  1. If he is a lawyer and he made such a claim, wouldn’t there have been some sort of statute or at very least, a violation of a law societies code of ethics?
Oh wait, lawyer + ethics = false

  2. The reason that there was no effort to do any fact checking Sarah Palin and/or her family were not positively affected by this story. /sarc off

  3. Actually, I suspect when Conrad Black is vindicated by the US Supreme Court later this June, that Conrad may wind up as publisher of the New York Times thereby restoring it to a decent and believable rag.

  4. Read nothing and you will be uninformed.
Read newspapers and you will be misinformed.
Read worthy blogs and you will be informed.
I see this on a daily basis. Friends and acquaintances are starting to realize it also – Big Time !

  5. Kathy, do you really think the fat lady will be singing for the Grey Lady? I really hope you’re right.
I just don’t think that such an important piece of the Left’s Ministry of Truth (and related rags, such as the LA Times, et. al.) will be allowed by The Usual Suspects to slip under the waves without a mighty effort, heavily involving tax dollars.

  6. Yeah, I think Kathy is partially wrong, the NYT as we know, it will go under.
But that “brand” is far too valuable to not be grabbed up by some enterprising soul.
The question becomes who gets it: doesn’t really matter, a NYT that is outright Guardian -lefty, or some what, but outwardly, right of centre would work for me.
How I would love to see it be come outright right-of-center, though.

Too many Liberals in the NYC area, it’s primary distribution target market.
Any conservative would want an economically viable business.

  8. The bloody-hells (Brits) has an expression for this…..
“GETTING HOISTED ON THEIR OWN PETARD”.

  9. To kathy’s prediction:
    Remember life magazine?
    How about Polaroid?
Nothing is permanent in this world.
The New York Times ownershiphas yet to figure that out.

Oz, the New York Post is doing very well. You could call it a center-right newspaper. The Post does a pretty good job at what The Usual Suspect leftist papers don’t, namely keep the editorializing to the editorial page and report all the facts in a pretty unbiased manner.

  11. Agreed Dave in Pa.
So the NY Post has that market sewed up and the NY Time’s would be struggling against a reputation as a Liberal rag, lose it’s existing hardcore Liberal client base, and bleed red ink in an attempt to shave loyal customers off from the NY Post’s target market.

  12. Not trying to be picky here Gord, but Life Magazine isn’t a magazine any more, whereas Polaroid is in fact still a camera company.
You do make a good point however, if a business gets stuck in a model and expect the world to adapt to your way of doing business the operation will perish. (hello GM are you listening? Didn’t think so.)

  13. The NYTimes has become the Marxist dumping ground for leftist loser “journalists” for years.
Nothing as has been said, is forever. Even Blogs will have their rivals in the future. Unlike the Marxists though Conservatives are used to being flexible. So some form will survive & spread. Doing with what they have. Not being given a gravy plate to public monies.
The NYT will fade away soon enough. There won’t be enough money left in OBama’s Zimbabwe -America.

  14. I had a good laugh at that …
Another huge joke on the NYTs and others of the dead dino media was heard this week. With the introduction of the IPad … it seems that most of these clueless wonders are banking on selling their product through applications for the tablet device.
As if anyone is going to waste their money and digital bandwidth buying a subscription service just because it’s going to send the crap to your IPad!
    These people are morons.

  15. Another Leftard lawyer discovers the Truth about the MSM the hard way.
Well, at least he had wit enough to do the experiment. Whether he ignores his own lyin’ eyes, time will no doubt tell.
Me, I figure if it walks, swims and smells like a duck… chances are its a duck and not a lawyer in a duck suit.
