Which MP said this on Thursday ?:
“Nobody wants to see the stimulus spending end and that’s what an election would do,” she said . “I’ve been hearing that most people just want to get out of this economic downturn and see government roll up its sleeves and get to work.”
A Conservative, right ?
Wrong. It was Jean Crowder, NDP MP for Nanaimo-Cowichan !

It takes a lot for Alan Caruba to advocate rolling up the flag, but he does so regarding U.S. involvement in Afghanistan:
“The Afghanistan quagmire”
Let’s see; tonight on the CBC is the second part of a 2 part series called Guns. All about the terrible gun problem in Canada? Jeez, and here I thought we had a gang/drug problem. Silly me.
And friends tell me last night they played an expose about that crooked Mulroney.
What; are we going to have an election or something? Next they’ll drag out that old movie, starring that over the hill comedian about this big white airplane made in Ontario in the 60’s. You know; the one that was shelved by that double dealing Prime Minister from the West.
On Saturday the Star had a front-page article on women in the workforce. What caught my eye was a comment right at the end from Armine Yalnizyan, of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives to Reality. She said that women have been looking for economic security since time immemorial, “but all we’ve managed to do is settle for economic independence”.
Newsflash: there ain’t no “economic security”. Nothing in life is guaranteed, although Big Handouts from Big Government for the purpose of tricking the hard-working public into allowing half its income to be separated from its own grasp so that an elite of unproductive bureaucrats and socialists can establish itself as phony benefactors can pretty much be counted on to drive a once-prosperous country into bankruptcy, and ruin the lives of millions in the process.
There was an interesting article in the Globe on Saturday about North Korea. The writer, Mark MacKinnon, says the regime’s ideological grip appears to be weakening.
He starts by noting that he inadvertently brought a Lonely Planet guide with him that said the country’s human rights record was the worst on earth. Several of the officials traveling with his party read the book; he believed they weren’t offended but rather that it confirmed their suspicions.
He says that for anyone from NK who has travelled abroad – bureaucrats, diplomats, tour guides – there is an awareness of the country’s massive shortcomings, as they see and crave the luxury goods in the west and other places. Not to mention Hollywood movies and English pop tunes (I presume he means English language). He lent his iPod to several people who enjoyed the music. Even a woman who referred “our hatred of American imperialism” seemed to like Britney Spears songs, and distanced that hatred from the American people.
MacKinnon says he only saw two antiquated tractors, and only one in motion, while he was there. People seemed to work the fields by hoe or spade, or even bare hands.
Once again, I think the regime should be encouraged as far as is humanly possible to admit reality and to cede power voluntarily, perhaps with some kind of Truth and Reconciliation Commission a la South Africa. The heir-designate Kim Jong-Un apparently is a basketball fan and even Kim Jong-Il likes Hollywood movies, so maybe some kind of bribery is in order. It beats daring them to drop their nukes, real or imaginary, or waiting for them to do something else that’s irrational.
My only other comment is that the idea that the regime has an “ideological grip” on the populace seems a bit misplaced, since undoubtedly the public fears rather than respects the authorities in most cases.
Meanwhile, we should have a pool as to when the regime falls … I’ll start it off by picking a very optimistic Mar. 17, 2010.
We should also remember that the goal of the “human rights” industry here is to establish a Stalinist state of similar vein.

“Arctic researcher flees after wolves gorge on bacon
EDMONTON — A University of Alberta researcher was surrounded by wolves, had to cancel her research season and be evacuated from the high Arctic earlier this summer after a pilot with an ecotourism agency left cardboard boxes of bacon and sausage on the tundra near their camp.
The wolves ripped open the boxes of meat and gorged themselves.
Catherine La Farge, who studies the colonies of moss exposed by retreating glaciers, was not attacked during the incident on Ellesmere Island, but she and her field assistant spent three hours cleaning up food and debris strewn across the landscape. Then they were confined to their kitchen tent to guard the leftovers and garbage.
Even banging pots and pans didn’t frighten the wolves off.
“They kept circling,” said La Farge. “It was just so unlike their previous behaviour.”

