  1. It’s difficult to take Ibbitson serious. I thought earlier he had some charm and brought some interesting anaysis to bear. But I remember him having a complete breakdown, on TVO if i recall – just came apart at the seams when the ADQ came in second in the quebec elections a while back. If you didn’t know better you would have thought the 3rd reich had made a comeback.

  2. Mark, don’t you know that not voting for a Liberal government is racist? And since the Liberals are polling so badly, all good liberals must do everything they can to rectify that situation. So add more ridings where the Liberals are bound to get the majority of votes! We need Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver to represent 80% of Canada!

Well said ‘pete’. That has been the problem for years. Polarize these and you win control of government.

  4. Ibbitson does have contempt for Canadians, but people can redeem themselves by moving to those three urban areas. It also explains his fetish for immigration – it’s not just about getting more people, one gets the idea he considers them better people simply because they weren’t born here and they eat exotic food.
He reminds me of a character from a P G Wodehouse novel, a bumbling fool who shouldn’t be taken seriously .

  5. Please do not read further if you might be offended as I am about to make a horrible, racist, homophobic, intolerant statemetn: Can we treat people…equally?
I know that is absolutely anathema to the liberal that lives by categorising and dividing but I was told that people should be treated as you would have them treat you.
What is wrong with a voter in Ontario be treated the same as a voter in Manitoba the same as New Brunswick the same as Albert the same as PEI etc?
The liberal belief in divide and conquer, bribe, steal, cheat, cajole, favour in the never ending quest for the ultimate goal;power, will be offended. But normal human beings might actually be able to get along better? Maybe? Perhaps?

  6. John Ibbitson is just more living proof that the only thing in this world stupider than a White Liberal Woman is a White Liberal Man.

  7. Chris in the Bridge said “Can we treat people…equally?”
No. Equality is racist. We have The Charter to make sure people don’t get treated equally.

  8. What people like Ibbitson seem to be overlooking is the generational shift happening. I’m within the Vancouver melting pot, and have worked the last three elections, Federal,Provincial and Municipal. The young voters are coming out in droves, and it seems they run 70-80% libertarian conservative, NO MATTER their ethnic background!
The previous gen, in their mid to late twenties are about 40-30-20-10 NDP/Conservative/Liberal/Green, with this trending towards conservative at an almost amazing rate. What may have Ibbitson in a lather, is that there is a lack of ANY movement TO the Federal Liberals. Federally, the liberal base here is static. First gen immigrants, middle aged educrats and bureaucrats, and their children over 30 seems to be it. Their key attribute seems to be greed for power.
The amazing part is that younger sec gen immigrants are trending just as libertarian/conservative as the multigenerational young voters.
What the Conservatives must do, is to reach out to the smartest people in the blogosphere, no matter what party they currently espouse. Smart people can be reasoned with, stupid people just waste your time.

  9. Thanks Gord, Now I feel really stupid. I forgot that the grand vision of trudeaupia says that people can be discriminated against to achieve “the greater good”. Most people have not read the decorated toilet paper that is our constitution. When I tell people that in China, you have a right to personal property but in Canada, you have no right to even the shirt on their back, most reply BS. But I challenge them and then they usually admit I’m right.
All are equal, but some are more equal than others

  10. The new boundaries, while more in tune with “racial harmony”, seem to be rather anti-Quebec. I notice with the new proposal, that Quebec is going to get “shafted” in that each of their MPs represents 7,000 more people than anyone else in Canada. Watch the Coalition Three do more twisting than a pretzel to hang more of an anti-Quebec bias on Mr. Harper.

  11. There is no country in the world better than Canada in denying it’s own history, culture and original people than this country. I’m tired of being shit on every day of my life because I am a real Canadian.

  12. Or denying people the education to know how to use the word “it’s” properly, judging by the posters here.
