  1. Further proof conservatives are stupid:
The most popular person in the Racist Right-Wing Blogosphere is a black professor.

  2. Ahhhhhhh yes. And Still(a)DickHead shows up to show the tolerant lefts POV.Whatsamatter? That BLACK TOTUS not working out for ya???

  3. SDH, not surprising at all, the right wing has a history of supporting Black, for example ……Republicans fought slavery, left encouraged it. Check your history, education could be beneficial in your case.

  4. Perhaps I should have have used an emoticon; I didn’t think the clientele here was humour challenged.
Of course, it could also be I’m not nearly as witty as I think.
FWIW, Professor Sowell is the public figure with whom I would say I am most ideologically aligned.

  5. Placements fell about where I thought they would, but apparently they ain’t right good with that math stuff.
Sowell was number one at 80, but the break down shows him at 99 if they actually add like + Strongly like as the chart says.

  6. It’s a rounding error AtlanticJim:
“Keep in mind that because of the way the program that tabulates the results works, the percentages don’t add up to 100% for each person.”
Sowell got 80/80, as he should. His web page can be found here:
    http://www.tsowell.com/
Well worth reading; it contains an archive of his columns.

  7. Sowell at #1 is encouraging but Ron Paul not making the top ten suggests a good many “right-of-center” bloggers are not actually traditional conservatives, rather big-government neo-Conservatives.
I suggest the same dilution of conservatism is occurring in Canada as the proverbial political Center drifts evermore Left.

  8. Good to see Sowell at 82.5% strongly liked and 17.5% liked.
Likely there were 17.5% of the bloggers that didn’t respond with “strongly like” to any of the names.

  9. The O’Reilly vote surprised me. Don’t ratings rank his show as the most watched of its type on cable news? If the right doesn’t like him, where are those viewers coming from?

  10. I shake my head that “conservatives” think so poorly of Ron Paul! But then again, the Repubs don’t get the Libertarian mindset, a little too much free thinking going on there!

  11. You mean a faux conservative? Yeah, many conservatives believe that to be true of the majority of the RNC. 🙂
You know, kinda like I consider the majority of CPC MPs to be blue Liberals, i.e. not really conservative…..

  12. Coulter to the right is akin to Jon Stewart on the left.
One of my favourite political shows is the McLaughlin Group. Pat Buchanan and Mort Zuckerman are tops. I don’t care which side they’re assumed to be on. They’re honest.
Anything I’ve seen of Bill O’Reilly reinforces my opinion that he is a schmuck.

The conservative Texans I’ve met on the ‘net tend to think highly of Ron Paul, who accurately pointed to the Federal Reserve as shady and in need of an audit.

  14. I am surprised at O’Reilly’s ratings. He is honest, fair and has a great show. If you’ve read his books, he also has his head on straight re: culture and the world. When I first watched him, I thought he was arrogant, but I PVR his show every night now.
Why do you say he is a “schmuck”, chutzpahticular?

  15. Like glacierman and Mark P., I’m quite surprised at all the Ron Paul haters. The guy’s a former OB/GYN who’s vehemently opposed to abortion, a strong believer in the Constitution which Bambam, Bush II, and others have run roughshod over, and an advocate of strong, sound money and not the printing presses that Helicopter Ben and the Safecracker are so fond of. What’s not to like?

  16. O’Reilly is a pro big government, anti-business moron.
No idea where his ratings come from.

  17. O’Reilly has spouted ignorance about Canada; his ego is gargantuan. That said, I don’t get Fox News, and have seen him interviewed on CNN, etc.

The Fed is not shady, they are EVIL! Take some blood pressure medication and read Ron’s book, “End the Fed” and you will have a very interesting read.
Not sure if you know how twisted and incestuous this group is, but the great grandson of one of the co-conspirators has just married one of Al Gore’s daughters. Follow the money and it all leads back to Jeckyl Island where the genesis of the Fed and IMF and all the ilk did their incantations and cooked up this mess we are now in.

  19. Thomas Sowell is a good choice. He is impressive.
A very bright man. When he said that if all Obama
did was to wreck the US economy, he, Thomas Sowell,
would be relieved, I thought that it was hyperbole.
But Sowell understood Obaba’s gifts for disunity and
strife before they became generally evident. Wow!

  20. Kevin — Where a lot of neos step off the Ron Paul policy train is at the military stop. Aligning himself with the Constitution, Paul is very defense oriented on military policy. He’d pull the troops out of AFG and Iraq in a hurry if elected.
He is also pro legal immigration. He’d put a crimp on illegal immigration in a hurry and use all means necessary to stop the influx of illegals across insecure borders.
Immigration and the military. Two areas where many “conservatives” break ranks with Paul.

  21. glacierman, thanks for the info’ and advice! From what I’ve read, I agree with your take on the Fed.

  22. For those of you who are surprised by Bill O’Reilly’s ratings, check out:

He’s actually not a very nice guy, by the looks of it.
Someone I used to really like and trust is David Brooks. But I’m afraid he’s drunk the Obama Kool Aid and has been much too easy on the Obamessiah since he was elected.
    How come Kate/SDA wasn’t consulted?

  23. Odd looking poll. It’s like no tea party, constitutionalist republicans or libertarian conservatives voted at all just the imperialist federalists or big government GOP types.
Most of the highly approved hawk conservatives espouse simplistic war=good economy policies. I think there were more chicken hawk DEms voting in this than real republicans.

  24. I’ve said it before, Bill O’Reilly is NOT a conservative. He takes “Fair and Balanced” to the point where he’ll deny his nose despite his face. That said, “The Factor” is the only show in its genre that I try to watch regularly. It truly is an interesting and excellent show regardless of the fact I’m at odds with him on many social issues.

