The Montreal Gazette headline screams!* – Tim Hortons In Damage Control Mode
Canada’s coffee giant has served up some controversy south of the border after a regional Tim Hortons office in Rhode Island agreed to sponsor a rally hosted by an anti-gay-marriage organization.
I’m too busy at the moment to drive to town to witness the corporate destruction for myself, . but I figure lots of you out there have camera phones. Let the damage reports roll in….
(*So, it doesn’t exactly scream, but not since the Cudworth Mud Hen Murders has such a non-story gone national, so work with me…)

I’d say it would be the right thing to cancel the sponsorship. But it was probably an honest mistake. Who really cares?

I’m relieved to hear someone out there not kow-towing to a small yet very vocal and flamboyant special-interest group.
That being said, if someone doesn’t like what a PRIVATE group does, don’t go in for it.

Is Tim Horton’s actually still Canadian? I thought they were a sub of Wendy’s of Ohio. Anyway, you cannot be famous for “double cream-double sugar” AND be famous for good coffee. Grumble, grouch…

Actually they recently moved their HQ back to Canadian soil, citing lower corporate tax rates. Take that Layton!
It must be in reference to my switch to McD’s coffee shortly after they gave it away for free a few months back and subsequently snagged me as a customer.
As I always say, headline writing is always given to the biggest tools at the newspaper.

“first assistant coffee quality editor” marc in calgary reporting from… just north of said metropolis, in Airdrie at the north Tim’s location, all (both?) types of coffee were still being served by happy Tim’s employees as of 3 pm today. No precautionary indications were taken by me or “brother in law Kevin”. We simply ambled in and asked for our normals, a large double cream, and a large black for me. I often ask for “a black”, but I digress… both of which were promptly served up by, er… a very normal and attractive Tim’s employee. At this time in the afternoon, both cups of coffee were reported to be “fresh”.
I did manage to photograph a suspicious looking vehicle in the parking lot, a small import vehicle with moose antlers mounted in front, although I have nothing further to report on this issue. really.

I enjoy how nearly all news stories refer to it as “sponsoring”, as if Tim Horton’s was bank-rolling the entire event. They were providing a few dozen litres of free coffee.

Joe Citizen relax. I am not sure who you are referring to. Politics aside, responsible people do not do what these three did. The fact that this story was national because most MSM have nothing better to do nor have the gonads or marbles to write something intelligent in an unbiased big city way in order to denigrate rural Canada.
The Timmy’s story is similar in some ways. The agenda must go forward.
I have lived almost all of my fairly long life in rural Canada and never shot anything just for the joy of killing, but sometimes to protect my stock or family pets or to put some poor wild thing out of its misery. Coyotes have recently become so numerous that they are a threat to small children playing outside in our area.
That being said these three goofs needed to be taught a lesson if for no other reason than to show that hunters and firearms enthusiasts are responsible people.
What I do have a problem with is the mild sentence given to a wife beater on the same day in the same city. We have a two tier legal system. The justice part of it is sometimes suspect.
Forget Jack Layton or your “former” Liberal buddies, as if he or they would have their way none of us would have any firearms.

Tim’s supporting the traditional marriage thing in Albert and Saskatchewan would certainly make for more trips to the drive-thru lane by customers but I’m not so sure about Ontariariario and Quepuck – but then who would give a “darn”. Wow – It continues to amaze me that all Americans – regardless of political, religious, or gay marriage view are not outraged by the blatant attack on freedom of speech/expression. Gay marriage has made the inroads it has because of free speech/expression. This is nothing short of extreme hypocrisy. Whatever happened to “your entitled to your opinion” Very sad state of affairs. I refuse to line up for 20 minutes at “Timmy’s” for a cup of coffee. This morning (the first morning I bothered to get out of bed – practice for the book-writing) at 9:30 there were at least 42 people waiting in line for Tim Horton’s service.
Sorry – the coffee’s just not worth that long of a wait. And WTF were all these people doing at 9:30 waiting for coffee? Avoiding work?
I guess Tim doesn’t want to lose those huge numbers of fat, old, baseball-cap-wearing, donut dunking, white-socked elderly gays who park their half tons and frequent the bitter coffee emporiums now do they?
Tim is a spineless flake. It is sad when businesses are considered proper and correct to throw their support behind the annual gay smut parades, but straights who want to show a little pride of their own are pure poison.

Tim Hortons has been expanding our camps for decades for the sole benefit of underprivledged kids.
I would like to add that we have been at it for far longer than it became fashionable to do so.
The Tim Hortons Childrens Foundation that runs and funds these camps are not subject to partisanship whatsoever.
