want my MPs to pay for their owned damned transportation.
I want my MPs to pay any and all of the taxes that I would have to pay in any and every circumstance.
When these MPs raise taxes, I want them paying those higher taxes too.
They should have to live as the rest of us do and feel the impact of their decisions as just as we feel them.
the moment the guvment stops demanding to see my receipts, I’ll stop demanding to see theirs. I know how I spend my money, not too sure how they spend my money.

No,No folks,it was Mr. Trudeau that said that we have to pay MP’s more to get qualified individuals to run for office.It was BS then and its BS now.We got some of the dregs of society that only ran because of the money and the perks which on their own,could’nt have reached these monetary hieghts.
Transparent public scrutiny will be 50 times more effective than an audit by external auditors who get reappointed if they find “nothing to see here folks – move along.”
Audit. And when the Cons whine that they will be subjected to MSM scutiny more than the 62 Percenters, audit the MSM clowns to see who got their lunch and bar bill paid for by which MP.
This is a tempest in a teapot. Most MP expenses are, just as in private industry, restricted by regulations. The great bulk of the famous “$500,000,000” that receives so much publicity is for office rental and staff salaries. There’s some scope for chiseling and some MPs would probably be embarrassed by having their chippy cheapness revealed (keeping track of every little lunch purchased while travelling, for example). The AG has much bigger fish to fry, and I’m surprised that she opened this up.
