November 7, 2009Toronto Humane Society wants rodeo banned – Officials argue it is unethical and inhumane
November 28, 2009An inside look at the Toronto Humane Society revealed a place where neglected animals lived and died in terrible pain and feral cats roamed free in the basement and between walls, one dying a slow death in a trap.

  1. The harm that do-gooders do.
Makes me think of the evangelists who have their fingers in both the till and the converted.
    You can depend on it.

  2. Every local financial backer/member of this wretched cultish group should be jointly charged with cruelty. They enabled the evil and were happy to vote for and support its perpetrators.

  3. According to City news last evening, the board voted to use donated funds to pay legal advice/lawyers for those charged.
    Unbelievable.

  4. What kind of a world is this?
An accompanying article stated that the dog, that attacked one of the arresting officers, had attacked a child before-200 stitches, but of course this idiot would trap him in an office and call it a misunderstood pet.
After the animal had been ordered to be put down.

“That attack, in August 2003, drew widespread attention and was one of a series involving pit bulls in the city, which prompted then-attorney general Michael Bryant to ban the dogs the following year.”
Heh, maybe they can be cell mates.

  5. People who hurt childern or animals – any being which is defenceless, should be put away for life.

  6. Since they’re always telling me what a terrible person I am for keeping livestock in a modern barn a couple of years ago I toured the Winnipeg Humane society and was appalled by what I saw. Although not overly surprised.
The animals on my farm are assets and profit centers. There is an incentive, beyond the warm fuzzies, for me to treat them well, because the more comfortable they are the more money they make me.
For humane societies though every animal in their care is another liability. It’s just another noisy, defecating, mouth to feed which takes up space and costs them money that they have to guilt out of another kindly old lady or naive teenager.

  7. Down under in Oz, the sheep ate the data.
    The revelations are astounding:
“”There’s not very much passed out the animal’s anus at all,” he said.”
    Call the white coats.

Australia’s answer to global warming – breed a burp free sheep
    Anne Barrowclough in Sydney
The Australian Government’s plans to enact a law for an emissions trading scheme are in chaos and the opposition Liberal party is in meltdown over the climate change legislation. But Australian scientists have their own cunning plan to stop global warming – breed a sheep that doesn’t burp.
Farting cows and sheep have been blamed for most of the methane emissions that have helped take Australia to the top of the world’s carbon footprint league table. Around 12 per cent of the country’s total greenhouse gas emissions originate with agriculture, and 70 per cent of that amount is made up of methane, which has 17 times the environmental warming capacity of carbon dioxide.
But scientists now say the wrong end of the animal has been blamed for the methane outpourings.
“90 per cent of the methane that sheep and cattle and goats produce comes from the rumen, and that’s burped out,” said John Goopy from the New South Wales Department of Industry and Investment who is leading the study into burping sheep.
“There’s not very much passed out the animal’s anus at all,” he said.” (more)

  8. More Hard-Left hypocrisy. They decry violence against women at home, but pretend there’s no such thing in the Islamic world. Same as for “homophobia” at home, especially violence against gays, but pretend that the Iranians don’t literally hang ’em high when they’re outed, and don’t want to talk about Uganda throwing ’em in jail for life…
The list of glaring juxtapositions is endless.
Now we see ’em saying that others can’t own animals, ’cause it’s “inhumane”, but we catch ’em actually being inhumane towards animals in their “care”.
    Can’t trust Leftists, period.

  9. Barbara @ 10:40 a.m. Not so unbelievable, really. The board, being an incorporated entity, has been charged as such, and not as individuals. As a corporate body, the board carries liability protection, paid for out of its revenue. Why that protection wouldn’t be extended to the board’s employees, for whom the board is ultimately responsible, without a formal vote, mystifies me. Maybe it’s a quirk of Ontario incorporation law; I don’t know. Anyway, the board, as part of its responsibilities, has an obligation to defend its employees, and to await the revelation of the evidence against them in the courts.

  10. I’ve said this since 1987 when I did a stint in the Bell Canada Hamilton office. 1 asshole at the top will wipe out the good work of everyone else in an organization. it’s also true in politics. apparently more so in Canadian politics.

  11. Farmer Joe: ” … [the animal’s] just another noisy, defecating, mouth to feed which takes up space and costs them money …”
… got me thinking. I wonder what these guys were doing with the money donated to the Toronto Humane Society? ‘Better check their bank accounts. Who had oversight of the THS finances? ‘No doubt the appalling board members who have earmarked funds for the legal defence of the arrested officials. ‘Better check their bank accounts too.
In a devilish, stark-staringly bizerk world where everything is inverted, who are the animals, anyway? (I mean no disrespect to our four-footed friends.)

  12. Yeah, when PETA in Virginia I believe, has the highest rate of putting animals down, I tend to check out my humane charities closer than before. Just because humane is on the letterhead doesn’t mean it’s so.

  13. I emailed a friend asking what’s up with the Tranna Humane Society.
    Her response:
“It is all true. The rescue community and the other Humane Societies are all jumping for joy.
T** T** and his crowd have been rakiing in money and maunipulating figures and votes for years…maybe decades..
They want to be the shelter with the least euthanisation rates, which they have, in North America. To do that they let sick and dieing animals die “natural” without a needle. so they can check off “died” instead of “put to sleep”. So many animals suffered.
Last year the paper did an investigation and took statements from the vets who had quit, voluntees who were fired for speaking up, and rescue groups, like me, who had bad dealing s with them and quesioned thier ethics.
We are soooo happy! Yeah Yeah Yeah!!!
All the money spent on advertising, calendars, TV spots etc. could have gone to help the animals….
Be responsible and spay/neuter your pet.
