Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The leftie TorStar is just trying to be kind. Remember, Lieberals are merely Dippers Lite. I don’t ever recall the Software salesman ever making a signifigant anything in Quebec.
Some slide.
Didn’t know you could wiggle around under the pond scum at the bottom.
This indicates that Jack has failed to adequately communicate a better plan for robbing ROC and delivering the cashola to La Belle Province.
However, for the patient, the birth rate in La Belle Province forecasts Quebec sliding into obscurity at about the same pace as Jack, so those Dippers with a longer view fret less than the Trawna Star would have them fret.
The Star’s editors/writers do not know much about prepositions..they are all ‘Liberano Education Lite’ graduates with wool spinning degrees.
I forgot the ‘preposition’ joke that I was planning to add:
A girl from Georgia, USA and a girl from New York meet in a public washroom; the southern girl smiles and asks ” So where are y’all from?”
The New York gal snaps: “I am from a place where we do not end sentences with a preposition.”
The southern girl smiles and retorts: ” So, where y’all from, bitch?”
I don’t think it’s Layton’s fault. Certainly, Quebec is socialist and only socialist and that’s a major problem, as Bouchard and others have pointed out.
But, how many socialist parties can operate in Quebec? There’s the Bloc, a terrible error of the Liberals in allowing its existence; it’sthe basic default party and has led to our being almost always run by a minority government.
And there are the Liberals who have always been socialist and also, very imporantly, have always been solidly based in Quebec – Chretien, Martin. Even Mulroney, a Red Tory, was a Quebecer. There’s no room for another socialist party, particularly one which, unlike both the Bloc and the Liberals, is seen as coming from a foreign land, the ROC.
So, there’s no room for the NDP. And, until and unless Quebec ever matures and decides to become self-responsible rather than relying on Big Government to do everything, then Conservatives have little to gain in Quebec.
The Conservative Party is focused on responsibility, individualism, entrepreneurship, small businesses – and none of that is part of the socialist mindset of Quebec which relies on Big Government and Unions to take care of everything ..while the individual in Quebec focuses on his below the table lucrative black market deals.
Y’all got that accent right Jemma 😉
Reading some of the comments there, it seems many Liberal voters are still pissed at Jack for helping to bring down Paul Martin. Paul Martin! Wow.
Like seriously, you guys lost the election. Get over it. Dithers was a complete loser.
one of the second highlight the reality that, in politics, it is better to be powerful and despised than to be inconsequential and ignored.
Chantal Hebert is been coy…. We need leadership that MAKES decisions. Good/Bad/or Ugly
People are tired of “Stuck On Stupid” “Grid Lock… and the present practice of looking to the Courts (activism) as a cover for the butts of Political Cowards.
If Harper can’t make simple decisions… his own party will send him into the ashbin of History.
Abolish the Wheat Board.. And let those who disagree make thier case for the Status Quo … spinning themselves into the inconsequential pool of fools..
Abolish the Office Language Act… let those that disagree explain why English Canada must learn French but French Canada does not need to learn English…(do we wish to leave Quebec stuck in poverty & limbo)
PICK ANY WORTHY ISSUE AND FORCE IT.
The OBAMA team is all about making decisions…and any decision is better than none
slap shot – it may be possible, taking practice shots in the rink all by yourself, to ‘make decisions’ turn into actual results, but in the legislature, none of your suggestions are transformable into reality.
First, your statement that ‘any decision is better than none’ is meaningless. After all, deciding to do nothing is itself a decision. And deciding to do ‘something’, if it is a bad decisions, is hardly ‘better’.
Abolishing the Wheat Board is desired by many, but a minority government can’t pass it when the majority are socialists and support the bureacuracy that runs the Wheat Board.
Abolishing bilingualism is desirable, and your points about asking Canadians to learn French when the Quebecois aren’t obliged to learn English is valid. BUT, changing that dreadful Charter is, in a minority government, impossible.
So, your suggestion of picking ‘any worthy issue and forcing it’ is impossible in a situation where your opponents outnumber you.
No, the Obama team is not about making decisions; it is about having a majority legislature in both the House and the Senate, along with the support of the MSM, so that any decision or lack of decisions, no matter how disastrous that decisions, gets passed.
That includes that Stimulus package which was passed, …with ALL Republicans in the House voting against it, and almost all in the Senate..and without any of the Democrats bothering to read the Bill. Do you support that style of decision-making?
How about Obama’s focus on race and partisanship? He constantly manipulates the vote by appealing to racial bias, political bias, etc. Do you approve of such a manipulative tactic of decision-making?
What about his view of foreign powers, which is that he can charm them to obedience? Do you agree with such a strategy of decision-making?
Back home we always said the Libranos and the Dippers were akin to Chevrolet and Pontiac. The Dippers more recent role being more akin to Pontiac only magnifies an inconvenient but useful truth for Canadian conservatives:
No matter how repugnant Jack is, he plays a role in splitting the socialist vote.
A three way poll tie between the Libranos, the Dippers, and the Greens would be about spot on.
Now if the bloc would only slide into the oblivion where their tired ideology rightfully belongs.
Jack Layton scored a reverse hat trick here in Saskatchewan; he got the NDP shut out three times in a row.
That never happened before in the history of the CCF/NDP.
The times they are a changing.
Quebecers are just not that into him.
texas canuck. a software salesman. jeez i thought you had to think logically to sell or work with computers.
owg, when he says software salesman, he means “looks like” a software salesman:
http://totallylookslike.com/2008/08/19/jack-layton-totally-looks-like-the-video-professor/
Why would Quebec vote NDP? They already have 49 uber lefties who do everything in their power to screw the ROC.
maybe Jacko can get a job in the emerging Oguv Motors.
In the grand scheme of things Layton may be the guy who keeps Harper’s clock ticking. Be nice to him now.
What ever “Jack Laydown”‘s latest failure, he is good at it.
Lord he’s had enuogh practice….
First, your statement that ‘any decision is better than none’ is meaningless. After all, deciding to do nothing is itself a decision.
ET
To do nothing is only an option in an academic exercise, in the real world the Static position doesn’t or shouldn’t exist.
Do I agree with Obama.. NO but he forces issues and takes them to a higher level… if he had more experience he would be dangerous. Your focus on Beltway politics can be misleading… all US politics are Local, Jimmy Carter found his Democratic Congress would not support him…Yes they are running Stupid but
what would you expect
The Senate is the power… (2 Senators per State) Dems/Rep don’t always vote the DC party line. They follow the State party line…
Obama & I share 2 habits…Smoking,and munching M&M’s… he may change!
