Thanks for this reminder. Wow. I remember that day, how sad I felt hearing about her death. I dont recall knowing that her kids were so young at the time; wouldve made it that much harder. I wonder how the past ten years have been for the family.

Awww, I was thinking about her while watching the women’s final game at the Olympics! Hope her children and husband are doing well! The girls were just teeny tiny when she passed away, so sad!
Wondeful lady who left us much too soon. I too thought of her while watching the womens final. Watching the video is a good reminder to live life to the full in the moment we’re in.

cal2, you’re missing the whole story. Sandra Schmirler was the real deal. It wasn’t “a game”. She was a genuine Saskatchewan heroine. When we mourned her (and I think we all did) we were also mourning because she left a *very* young family. Please, some respect.
