General Electric has pulled the plug on its Earth Rewards MasterCard program due to lack of interest, ClimateWire reports.
A first-of-its-kind program, card users could set aside 1 percent of the value of their purchases for carbon offset projects.
Meanwhile… congressman Mike Castle (R – Delaware), meets his constituents at a town hall meeting three days after voting in favour of cap and trade. Things get really interesting at about the 4 minute mark.

The West Side fire here in Kelowna is at about 125 acres as of 7PM,PT, there’s a large very dark brown cloud, indicating a HOT fire, hanging over half the town now. All of Glen Rosa subdivision has been evacuated, the Gorman Bros. mill is in danger of going up.
One of our regulars here,I believe lives on that side, and may have been evacuated already.
It’s 32 in the shade right now, with steady winds at roughly 30 km/h.
Who knows why Congressman Mike Castle is a Man-Made-Global-Warming-Believer like Bill O’Reilly.
Perhaps they have different reasons: political pressure for one, ignorance of the science for the other.
In any case, their positions are both disappointing and counterproductive.

There must be a psychological description of the inverted smile seen at around the four minute mark. I remember seeing it a lot from both Rod Blagojevich and Elliot Spitzer during their recent troubles.
It seems to me a very characteristic primitive facial expression, reflective of “I’m guilty, but how will I get myself out of this”
The lesson here for politicians is that they should not simply rely on the MSM’s sheeple herding… there are alternative channels for the people to gain access to information, sans spin, or at least with counterspin.

Mike Castle is running for the Senate. He’s the only Republican who could even possibly win statewide office in Delaware, and his chances were quite good until he voted for cap-and-trade. Why he would throw away his political career on this one issue is completely beyond me.
Castle is another fake conservative like Joe Clark or any of the other “progressive” conservatives running around trying to save the planet by increasing taxes.

The media, the Goracle and Obama thought they could pull this over, but this crowd is well informed and proves that pols are out of touch with constituents. This guy won’t be re-elected. I’m not convinced we’re winning. At a golf outing last week two friends quite a bit older than I took me to task for cracking jokes about climate change while we were freezing our collective asses off in Nebraska in the middle of July. I was lectured as to NASA temperature statistics along with extended narratives speaking to the weather of their childhood versus current norms. It was made clear to them thanks to Kate that the temperature readings are bogus for specific and identified reasons AND that temperature and moisture changes noted during the course of a human lifetime are probably not a reliable sample.
Except for the fact that they both drive rice grinders, one would take them for upright and sensible tax payers. One would be mistaken. Suspect someone won’t be invited to that foursome again anytime soon.
As to GE credit card sales strategies, Capital One has funnier ads AND I can get my dog’s picture on the front. There are priorities.
