“For $25,000 to $250,000, The Washington Post has offered lobbyists and association executives off-the-record, nonconfrontational access to “those powerful few”: Obama administration officials, members of Congress, and — at first — even the paper’s own reporters and editors.”

Just read Ed Morrisey’s piece on this over at HA.
Apparently in 2001 the Post was much against selling access to politicians.
My oh my how times, and bottom lines, change eh?
Is this blatant corruption not illegal? At least for the politicians?
As for journalists, they never had any integrity, decency, honesty, honour, or ethics to violate.
what is the ratio of lobbyists to congressmen? 6 to 1 or something? 20 to 1? can’t recollect.
I know its a helluva lot more than 1 to 1.
anyway, to the CV of the MSM honchos we can now add the item ‘pimp’.
nothing new about all this. its the way ‘the system’ works.
And wasn’t that yet another campaign promise of Obama – that he would change the way Washington works and would reject the whole process of ‘lobbying’.
But under him, not only has transparency and accountability disappeared – with his misinformation, open lies to the public, insistence that Congress act only as a rubber stamp, and his many ‘czars’ who deal only with him – but – lobbying has increased!
Oh, and taxation? Remember how Obama swore that he wouldn’t increase taxes on the under 250,000 a year? Now, he’s going to have to, to fund his health program. But, Obama is manipulating the words. His aides are saying that Obama isn’t doing the increase. Sigh..it’s the people. It’s Congress who are going to increase the taxes. Not Obama. Congress.
Of course, the fact that he could tell Congress that he wants no increase, because he promised no increase….ahh…that option isn’t in the books. Instead, Obama will present himself as pure, and say that ‘the American people’, via their Congress, opted for higher taxes. Neat.
The first comment over at HotAir says it all, and quite perfectly too:
“presstitutes” – I’m going to remember that one.
all that much loved MSM honesty and integrity . . .
for sale at a reasonable price.
Honesty.
Integrity.
Mainstream Media.
what one thing doesn’t go with the other two ?
Marcus Brauchli, the Post’s executive editor, is concerned that observers might think “we would suspend our usual skeptical questioning”. He needn’t worry.
Can’t really see the problem with this. They’re probably just formalizing a process that’s been in place for years.
I wonder if futher digging might reveal that some of the Obamatons and other politicians were getting a cut of the loot?
Wow, that didn’t take long!!!
Someone who used to work for WaPo has some bus tread on their backside.
We are living in ‘1984’ indeed.
Someone call Ken Starr.
I’ve heard you can have a coffee at Tim Hortons with Kevin Newman for $10, plus you have to buy the coffee.
I like that one, “presstitutes”, also. Apt and pithy.
When politics lay down with media, the result is personification of evil
This is what passes for snake oil salesmen these days. The termites of civilization ae busy laying waste to decency.
Just because they are selling doesn’t mean that anyone is buying!
OMMAG — No kidding. Who’s wasting money on an already biased media?
