With Ezra on holidays, I hadn’t really checked his site much, but there was a huge development in the CHRC cases

  2. Just wondering if any Tamils are still protesting in any other city as they are here in Montreal. They haven’t stopped all summer outside the U.S. embassy, though there is just a hard core there now.

eric: if the driving technique of the linked site is ‘always hard right’ then it’s ok at sda.

  4. Well, curious_george, it’s a pretty lonely existence on the right these days. It’s sure not viewed as a “cool” political affiliation by many people.
Socialism, or communism (my understanding is the difference isn’t really that great, one could say that the latter arises in pre-industrial societies, the former post-industrial) has its benefits in certain situations.
I remember watching “the World at War” series. In one of the episodes, a British POW from the Japanese prison camps told of their constant privation. Anything they had, anything they scrounged, they shared equally. He said it was almost like communism.
Now, in the heady late 70s, that shocked me. All “communism” is evil, right?? Of course not! In that situation, it was eminently sensible and honourable.
I’m sure communism/socialism is workable if it’s done on a small scale, where technology isn’t a big consideration, composed of a community of like-minded individuals who all work equally hard, are moral and honest, and not exploitative, and are interested in each other’s welfare.
But, that’s not the real world of North America today. And I’m concerned that this constant lean to the left by the US will send them swirling down the vortex. Cheers.

  6. KATE, KATE, KATE, KATE, KATE, KATE, KATE,
I, and I’m sure many other SDA readers would agree, do not which for Small Dead Animal to eventually be victim of “the asteroid” by ignoring a story that simply refuses to go away and now may be on the verge of a ‘deep impact’. The Obama legitimacy to be POTUS as per the US Constitution. A few days ago, a new and MAJOR twist has emerged. This time it’s an alledged CONSPIRACY involving the DNC and Nancy Pelosi.
It has been uncovered by a writer for the CFP, here is the link:

    All leftist-socialist parties/regimes self-destruct.
Here is the exsanguination of Canada’s Liberal party: one word, “Retreat!”, as delivered by weasel Liberal Senator Colin Kenny.

All that remains is an empty, bloodless shell.

    “Ignatieff Unqualified
Filed under: Democratizing the Liberal Party
An Open Letter to those who recruited Ignatieff:
What exactly were you thinking? Why did you think this man was perfectly suited to leading the Liberal Party and Canada? Was it because he is so smart? Because I’m not so sure that he is. He knows how to academically analyze a problem, and that makes him seem smart. But his answers have been wrong so often on the important things that I’m not sure his analysis demonstrates that he really his smart. I guess this analytical side, regardless of the failure it often leads to, combined with Ignatieff’s arrogance leads to this undeniable aura of intelligence. On that I can agree, he has an aura of intelligence. So perhaps it is this aura that you thought could sell. It doesn’t seem to be selling to well, though.
But what about political instincts? Prior to entering politics Ignatieff demonstrated no political instincts at best and at worst very, very bad political instincts (e.g.: repeatedly expressing support for various Bush endeavors). Did you think you could teach someone political instincts? I’ll let you in on a secret, if you could actually learn political instincts then after 10 years in politics someone as bright as Paul Martin Jr. would have picked them up. You can’t teach political instincts.
And what about his total lack of government experience? Never before has the Liberal Party had a leader so lacking in experience with actually governing. And Ignatieff’s lack of experience in this area has yet to be seen. No, if he actually does become PM then we will see this lack of experience play out just as we have seen his lack of political instincts play out over the last six months or more.
The bottom line is that I see very little in Ignatieff that could justify the glee some people had in trying to recruit him to be leader of the Liberal Party. Indeed, it was just about as dumb an idea as one could think of.”

    I-O-Iggy: Narcissist.
*”The “small people”, the “rank and file”, the “loyal soldiers” of the narcissist – his flock, his nation, his employees – they pay the price. The disillusionment and disenchantment are agonizing. The process of reconstruction, of rising from the ashes, of overcoming the trauma of having been deceived, exploited and manipulated – is drawn-out. It is difficult to trust again, to have faith, to love, to be led, to collaborate. Feelings of shame and guilt engulf the erstwhile followers of the narcissist. This is his sole legacy: a massive post-traumatic stress disorder.”