  25. I like O’Reilly well enough, but I find his lack of research to be frustrating at time. The rants about oil industry speculators are particularly embarrassing.

  26. As an intense admirer of the Jews, I am irritated by Buchanan’s indifference to, if not outright hostility toward, Israel. Ditto for his dismissal of Churchill as a “warmonger” and his apparent belief that Hitler could have been accommodated. Other than that, I generally agree with him. I know that last sentence of mine might sound facetious, but I don’t mean it that way. I think Buchanan is an astute, though possibly anti-Semitic, patriot who cherishes Western civilization, particularly its Anglo-Saxon component.

  27. Indiana Homez, O’Reilly doesn’t consider himself a Conservative, he specifically states he’s a Traditionalist.
Part (most?) of reason Conservatives don’t like Paul is that he’s very much a Constitutionalist,
and the puts him at odds with the Pax Americana crowd, which is the only part of progressiveness that I’m in complete agreement with.
While I find a lot to like and respect about Bush, McCain, Powell, Romney, Frum et al., they are really Progressives,
not Conservatives, and certainly not Libertarian.

  28. SDH
I never accused him of being a conservative, and I don’t judge; I’m simply challenging the left’s assertion that he is a conservative.
“The rants about oil industry speculators are particularly embarrassing.”
You got that right! And that’s just for starters. O’Reilly’s position on many pop-culture issues is right out of the “No Clue Zone”.

  29. Frustratingly abbreviated list.
    No steyn
    no krauthammer
    no Hugh Hewitt
    no bill Bennett
    no Dennis prager
    was rush on the list?
Ps- O’reilly is a pretty straight shooter. Bombast is part of his schtick and is sells so who are we to judge. Sure he’s poor in some of his research but it is an extremely wide-ranging program so that can be excused. He is by no means a conservative and at times when interviewing a real heavyweight like clinton or Obama he pulls his punches – like many of his background he is deferential to authority.
Pps- mort zuckerman voted for Obama and thus should by default be ineligible for this list.

  30. I made up this poll but betcha it’s true:
My favourite Canadian conservative commentator is
    Mark Steyn 15%
    Ezra Levant 15%
    Kate McMillan 15%
    Blazing Cat Fur 15%
    Jay Currie 15%
    Connie Fournier 15%
    Five Feet of Fury 15%
    Peter O’Donnell -5%
    Total 100%

  31. I watch O’Reilly regularly. I used to like him—a lot. (I actually had a “pithy comment”—I like such comments!—featured on his show.) But he’s proven himself to be a dissembler of the first order. E.g., All too often, he’s still willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt: even now, he demurs at labelling Obama a “socialist”. Huh?
I don’t trust Bill O’Reilly. He says, “The spin stops here”, while spinning almost all the issues all the time. He bullies his contributors—who, I figure, get big bucks to take his insults with a smile. IMO, the really fine Laura Ingraham takes him on the most. She intelligently and firmly holds the conservative line and doesn’t let O’Reilly sideswipe her. Bernie Goldberg, Dennis Miller, Glenn Beck, and Megyn Kelly also seem to hold their own pretty well.
I’m pleased to see that the conservatives polled in this survey share my view of O’Reilly (49% disapproval rating). So, it’s not just me! I’m really disappointed that he’s a dissembler, when we really need men like him to stand firm and tall.

  32. I too was surprised of the low opinion of Ron Paul who I was hoping would have gotten the Republican presidential nomination (I can dream, can’t I?) He’s one of the very few politicians I have any respect for and I can’t imagine him doing a worse job than the big zero as POTUS.
    No disagreement about Thomas Sowell.
Why Ron Paul seems to be so unpopular is unclear to me but, one of the few times I’ve talked politics with other doctors at a dinner meeting I did mention my preference for Ron Paul to be president to the Obama-hating group I was sitting with. I don’t think I could have gotten a more negative reaction if I had said I supported doctors pay being cut by 80% because they’re overpaid. Unfortunately while a lot of doctors may be conservatives the number of libertarian physicians is miniscule. I guess everyone in the local medical community now knows I’m Libertarian.
Pat Buchanan is another isolationist who seems to be an on anti-Israel kick these days but he’s also a strong constitutionalist. I used to subscribe to his magazine American Conservative which was the antithesis of tax and spend big-government Republicans. He does think for himself unlike Arnold who should have stuck to his movie role as the Terminator.

  33. RE: Bill O’Reilly…I stand by that he is fair and balanced. He pushes his interviewees to answer the question, that’s good journalism, not bullying.
I agree, on a few issues he lacks research, but his show spans a wide range of news per night.
He has his morals and beliefs and sticks to them.
Who cares if personally he is not a “nice” person..he brings the news in a balanced way, thus doing his job.
I think he doesn’t come off as standing “firm and tall” because he acts as a voice..he gets others to state what is going on, pushing for the truth from others, mostly keeping his personal opinion out of it, with exception to touchy subjects close to his heart.
Haha, sorry guys, I heart Bill..I think he’s great.

  34. ME, I don’t mind at all that you like Bill, no matter what . . . it’s sort of a free country.
But, “I heart Bill”? Now THAT’S offensive! Has no one informed you that “heart” is a noun, NOT a verb? (I know you’re just parroting what you’ve experienced.)
Good Lord, deliver us from sloppy language, which is the beginning of sloppy thinking, which is the beginning of . . . all hell breaking loose.
That seems to be about where we are these days.
