  5. You know, I used to criticize the media, but no more. All I need to know now is, where do I get my panic-helmet?
    We’re not safe, I’m afraid, and furthermore we’re the first generation who recognize how important we…I mean, how unsafe we are, which leaves us with only one option: ignore the sideline markers, and the limits of the stadium, and run with that ball, baby. Run like the wind. For the sake of our dignity. Because shit doesn’t have to happen.

  7. Can’t remember the details, but there was a study done a while ago in Britain about intergenerational “wandering limits”. Four generations ago, it was a mile, three generations ago, less, two, a city block, and now, the backyard.
    At age 2 I was set free to explore our Saskatoon neighbourhood. Nothing bad happened, there was a critical mass of kids out on the street, so we all hung out together. We dropped in at various neighbour’s places where we were fed and watered, etc. We went home when we heard our names yelled out, or at darkness. I still remember my mom following me when I rode my bike, age 6, to the public library. She trailed a few blocks behind. I was incensed! How dare she! I was six!
    It was an awesome childhood.
    My kids are currently both under house arrest. I don’t feel good about it, but the streets are devoid of children. I still remember the day I first let them out of my sight – they were OLD.
    Pretty sad actually.

  14. Is it a lack of real reporters or is there a new generation of reporters conditioned to be lethargically uninterested in official corruption?
    Is it just that fluffy bunny stories sooth the grazing sheep while their boss (the wolf) tears other sheep in the herd to shreds in a virtual media black out?
    With over a decade of the most corrupt mob and patronage networked federal regiime Canada has ever suffered under out of power, you would think there would be a retro scandal-crime a week surface in the news media. But in summer recess we see fluffy bunny stories and pre election partisan cheerleading.
    If you don’t hear about it in the MSM it never happened, right? That’s the prime directive of government controlled corporate media.
    Soon they will regulate and litigate the internet into the same lack of curiosity in official corruption.

    The internet is in the crosshairs of governments for sure.
    Sadly the likes of Google get into bed with corrupt regimes like communist China, but beware of even supposed “free speech” countries like Canada.
    Canada has had decades of complicit MSM but now the internet as it currently exists is challenge for corruption to rotten administrations.

  18. Speaking of Journalist, I think this Canadian one is in need of some insight.

  19. This is odd, a new poll is out and the so called CBC isn’t running any stories about a fall election.
    In fact there is no mention of the poll on their website at all.
    Could it be because the numbers show the Conservatives with a large lead?
    When the liberals show a lead or get close they keep the story on the website for days.
    Perhaps if we gave them another billion dollars a year they would be able to hire enough journalists to cover both sides of the story.

  20. The cbc’s unofficial policy is that a story is deemed newsworthy if it A; denigrates the conservatives, B; portrays the liberals positively. This poll does not meet either criteria,therefore it is not newsworthy.

    That’s the Vancouver Sun for ya. I too read that column this morning and it’s for that very reason I cancelled my subscription to the Sun about 9 years ago.
    Believe it or not, Barbara Yaffe (and Norman Spector) was one of the best in that whole communist rag…sad. Other than the occasional column here and there by Vaughan Palmer or Fazil Mihlar, the entire cumbersome mess was good for starting fires and precious little else.