  11. maz2,
There is only one thing that makes sense to me (who has no real political background)…Boob Rae.
‘Ignerof’ was a second choice (not unlike Dion) and the fractured Fiberals have no clear winner to promote. And Rae is not yet trusted (wise move). While any choice would be questionable, there must be a better someone somewhere. I don’t think anyone, with political smarts, would allow themselves to be caught up in the downward spiral.
A Conservative Majority (next time around) will dethrone ‘Ignerof’ (“he wasn’t able to do it” will be the cry) and another will be selected.
Any myth of intellectual superiority, that ‘Iggy’ was trying to project, certainly ebbs everytime he opens his mouth.
Maz2..”What exactly were you thinking?” you asked of those involved. I’m certainly not too sure.

i am 69 years old (a good year) I was born in New Zealand and had my 21st birthday in Antwerp Belgium, (studying petroleum engineering). In 1963 I flew from Europe to NZ, (4 days, now 24 hours). I have worked all my life in the Petroleum Industry, and if a Country has oil I have been there, you never find oil on main street, it’s always in the back of beyond, which gives me a different outlook than 90% of the other people. Weather (not climate) is one of the greatest of our worlds wonders. IT’S LOCAL !
I was in Stavanger Norway and on the tow of the Shell Brent Delta to the Brent field in the Northern North Sea, Shell spent millions and years on weather research before designing these platforms, as the zone has some of the most treacherous seas in the world. The water gap ( the distance from high tide calm water to the underside of the platform ) was designed for the 100 year wave. In the first winter the 100 year wave hit 84 times.
In Siberia winds of 152 km an hour and temp. of -47°C arrived with such precision that we used to run a sweep stake.
”Lightning never strikes twice”, but the top of the oil derrick in the jungle of Sarawak was hit 8 times in 30 minutes.
On an ex whaling mother ship converted into a drill ship (48,000 tonnes) off the coast of Indonesia in a tropical storm with 8 anchors out and in a ‘’storm mode” we where dragged 4 miles off location.
On a jack-up drilling rig on tow from Singapore to Sri Lanka with 2 tugs we went backwards for 24 hours.
In the desert of Saudi Arabia in 1996 with temp. in the mid 30’s C we went down to 18°C and 10 inches of hail in about half an hour.
Now we get politicians (failed lawyers) offering mega $ for research to ”prove” that us humans are in charge of the climate, if these 25-39 IQ ”humans” went and experienced the world, (not visiting the local Hilton) and realized how big our planet is and how small the human presence is we would not be trying to get milk from butterflies.”

    The Great QUASH of 2009
THERE IS SOME SENSE IN THE WORLD! All you fans of freedom, listen up… This week, my legal force successfully led a QUASH on the bullcrap Human Rights case against me. We all knew it was an unjust process (to put a comic on trial for retaliating to hecklers) and now the SUPREME COURT of Canada proved it. The bad news is that the S.C. has remitted the claim back to the HRC; this means, presumably, that a new case could be manufactured against me. Hopefully, wiser minds will prevail and this thing stops NOW. Did you hear the lesbian complainant wanted $40K in damages… to what?? These people have no clue. What about the damage and intolerance they have shown me? Unreal. Anyway, Fans of Freedom; we won the battle today and we can sleep easier knowing comedy is safe, for now, in Canada. Time to get back to the real world. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HELPED WITH SUPPORT AND LOVE (you know who you are).
I’m back in Ontario! Toronto look alive. The B.C. thing is over for now, so, it’s back to work. I’m in Ontario but it was no small feat. We hit a deer in Nipigon, Ontario and barely lived to tell about it. The wonderful folks in Nipigon helped us on our way. (I highly recommend the Grey Rocks Inn; Andrew and Megan are the BEST – and if you want exquisite service and friendliness, head on over to Brennen Ford for your next car purchase… Tell Paul Guy Sent Ya!) Ok. Time to get on with my life… after over two years of limbo, I finally feel some freedom!

    On The Move
West Coast AND Busted! Guy is in the ‘Couve, hunkering down for the fight. This post is coming to you from the shores of Kitsilano. One month from the trial that MUST BE WON for all entertainers in Canada. It’s been a rough ride. Two years ago, I was forced out of clubs by pressure from the Vancouver homosexual community (I aint no homophobe, sigh), so I drove back, cat and caboodle to Toronto. After two years of licking my wounds, I’ve driven BACK across Canada to Vancouver to prepare for the battle. (Undoubtedly, if nuthin sticks on the West Coast, it’s back East after the dust settles from the Tribunal but that is a lifetime away…)

    Latest HRC Trial Info
Yes… It IS true. A comic (me) is actually being taken to the BCHRC for his comebacks to ignorant, rude hecklers. The country is gone to hell. The trial is set for beginning of September, 2009. Folks, THIS IS REAL. It IS NOT a joke. Please help me get the legal services I need and donate on my PAYPAL button below. People don’t think this is real BUT IT IS. I will have to fly to Vancouver in September, this is also quite costly. PLEASE HELP!” (more)
