  1. Heh he, Typical beltline racketeering by the DC oligarchy. Who holds the emission credit brokering function, Goldman Sachs?
You just know if this cash grab works they’ll extend it to personal emissions. I just hope Americans wake up in time they have a government and finance sector that has been hijacked by criminals.

  2. “Personal emmissions”…hmmmmm.
One could have a bit of fun with that “issue”.

  3. “One could have a bit of fun with that “issue”.”
Well Paul, maybe it won’t happen that fast. Everything the emissions sniffers go after is incremental. I suspect they’ll go after cows and sheep and house pets first first. Pay your sin tax for your doggy emissions, Gaia loves you, have a nice day! 😉

  4. My dad always said, “damn politicians, they’d tax the air we breathe if they could get away with it”.

  5. Protecting the Consumers
“From day one, TWO-THIRDS of revenues not dedicated to reducing our deficit are rebated back to the customer…”
In the very first sentence I find “double-talk”, unbelievable! How much “revenue” is going to the deficit? How does paying the deficit reduce greenhouse gases? Two-thirds of how much?
This will be interesting, but I’m putting the odds at 3:1 the Dems pass Cap’n Trade.

  6. Pete .As ridiculous as it must have seemed your DAD was on the right track.Truth is they want to tax our emissions from both ends.

  7. So I just get up this morning, check out SDA and immediately get put back to sleep reading the summary. It’s going to be hard getting going again today. Blah Blah Blah….

  8. So I get up this morning and check out SDA. Click on the link and start reading the summary of the bill and am immediately put back to sleep. Going to be hard getting going again today. Just more blah blah blah. They should figure out a way to tax all the crap coming out of congress. It would wipe out the debt of every country in the world.

  9. Indiana Homez; “From day one, TWO-THIRDS of revenues not dedicated to reducing our deficit are rebated back to the customer…”
You’ve got the emphasis on the wrong part; TWO-THIRDS of revenues NOT DEDICATED to reducing our deficit, is the punchline. Remember the years we spent, up here, paying down the National debt/deficit during the 80’s and 90’s ?! Wasn’t the political catchphrase “…a little bit of pain”? As I recall it wasn’t the politicians doing the bleeding.
Basically, 2/3 of nothing is nothing. The other way of looking at it is 2/3 of double what they’re paying now…before the deficit paydown deduction.

  10. Thanks Dano.
I did notice a LACK of emphasis on AGW in the bill and more a focus on foreign policy and fiscal management. The key in my view to defeating the Carbon tax is communicating the fact that this is a tax increase to pay for the governments largess, not to save the planet for your children; but, it ain’t going to happen.

  11. Folks; let’s not forget Harper has vowed to copy this bill in Canada if it passes in the US.
If he does, he shouldn’t expect to get my vote next time.

  12. I will assume that the architects of this bill traveled around the world, found out what doesn’t work and will now attempt to implement every one of those failed programs – cap n’trade , wealth redistribution, increased entitlement programs, crony capitalism, expanded bureaucracy, reduced standard of living, skyrocketing energy costs with zero environmental benefit, fraudulent ETS, etc.
Brilliant. I’ll bet they’re all Ivy league graduates.

  13. Bill
Although we’ve had this discussion ad nauseam; what’s Harper to do? The blow to Canada’s economy will be much greater if we abstain and the aforementioned scenario plays-out. Then, the Harper government will pay the price, and rightfully so, at the polls for not acting to preserve the Canadian export economy.
Furthermore, the Harper government gains absolutely nothing politically moving forward with the Carbon tax. Central Canadians will me unmoved by the “progressive” step, and the west will loathe the Conservatives for doing so; therefore, it’s a lose-lose situation. The only silver lining for the government will be preserving Canada’s place in the market; and THAT will have to satisfy conservatives like you and myself. As I said in 2008 “politically, this issue is settled in Canada.”.
    Cue Hardboiled…

  14. The way I see it OBOZO would punish Canada trade wise if Canada doesn’t mirror this insanity.
That would breach NAFTA—-and we could shut off the taps.
Before somebody points out we don’t have alternative markets in place…remember the effects on the US of instant no oil, NG, or Hydro would be instant.
The result would be civil warm, sensible negotiation and/or invasion…..any one or combination would destroy OBONGO and his crew.

  15. This is all people need to know about the politicians Cap and Trade proposal in a nutshell…if it moves tax it.

  16. It might be wise to invest in body Bags….A civil war is the only solution to this Global Communism..When Pll start dropping, the turds will start running….

  17. Power Act?
Hmmmm . . . sorta brings to mind Canada’s Power Corps, doesn’t it? Power Corps – like Bijien’s advisor, Canadian One World Governance advocate from way back, Maurice Strong, Big UN man (remember the Food for Oil scandal that he escaped before taking up residence with the Chinese, who are now being praised for their state/capitalism economics control that Obama seems to be all-too willing to jump into). Power Corps, the Demarais Family, Jean Chretien and Bob Rae, among other Canadian left-wing political robbers of taxpayer wealth. And now it looks like they (the Chinese) are bent on getting into a controlling position with the Oilsands, with pipeliners Enbridge Inc., CEO Pat Daniel (a former Encana board member) lobbying for a Canadian Cap’nTrade — with a twist. Daniel wants Canadian Taxpayers to pay the Carbon Tax to pay for Enbridge’s Oilsands/Gateway pipeline that would feed Oilsands oil to Asia (China). Please tell me there isn’t a connection of Pat Daniel, Enbridge Inc., Maurice Strong’s China and Canada’s Power Corps. I’d be shocked, I tell you, SHOCKED!
