Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Looks good. I have uh… borrowed it.
I’ve added it to my daily must-check list!
MUCH better than, heads above, National News Watch. Thanks, Kate.
Yes – looks good. As a Canadian who spends at least 60% of his time out of the country, I hate to rely on Bourque for my news. I’ll see how it develops
What a load of garbage!
T said “What a load of garbage!”
They are so cute at that age.
Bourque is still my first aggregator choice.
Newswatch is suspect, probably stained by MSM influenece. THE Principals still hiding.
Newsreader not impressive.
Jack’s newswatch has again been revamped.
Quite professional for the old retired OPP guy.
And insofar as blogs go, SDA is the best blog by far!!
Must have hit a nerve for a lefty like T to get upset. Will definitely add it to my read list now. Read several articles and like their format and content.
Joe, what, in particular, is not impressive about News Reader?
News Reader is a good tool to see what the MSM is saying unfortunately it is still just the usual slobbering lickspittle (as Joe suggests). We need more content provided by professionals or with a conservate eye. Unfortunately no conservative will ever become a reporter (Dad I want to become a journalists – Son you get out of this house now!)
I’ll stick with Newswatch. I absolutely despise the way some aggregators (Bourque, Newsbusters, et al) create phony traffic stats by having their site automatically refresh at regular intervals. This one is doing the same. It is annoying for the reader, especially if the server isn’t large enough to reload instantly. And invariably you end up having to find where you were because the refresh closes windows and puts you back to the top of the page.

Well “batb”, for starters I am not a fan of anything Globemedia is involved in, ditto Toronto Star, they are leftist to their corporate soul.
Checking out the Newsreader “EDITORIAL” headlines lead me to mostly stories from Globe & Mail and Toronto Star, A few from FINACIAL POST.
Those websites as far as I am concerned are a waste of my time to read.
Christie Blatchford excepted at G&M.
All leftist spin all the time.
In fairness I will check out Newsreader another day, but here again I would like to know who is the principal behind the site.
Another MSM?
“I absolutely despise the way some aggregators (Bourque, Newsbusters, et al) create phony traffic stats by having their site automatically refresh at regular intervals”
I have removed the interval refresh. It wasn’t done to inflate stats but because our content changes constantly I thought it would be a good idea. But if it upsets users then clearly it is not.
Thanks for the link Kate.
As far as I can tell all of the links to “Elite Blogs” on the right side of the page are totally mis-labelled.
Click on the SDA link and you get Ezra, click on the Ezra link and you get some liberal lightweight.
I’m with Joe – would like to know who the principles are behind this site. Also helpful would be crediting which article belongs to which newspaper before i plunge in and find my self reading from the Toronto Star.
Also, I find the overall graphics and layout of the site a little bland. Sorry.
The “Elite Blogs” category is almost all Liberal Party Of Canada hack wankers (just like the MSM) with nothing of substance to say.
Not one connects to SDA.
Hey, guys, am I reading from the same News Reader as you are?
On the sidebar, entitled Elite Blogs, there are links to SDA, Dust My Broom, Gay and Right, Celestial Junk, Stephen Taylor, and Angry in the Great White North.
‘All great blogs, all links on one page. What’s not to like?
BTW, who IS behind this news aggregator?
been around the block/batb
richfisher, I just connected to SDA via the link on the Elite Blogs sidebar at Canadian News Reader. I’m not sure what you mean, that “Not one connects to SDA.”
SDA gets results; all of the accreditation to blog titles has been removed now from the “Elite Blogs” sidebar.
I have yet to connect to any SDA articles.
Only the article titles remain on the sidebar under “Elite Blogs”
Most of them go to some lame liberal party of Canada boosterism site called “Scott’s Diatribes”
Further results gotten.
The first link now connects to an SDA article albeit with site names removed from all article titles.
Stinks so far.
Yeah, site names are gone now. They weren’t when I wrote my comments above.
That severely limits Canadian News Reader’s attractiveness. If I have to click on the article’s title to find out whose blog I’m linking to, forget it. I’ll just go to my usual blogs, because I don’t have time to link to blogs I have no inclination to read.
‘Too bad.
Nat News Watch long gone here. Bourque now. Will give News Reader a try.
My major American aggregators – Hot Air and Drudge.
Drudge is good, yes – but I do not understand why it has mega times more traffic than others.
When it comes to ‘in depth points of view’ and ‘hard hitting ironies’ and ‘taken to tasks’ and ‘Juxtaposes’ and ‘perfect track records’ – nothing but nothing beats sda.
Kate’s is not just a simple news aggregator. IMO, it is the buzzer, the gong that rings whenever media BS is detected.
Also, IMO, if Kate was financially independent (freed for full-time sda) sda would be Canada’s Drudge – and much more. In some ways it already is.
Whenever I am having back and forths with others (prominent Journalists, ect) I usually link, refer to sda. Grinds their gears, as nothing hurts like the truth 🙂
Oh, and BTW, I have never ever heard a bad word uttered, or a bad word typed against Kate by any Journalist. None. (WK doesn’t count – in more ways than one)
to lefty for me, by far.
If I want good links to relevant articles, I will just continue to come here. Thanks, Kate.
“BLONDES MARCH IN LATVIA ‘TO CHEER-UP NATION’
MEANWHILE, REAL ESTATE SLUMP HITS MUSKOKA’S COTTAGE ELITE(sic)”
Bourque
“BLONDES MARCH IN LATVIA ‘TO CHEER-UP NATION’
LOL When I went to see the ‘story’ the page came up ‘blank’ – what a rip off! I’ll have to check back later to see if the link is fixed…
Macleans picks up piles of traffic from the sidebar, or its possible a front for Igor’s dominion takeover.
Thanks for the suggestions folks. I added the news source back in for the entries. I hope it doesn’t get mixed up again (I think it is fixed).
Thanks for the link, Kate.
To the NewsReader Staffer:
It appears as though there remains some work to be done. However, I like what you are trying to do. I still visit the NewsWatch site occasionally in the event there is something that interests me; yet I find I often just glance over the headlines and continue on.
I doubt I would read all your articles (you would not expect any reader to do such a thing), but my first impressions are that I will be a regular visitor for at least the next few weeks. Thank you for your efforts.