“Rape and murder stalk South Africa’s playgrounds and classrooms
In one of the biggest but least talked about challenges to President Jacob Zuma’s new government, schools have descended into a spiral of crime that has seen murder and rape in playgrounds and classrooms.
As terrified teachers leave the profession in large numbers, security in schools is being beefed up to include police sniffer dog patrols and hand-held metal detectors. Psychologists are being drafted in to help staff to cope with trauma.
A recent survey in KwaZulu-Natal, Zuma’s home province, revealed there were 11 murders, 280 rapes and more than 2,500 violent assaults in its schools last year. A further 3,000 cases of drug possession were recorded, a pattern repeated across the country.
Alcohol and drug abuse are rampant. In the Free State, bars close to schools were reported to be selling alcohol and drugs to pupils who would often arrive drunk and armed with guns for their classes. The province also reported playground murders and the seizure of ammunition and knives.
Throughout the country there are daily reports of shocking violence. Two 60-year-old women died after they were allegedly doused with petrol and set alight by pupils at Manhlenga high school in Manguzi, KwaZulu-Natal. Reports suggest the children believed the women had cast a spell on them.”

*The Evil Eye:
“The Secret to the Suicidal Liberal Mind”
“Reflect for a moment on the extent to which tribespeople in a tribal, “primitive” culture suffuse their lives with superstition, witchcraft, sorcery, voodoo, “black magic,” the “evil eye.” The world for them is teeming with demons, spirits, ghosts and gods, all of whom are malicious and dangerous — in a word, envious.
A great many, if not the majority, of tribal or traditional cultures, whether in the Amazon, Africa or the Pacific, have no concept of natural death. Death is always murder.”

As if we needed another example of the stupidity and blindness of socialists there was an article in today’s Toronto Sun on migrant workers. Ken Forth is a 6th generation farmer and obviously far more aware of the situation than university professor, Kerry Preibisch, supposedly a specialist in migrant workers or Stan Raper, national co-ordinator of AWA.
Forth points out migrants come each year and because they have no social commitments or family with them work continuously at $10 an hour then go back home. Canadians don’t want these hard 70-80 hours a week jobs when they can collect EI.
Of course the prof and the unionist want their families brought here as it is unjust and restricts their potential immigrant status. Raper naturally wants a higher wage to attract the Canadian workers to this job.
Forth has the real world response in saying his family has sponsored families from Europe to move to Canada since 1927. They all took the first full time job they could get and left the seasonal farm work far behind. As far as wages the major supermarket chains set the price for fruits and vegetables making it impossible to pass the increased cost on to the consumer.
Ending on a happy note just bought my peaches on our annual trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Always the most delicious, juicy and wonderful taste experience of the season!
Sound advice for American (and Canadian) school children from a President who understood his job.

CTV Poll Result
Do the new Liberal Party ads improve Ignatieff’s image?
Yes 228 votes (20 %)
No 921 votes (80 %)
Total Votes: 1149
another poll going south….
At first glance Iggy looks like one of the prawns in the new movie District 9
Good points Maz2, and seemingly, the truth. S. Africa is one of the most violent countries in the world. Now a young white South African who has claimed refugee status here, because of supposed racist attacks in S.A. has in turn brought “racism”
accusations against Canada (and by extension the Conservative policies of this country) for giving his claim some credence. Also, there are dozens of white S.A. doctors who have immigrated to Canada, and who tell you privately that they are terrified of catching AIDS which is rampant in those parts be-
cause, in part of that government’s refusal to accept modern medical theory and treatments for the disease.
Regarding the CTV poll on Iggy and other such PR pieces; it is just such polls that I think should be responded to in a PRO-Iggy way. Let them keep spending money on ads that don’t work, bolster their view that there should be an election and that Iggy will win. In short, run a ‘false-flag’ campaign wherever possible. We want them to go along the path we would like, not down a path which gains them public support.
I think we need as many conservative voters involved as possible to join in.
Your thoughts?

“Yes. We Can Do Butter.”

Glenn Beck’s statement on Van Jones’ resignation:
“The American people stood up and demanded answers. Instead of providing them, the Administration had Jones resign under cover of darkness. I continue to be amazed by the power of everyday Americans to initiate change in our government through honest questioning, and judging by the other radicals in the administration, I expect that questioning to continue for the foreseeable future.”
